Lita can be Teela Foley would make a good Man-At-Arms Stephanie can be Evil Lynn I think Snitsky looks more like Webstor There was a webpage, now defunct, that actually compared Triple H to He-Man. It was pretty funny.

It comes from people not bothering to actually think both situations through, and only making a surface comparison. It's just so they don't have to think too hard.

TBS's Standards And Practices. The gimmick was considered too controversial for a TBS network. -
It just means that neither man is going to do the match unless it's done in WWE.

Finally saw XXX/AMW Cage from 12/04 PPV
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Tim Cooke's topic in TNA Wrestling
Tim sent in a letter to the Observer website, and, not only was it put up, but Dave replied. Here is the letter, and Dave's reply: -
Things that were supposed to happen but didn't

Things which most inside fans at the time would have either known or been able to work out for themselves. Maybe she was just an inside fan who didn't want anyone to know for fear if ridicule, so mocked wrestling instead. -

Bret v Hogan was definitely planned for SummerSlam '93 at one point, because they shot photos for the event poster. -
From a reality living up to the hype standpoint, HBK v Hunter from BB wins easily. From a booking standpoint, Maven v Hunter wins easily.

I don't understand that at all, seeing as how they had held WarGames there for THREE CONSECUTIVE YEARS before then. How/why would the 2 rings fit then, but not in 1999? They didn't plan for Fall Brawl '99 to have War Games, and so had sold tickets based on a seating plan that was for one ring. When they thought about having War Games, they would have had to change the whole seating plan to accommodate the second ring, and it would have been too much trouble. -
Actually, if they plan on having JBL retain at Mania, I think thats the best match for him. Believe it not, one idea expected to be pitched to The Rock for WM XXI is for him to put over JBL.

Who will be the first to be brought back up...
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
Yeah. He hit his head on the glass ceiling when he tried to ascend to Heaven. Of the four choices given, Johnny Nitro will likely be called up first, as he's been off tv the longest. -
The problem wasn't the fact that it was the same program, as much as the fact that Hogan always drew best when his appearances weren't so frequent. And while it may have been the same way things were done before Hogan, and even for a while with Hogan, Sammartino, Graham, etc never had the kind of drop-off that Hogan did.

What was the one angle the WWE screwed up?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
I am a big fan of Benoit, but he rarely got what could accurately be called 'nuclear heat'. He got some great reactions, no doubt about that, but with the exception of WM and Backlash, I didn't see him get anything that raised the roof. If you can think of one, then point it out. -
I just want to point out that when Hogan did a house show run with a heel, the second match usually drew a fair bit less than the first one. There were some exceptions, but, for the most part, the first match of a Hogan house show program almost always did a lot better than the second or third matches.

Ted DiBiase was twice set to enter the NWA/WCW, in 1987 and 1993, but both times it fell through. The first time, he had actually verbally agreed to come in, but when Vince pitched him the basic idea of The Million Dollar Man gimmick (Vince wouldn't tell him everything until DiBiase was signed), he went with Vince instead. The second time, he had also agreed to money terms, but when they wanted his first match to be a 30:00 draw with Dustin Rhodes at Halloween Havoc '93, DiBiase didn't think that was the best way to debut, and so the deal fell apart. -
Nikita was set to be brought up more than once, but, for whatever reasons, it got dropped. Neilson was dropped because she drove people nuts. And Mawr was on tv for one SD, as Muffy, Stephanie's personal assistant/trainer.
-
Of course we knew that LAST WEEK from SD! GM Long telling us. Those that actually watched SD last week knew that. I haven't watched anything more than a clip here and there for weeks.

According to one of the stills on WWE.com, one of the matches is Undertaker v Heidenrape.

Dollars to donuts says that 2005's Hunter v Shawn PPV match is now a recreation of the Steamboat v Flair match at WrestleWar.
-
Probably because they already knew it was a non-story. If the rumor gets too widespread, then one of them will say something about it.

Most Shameless Shilling in Wrestling
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Just John's topic in General Wrestling
The WWF did a marketing survey in late 1995, asking fans which person in the WWF would you most like to get powerbombed, and Didinsky came first. Shortly after, he was fired. -
The problem I had with Rude was, almost without fail, he'd go to an endless series of very long chinlocks right in the middle of the match, cutting off the flow of the match. He never seemed to worry if they fit the story of the match, or even if it was the right time for them; without fail, you'd get a 5 or 6 minute chinlock spot, and all the momentum would be lost.
-
What made me laugh in the previous Lesnar thread, was when someone tried to argue that wrestling was built on respect or something, and that it would somehow tarnish it to let Brock back into WWE.
-
Some Might argue that Shawn's first match in five years certaintly helped there. It might have helped, but the main focus of the hype was on Brock v Rock, and you had those tremendous video packages of both guys training for the match, leading into the PPV.
