It was indeed Emory Hale. It was strange how they hyped him up all show, and then squashed him flat. That match is also infamous for the worst 'crotch your opponent on the top rope' spot in history.
-
We can, but then we'd have a shortage of people to mock and make fun of.
-
They can bring back the The APA's old slogan and give it to Heidenreich.
-
That was a joke by the person sending the report in; Jamie never actually said that.
-
That's probably the match in question I'm thinking off from the tape. I remember that match, purely for Mil's non-selling of a backbreaker, and Cornette's great commentary.

Favourite/Least Fav. Regular Spots
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to The Mandarin's topic in General Wrestling
One I forgot was the spot where, in the ring, one guy throws his opponent shoulder first into the ringpost. I HATE that spot with a passion. There was a period of about two months from around June through August where it seemed like you saw that damn spot every week, at least once. -
From a UPW card earlier in the year. It was Hall and Nash against Daniels and someone else, and Nash and Hall totally clowned their way through the match, making it clear to all and sundry they considered it a joke. And when Nash did the job to Daniels it was one of the classic 'jobs that isn't a job' deals', that does more harm than good to the person getting the pin.

I don't think it was for too long, or at least for too many matches that I can recall. I do know he wrestled using the name Manson at least once in WCW, as I remember hearing it used on an old Cactus Jack compilation tape from many years ago. I think it was a squash match against Steve Williams.

Eddie & Angle has an "altercation" backstage...
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
Eddie might know how to 'fight', but Angle's been in more competitive matches than Eddie, and his experience, as well as his superior talent, would see him own Eddie. It's just how it is. -

He speaks the truth people. Every fight winds up on the ground, and Angle would eat Eddie alive on the ground. And according to Keller's latest audio update, the fight was pretty much down to both men still being amped up from being in character, and one of them not happy with something that happened. Eddie apparently got physical first, but it was quickly broken up. -
Keller also says that WWE weren't happy with Noble's work, and how he wasn't getting over despite all their efforts. That last line isn't a joke.

The Ultimate Warrior Bashes Michael Moore
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
Maybe he gets that idea from people posting about it on message boards like this one. -
The point of the company is to put out what Vince and Hunter want, regardless of whether it's good for business. It's been like that for a long time, and won't change anytime soon.

There is no reason for the WWE to actually go through with what the fans want. There is if they do it in such a way as to ensure something bad happening. It will allow them to further convince themselves that the fans don't know anything, and that they do. And even if this is a shoot, the buy rate is bound to be bad enough that WWE will convince themselves that the fans don't know shit.
-
Blood does have that effect. The problem comes when blood is used so frequently, that it loses its impact, and then it becomes pointless. If heavy bleeding is used every couple of months, it will mean a lot more than having it used on a regular basis.

Whoever 'the fans' decide on as the challenger for the Raw title, do you think that he'll lose clean, given that that will further push the idea that fans shouldn't get behind someone because he's not good enough to win the big one ? Or do you think whoever gets the shot will be protected, in order to not totally destroy the fans faith ?
-
I'm thinking the voting will be a shoot, but that WWE will work things so that the fans vote for who WWE have already put in the slot. As for who that is, I'm guessing Michaels.
-
And that in turn will be replied to by the phrase "fuck all".
-
Very true. I would assume the theory behind that mindset is that the fans will then get behind the faces who will overcome the heels, and triumph in the end. However, that isn't going to happen when it matters, for all the obvious reasons.

I believe the name change occured when he returned in the fall of '97 after his injury, and because he was a heel, I presume they felt that Marvelous suited him better.

Shawn was meant to drop the belt back to Sid at the Tuesday Raw Special, where he did his infamous speech. Vince was panicked over the ratings, so decided to headline WM XIII with Sid v Undi for the belt, with Shawn v Bret as the semi. So Shawn, rather than do two big jobs in a row, faked a career ending injury. And yes, the career ending part of his injury was a complete fake. His knee was banged up to be sure, but it was absolutely not career ending, and was just an excuse to get out of doing a couple jobs.

I think the only positive of a no-contest brawl like that would be that it might add a tiny bit of intensity to their rematch. Of course, the rematch will probably be on Raw tomorrow night, go about 12 minutes, and end in a huge screwjob with Hunter getting the belt.

He put his hands on Kurt Angle by accident, during a brawl with Booker T.

What now for Nick Dinsmore?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to The Tino Standard's topic in The WWE Folder
That's like the episode of Small Wonder where the girl gets hit in the head so she gets amnesia, so they hit her in the head again and she's normal again. It doesn't work that way! Maybe not in the 'real' world, but this WWE we're talking about, where we aren't meant to take things seriously. I think this is the sort of thing they'd go for, because in their mentality it makes sense. Do you not remember the Shane/Kane angle. When a situation forces you to suspend disbelief in the WWE, it's because it sucks. "I was only pretending to be a retard" would be one of the worst. Have Eugene do the injury angle and bring in Eugene's 'half brother Nick' in as a vengeful family member who always hated wrestling, but respected how much Eugene enjoyed it and got into the sport because of it. Do the Foley-esque 'split-personality' gimmick. ANYTHING, but "I was pretending to be a retard". It's so ridiculous, and there's so many unanswered questions. Why was he pretending? Why didn't Bischoff know he was pretending? If Bischoff knew, why was he putting Eugene through hell? I'm not saying he comes back and says he was just pretending he was a retard. I'm saying he comes back and says that the beating somehow caused his retardation to go away.
