    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

They're a great team to build a division around. They're top-notch workers and awesome heels. Add in the ability to have all kinds of different ****+ matches, and they're the ideal heel tag team to build a promotion around.

    Impact Spoilers for 6/5/08

The difference with Impact then and now is that because they were only on the internet, Impact didn't have a whole lot of 'creative' storylines, things were kept simple, and major angles were put off because they wanted to wait until they were back in TV; witness the sloooow burning tease of the reuniting of the New Age Outlaws. Within such limitations, D'Amore was very good at putting out a product that was well received. The problem, however, is that they would be unable to work to those limitations because they are on television. Either the Spike would want TNA to jazz things up, or TNA would be unable to reign themselves in.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

I have a rough outline of the order of my picks. When I pick a certain wrestler depends on what their role is and how they fit with the rest of my roster.

Guest Booker with HTQ: The NWA - August 1989 to January 1991

US Tag team titles: At the start of 1990 the US tag titles are vacant and get put up in a tournament. In the real world, Brian Pillman and Z-Man win the belts, but for the purposes of this venture I’m going to have the Road Warriors win them instead. However, in classic fashion for the Roadies, their title reign doesn’t last long as they drop the belts to Doom at Capitol Combat when Doom pulls the old switcheroo and Reed pins Animal with a handful of tights. Doom retains the titles at Clash XI over the Southern Boys with some more chicanery before dropping them back to the Road Warriors in a Chicago Streetfight at the Great American Bash. The next title outing is at Halloween Havoc with The Road Warriors defending against the Steiner Brothers in a much anticipated match. It’s totally clean with no cheating at all, and in the end the Road Warriors come out on top. The Steiner’s are gracious in defeat and embrace with the Roadies. HEEL TURN! The Steiners go nuts, suplex both Warriors into oblivion and leave them out of it. The feud is on, but we have to wait until Starrcade for the Road Warriors versus Steiner Brothers II. It’s a very physical match, as you’d expect, and both teams go all out for the win. The Roadies are all set for victory, when Paul E. Dangerously, who is doing color commentary at ringside, is seen to hand Rick Steiner his cell phone, which is huge in 1990. One distraction from Scott later and Rick has planted the phone firmly between the eyes of Animal and has knocked him out cold. Animal is easy pickings, and the Steiner Brothers are the new US tag team champions and have a manager in the form of Paul E. Dangerously. Summary: I wanted the US tag belts to gain some value in 1990 and putting them on the Roadies does just that. While they drop the belts soon after, they get them back at the end of very physical feud with Doom and them winning the belts back in their specialty match gets them back over again. Of course, the big news of the US tag title scene, and the turn of the year, is the Steiner Brothers going heel after dropping the title match at Halloween Havoc. I think this could have really added some fire to Steiner Brothers, and giving them Paul E as their manager and mouthpiece adds a ‘brains behind the brawn’ element to the unit. Going into 1991, you’ve got the Steiners defending against the Road Warriors as well as other teams, and you’ve also got the Steiners challenging The Rockers over the World tag titles, in matches that surely would have been really hot and allowed Shawn Michaels to really sell his ass off. Next up is the TV title

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

At least your #2 is still there. My top three tag team choices were taken one by one yesterday.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

It has to be a one-for-one swap so that everyone has the same number of wrestlers on their roster.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

If people want trades for the next draft, we should settle on the rules now. Maybe something along the lines of two trades per person? Possibly keep the deals to PMs before announcing them?

I suggested that a couple of pages ago, and people seemed receptive. As for trades, I also don't think they should happen.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

I had narrowed down my next pick to two people, one of whom was Benoit. My next choice is the guy who my Jr Heavyweight division would be built around. He's a legendary wrestler, and an undoubted Hall of Famer. My next pick is...

    Impact Spoilers for 6/5/08

Why? It's not like it would be the first time TNA have done something like this, putting a gimmick match on free TV days before people are meant to pay to see the exact same match.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

The best thing about this draft is that you're really getting an idea of how each person looks at wrestling, through who they would pick for their fantasy roster. We're going to end up with a mixture of rosters and a variety of promotional philosophies, which should make for some interesting reading and intriguing cards.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

The only way to work around that is to shorten the time between picks or try to arrange a time for when all 18 participants can be online at the same time, and go through the whole thing in one sitting.

When we've all picked our rosters, how about we also put together a card using that roster?

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

I picked Joe for one simple reason; I think Joe vs. Lesnar is money. There are many other reasons, but the main one is that I see it as a big money match.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Steamboat felt he'd made too much of a reputation to do squash jobs on TV. Anyway, it's time to make my second pick. This wrestler will face Brock Lesnar in the top feud in my promotion. I want someone who can have really strong, hard hitting matches with Lesnar, who can get Lesnar over and show his stuff as well. The headline feud of my promotion will see Brock Lesnar face this man...

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Vince wanted Steamboat to do televised squash jobs to IRS and Undertaker. He refused, though was willing to do jobs at house shows to anyone. That wasn't good enough for Vince, and Steamboat was fired.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Things will get interesting after the first couple of rounds, when the choicest picks get taken and people will have to start looking outside of their initially preferred talent. The picks at the end of the draft might be the ones that have the most thought put into them.
