This Monday's Battle Royal...
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
Getting a big reaction isn't the same as being over. Being over means being a draw, and nobody is a draw right now. -
Tommy Dreamer has comments on there too, I believe.... Lance Storm is on it. Wasn't he released a few months ago? No. He's in OVW as a trainer.

I think comparing Steamboat v Flair to Guerrero v Mysterio is like comparing Bruce Lee to The Fabulous Moolah.

She was enganged to Eric Angle, but they broke up a while ago.

This Monday's Battle Royal...

He's not under contract. He's been told they'll use him whenever they can find something for him to do. -
First off, he's working the gimmick. Secondly, even if he was being honest, he's missing the point completely, by trying to make it as if only Arab Americans can be insulted by the gimmick.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I think the fact that with Sullivan booking, Benoit only appeared on 6 PPV's during 1998, and did clean jobs in 4 of them, tells you something was up. Especially considering that some stuff that made it to PPV had no business doing so, and Benoit could easily have been put on instead, and you'd have at least had a good match added. -
Meltzer gives Joe vs. Punk five stars
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
Has anyone else here seen Joe v Punk II yet ? I've finished watching the tape, and I'd say it was easily ***** for me, and by far the best North American match of the year. I won't go into too much detail yet, as I want to see what others have to say, but there were so many great things about this match that really made it special. Little nuances throughout the match from both men, mostly from Joe early on, and more from Punk near the end, really added something. The crowd were great as well, and the atmosphere was unlike anything else in North American all year, with the exception of the endings to Lesnar v Eddie, and the WM main event. The commentary was excellent too, with Sapolsky and Nulty getting all the key points across, and really giving the match a sports-like feel. I highly recommend this match to anyone who wants to see what a major title match should feel like. -

Very easily, when they'd rather watching something good. -

I'm sure the gravitational force that ass generates could attract a small planet or two. -

1/4/99, purely for the fact that it killed an entire market. -
Meltzer piece on TNA from 11/29 Observer
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
I'd wager a million dollars that if TNA did that, they wouldn't sell Viking Hall out. I think the TNA hate is just that strong. -
Meltzer piece on TNA from 11/29 Observer
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
For one thing, they wouldn't come close to drawing 1500 fans, at Viking Hall or anywhere else for that matter. They haven't gone one show without having to do some level of papering, and even then I think they've rarely, if ever, drawn close to 1500. Secondly, running at Viking Hall would be death anyway, because every Indy show I've read reports of there, almost without fail, has seen a very vocal anti-TNA sentiment. -
Favourite 'Mark Out' moments
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Australian Pride's topic in General Wrestling
"Feel it, JR - FEEL this moment!. For the rest of your life - feel it." For 30 minutes, the WWF felt like it could explode into the stratosphere. -
For some reason, whenever I try to use DC++, it usually winds up booting me offline within 5 minutes. I don't know why it does this, and it doesn't happen with any other file-sharing programs I use. Kazaa Lite might occasionally kick me, but that doesn't happen too often. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be and what could fix it ?

Well, unless Corino has already decided to join whatever group is formed out of the ashes of the now-defunct Zero One group, Dusty can now at least pitch the idea of joining TNA to Corino.

Warrior did cite that as a reason for his leaving, but his father died after he skipped the house shows. Contract dispute. Sid, Scorpio, Furnas and LaFon were in same car, and Sid was driving. Sid was going at 100mph, and decided that this was the best time to adjust the sun roof.

The finish was changed not long after RR, when Luger was booed out of the building when he was declared the Rumble winner. Warrior left over a dispute to do with the WWF using his "Always Believe" slogan. He claimed they used it without permission, and he wanted his cut of the money made off it. I think Ahmed was probably going to be kept as the #2 or #3 babyface. Of course, his lack of talent, injury rate, and injuries he caused others, put paid to that.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I don't know what, if anything, they had planned for Benoit during his reign, but I can tell you what was planned for Nitro. As commissioner, Nash was going to force Benoit to defend his title three times in one night, against Lex Luger, Brian Knobs, and someone else. Benoit would beat all three clean, which would get him over big. The feeling was this idea was presented to Benoit as a way to feed his ego, with the thinking being that he'd stay with such a push. Obviously, it didn't work, and he left. It should be noted that when Luger heard he was doing a clean job to Benoit, he claimed to have a neck injury and couldn't wrestle. When Benoit left, and Luger was instead booked to go over Bam Bam Bigelow, his neck magically healed, and he was fine. -
The ones at RR '97 were Hector Garza, Perro Aguayo, El Canek, Jerry Estrada, Heavy Metal, and Fuerza Guerrera. They also used Cibernetico and Pierroth a couple of times, and, despite both being old and slow, pimped them as being young high flyers during commentary.

He totally failed to connect with the fans as major player. For whatever reason, he just didn't click with the fans when put in the top spot. WWF would frequently change his look, by changing his hair color, his facepaint, even the color of the WWF Title belt, trying to find that look that would connect to the fans. But, it just didn't work. It probably didn't help that Hogan stole the WM VI spotlight from him with the post-match, thus reducing UW to background scenary, and taking the impact away from UW scoring the first post-Hulkamania clean pin over Hogan.

The RVD/Sabu v Eliminators matches were terribly overrated by the ECW superfans back in the day. They were decent enough, and by the end of their program they managed to come close to the **** range, but it was really silly reading the likes of Scherer pimping their matches as these all-time classics.
