The report didn't mention the "Fire Russo" chant that ended the show. From the Torch:

    Impact Spoilers

Impact 9/13 *Karen Angle came to the ring and introduced TNA champion Kurt Angle. Instead, Sting appears and says that he doesn't blame Kurt for what happened at No Surrender and that it was Karen who cost them the TNA Tag Team titles. He wants Karen to admit he never struck her but she claims she can't remember that caused her to fall to the ground. Kurt Angle appears and hits Sting with a chair. They brawl to the ring. Angle handcuffs Sting to the ropes and demands to know why Sting would slap his wife. He says that at Bound for Glory he will, "embarrass the sh** out of Sting." He promises to snap Sting's ankle and breaks his neck. Karen Angle slaps Sting and the Angles leave the ring. *Black Reign defeated Shark Boy in a short match. Reign hits a prone Shark Boy in the back of the head with his shovel. He goes to get the rat but Eric Young comes out and pulls Sharky out of the ring. Reign pulled off Sharky's mask but Young covered it with a towel. *Christopher Daniels defeated X-Division champion Jay Lethal in a non-title match after Daniels got the pin with Last Rites. Good match. *Christian Cage,. Tomko and AJ Styles come to the ring. Cage says that they have some problems to take care of and his problem is with Matt Morgan. Morgan comes to the ring. Cage says that he wrestled Samoa Joe at No Surrender and since Joe realized he couldn't defeat Christian, he got himself disqualified. Cage says that Joe hung him until cage was almost out of breath and now he knows why the fans chant, "Joe's gonna kill you." Cage says that he knows that Jim Cornette is Morgan's boss and that he's the one that runs the show. He says that when your marquee wrestler is tossed over the rope and is being choked, you don't wait five minutes to do something about it. Cage tells Morgan that he's going to get a crash course and to make sure that it doesn't happen again. He says that there are three of them in the ring and only one Matt Morgan. Morgan rips off his shirt and prepares to face all of them, but Samoa Joe hits the ring and spears Cage. Morgan throws Styles out of the ring while Joe disposes of Tomko. Morgan gets the mic and announces that he'll be the special enforcer at Bound for Glory for Christian Cage vs. Samoa Joe. Cage demands to know who allowed that to happen and Jim Cornette comes out and says it was his decision. Cornette said that Cage had a Samoan Challenge and says he has an opponent for Cage next week and out comes the debuting Junior Fatu (formerly Rikishi). *TNA champion Kurt Angle fought Abyss to a no contest in a Six Sides of Steel Submission Match where Abyss would have had to leave TNA if he lost. Judas Mesias came from under the ring and attacked Abyss. Abyss had Angle in the Anklelock when the smoke appeared and Mesias showed up and began choking Abyss with some sort of metallic wire, possibly barbed wire. Angle escapes the cage. Mesias hits Abyss in the head with a chair. Mesias hits a leaping DDT onto a chair on Abyss. Mesias pours out Abyss' bag of glass and stabs Abyss with it. He leaves Abyss in the ring. Xplosion *Robert Roode defeated Kazarian with the Payoff. They teased the Kaz-Brooks romance. *James Storm pinned Sonjay Dutt with a superkick. Impact 9/20 *Judas Mesias defeated Eric Young in two minutes. After the match, Shark Boy makes the save for Young and Mesias attacks them both. He gets a steel chair. Rhino comes to the ring with a chair to ward him off. Mesias leaves. *TNA Tag Team champion Ron Killings (with Pacman Jones) defeated AJ Styles (with Tomko) after Jones spraypainted Styles in the face, allowing Killings to nail the Ax Kick for the pin. *Karen Angle comes to the ring. She tells Sting that she is deeply sorry for what she did to him and never meant Sting or his family any harm. Angle says that from the bottom of her heart, she is sorry. Karen says she wants Sting and Kurt to have a great match at Bound for Glory. Sting comes into the Impact Zone and says that if she thinks, he's going to end up caught in another Angle plot, she's wrong. Sting says it's just going to be him vs. Kurt at Bound for Glory - no tricks and no Karen. Sting asks Karen if she read the letter that she received, which turned out to be a restraining order that ruled they couldn't be less than 50 feet apart between now and Bound for Glory. Sting walks to the ring, so Karen backs out and leaves the ring. Police try to take Karen away for breaking the order. Kurt Angle tries to stop them. *Christian Cage defeated Junior Fatu after interference from AJ Styles. Fatu gives Styles and Cage the stinkface after the match. Tomko attacked Fatu. Samoa Joe made the save. They cleared the ring and are standing tall as the show ends. Before you ask, no dancing. Impact 9/27 *Team 3D defeated Shark Boy and Sonjay Dutt. Possibly the funniest match in TNA history. A great comedy match. After the match. Brother Devon sets up chairs in the ring and they attempt to give Sharky the same attack they pulled on Scott Steiner but Dutt pulled Sharky out of the ring. *The Motor City Machineguns defeated Jimmy Rave and Lance Hoyt (with Christy Hemme), pinning Hoyt. Team 3D attack The Machineguns. They set up tables and place Sabin on it. They powerbomb Shelley through Sabin and the table. Shark Boy tried to stop them, wearing a neck brace, giving 3D a chance to finally assault Shark Boy like they did to Steiner. *In a Five -Way Women's bout that was to gain entry into a Women's Gauntlet Bout at Bound for Glory, Roxxi defeated Gail Kim in a bout that also featured Christy Hemme, Traci Brooks and Jackie Moore. *Outside, Jeremy Borash interviewed Jim Mitchell and Judas Mesias. Borash asked them if they were able to find Sting since they had been looking for him all week. Sting attacked Mesias, which led to an impromptu Streetfight between the two... *Sting vs. Mesias - They battled into the ring. Kurt Angle attacked Sting. Rhino made the save for Sting. Angle and Mesias get the advantage. Abyss' music plays and he comes to the ring, going after Mesias. The show ends with Abyss clotheslining Mesias out of the ring and the babyfaces standing tall.

    The Old School questions thread

Final Raw before Survivor Series '97 had Kane beating Ahmed. I checked Cawthon's site, and see no Austin/Ahmed match at all that year. After Austin's neck injury, for a while they'd tease Austin against someone for most of a show before getting out of it somehow, so that might have happened, but I don't see them actually having a match.

    The Old School questions thread

Not sure why Ahmed joined the Nation, but he got kicked up because he injured himself, something he did quite a lot, and needed time off. Austin/Ahmed, I think, was a match floated for One Night Only or some PPV, before Austin went down with his neck injury. Once Austin hurt his neck, though, no way would they have risked putting Austin in the ring with Ahmed.

    No Surrender 2007

They gave the first Angle/Sting match away for free in April. It had no build, opened up the show, and lasted about five minutes before ending in a double disqualification. while i don't think the main should be Angle/Sting (i'd much rather since Joe in the spot), i don't buy the argument that the Angle/Sting can't draw anything because they had a dq ending on Impact in April. WM14 wasn't the first time Austin/HBK wrestled (they did a double dq on an IYH in 97), and then did ok. Of course, i'm in no way saying either Angle or Sting are draws like HBK and Austin. I'm just saying that having a match on the big show that has happened before isn't the end of the world always. The catch is that it has to be promoted well, which TNA hasn't shown it can do since Jarrett/Raven. I don't think people are necessarily saying Angle/Sting can't draw because they gave away the first match on Impact. However, that the first match has already been done, and in such a throwaway manner, means a crucial promotional aspect of the match, that would have helped it draw, can't now be used. And TNA needs all the help it can in order to get people to pay to see the PPV's.

He used the name Junior Fatu. Clean or not, Lethal losing right now is beyond stupid. Whatever he gained from last night was wasted.

At this stage, it's pointless trying to come up with reasons for the stupidity that is TNA booking. You can't reach a conclusion that makes sense, and you just give yourself a headache.

    Ric Flair quits WWE

when will people realize that Wrestling Internet Rumors are normally a 50/50 shot on being true or false? They're not always true, so yeah it's a possibility that the Booker T rumor is false as well. Wouldn't this be the 50% that is true then? I think he probably did give his notice in, but more to register his disgust with how he's being used rather than with a real intent to quit. I think when push comes to shove, they'll come to an agreement that will bring Flair back, if they haven't already. As for Booker, I think if he doesn't appear tonight then it's pretty much a given he's suspended, at least. Has he quit over it? Maybe. That one wouldn't surprise me.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

    A possible debut at Impact:
  11. Hunter's Torn Quad

    Ric Flair quits WWE

This story could still be true, and the Booker one could be too. Flair is asked: "I heard you have now quit the WWE" Flair says: "That is not true. " It doesn't mean the original story is false, because if he's come to terms on a return, he's back with the company, and is quite correct in saying he hasn't quit. If Flair is being honest, but the original story is true, then it's simply a non-denial denial. Of course, that's assuming those circumstances to be correct; the original story could be false or Flair could be lying. Either way, it's probably not wise to take Flair's comments at face value just yet. We'll probably know for sure either way in a few weeks.

Meltzer's latest update says Angle against Sting is the planned main event for BFG right now.

Samoa Joe and Alex Shelly staying in TNA

I believe the story was that Lynn asked for his release because after being removed as a road agent and made a wrestler again, he was being used rarely, if at all, and so wasn't getting paid as often as he used to be. He wanted out so he could get back on the independent scene and start making money..

    Complete Raw spoilers

From PWI: Video package of the Orton attack on Cena's dad opens RAW. RAW opening match is the Intercontinental title match: Jeff Hardy v. Umaga. Umaga is on the top turnbuckle, Jeff hits him and he straddles the rope. Jeff gets the pin off of that and wins the title. Vince tells Coach that his family can't hurt him because he has a better OFFENSE. Carlito comes in with his hair cut! Vince tells him that his match against Triple H will be a handicap match in which he will tag with Umaga. There was a pointless Santino and Maria segment. William Regal is looking for John Cena and Melina comes up and tells him about "her night with Vince". Melina turns around and Stephanie is glaring at her. She turns the other way and Linda slaps her across the face. Ron Simmons shows up and gives Melina the DAMN. Santino and Maria come out to the ring. Santino insults the fans then talks crap to Ron Simmons. The Sandman's music hits...Santino tells Sandman that he's jealous because he makes love to Maria and Santdman makes love to his "stick". Sandman cracks Santino with the kendo stick then beats him all the way up the ramp with it. Maria waits in the ring for her opponent. Beth Phoenix comes down and beats her in a minute with the Fisherman's suplex. Beth gets a mic and tells Candice that she's cashing in her title shot am Unforgiven. She then gives Maria another suplex and Candice runs out for the save. After a stare down Beth walks out of the ring and up the ramp. They show close ups of John Cena's dad's bruised face. Yay, it's Grisham with the dumb sign crap... William Regal comes to the ring and says that Randy Orton was told last week to show Vince McMahon that he deserved the title shot and unfortunately for the Cena family, he did just that. They showed a video package of the attack. Regal says that he gave Orton the night off, but he's here via satellite. He says that what happened was Cena's fault because he denied him a rematch. Regal announces that he gets the rematch at Unforgiven. Orton says that he hopes that Cena's dad never forgives Cena for it. Cena walks out with no music or video and Regal says that he's just doing his job. Cena attacks Regal and beats him out of the ring and across the announce table. STFU on the floor broken up by the refs running from the back. Lance Cade and Murdoch come to the ring and sit at the announce table. World's Greatest Tag Team v. London and Kendrick to determine the title contenders for Unforgiven. Note that Cade and Murdoch don't have their hats, so maybe some explanation is being made for Cryme Tyme being gone. Sliced Bread #2 and Kendrick gets the 3 count on Haas. Cade and Murdoch get in the ring with London & Kendrick and applaud them and shake their hands. Wow, this looks familiar... Regal is getting checked by paramedics. Shane McMahon walks by, looks at him and keeps walking. They aired a really good CM Punk video package. They show Umaga and Carlito in the locker room. Carlito says that Triple H was laughing at Umaga for losing the title. Vince confirms with his lawyers that his family can't get at his accounts. He tells Coach that he will take over for Regal as Commissioner. Vince fires a lawyer for suggesting that he settle with the mother of his son, as that is a "defensive strategy". He tells the other two that he's out for blood. Jillian Hall and Daivari come out. Jillian talks crap to Lillian Garcia. She says that she had her wisdom teeth removed, but she and Daivari sing and dance anyway. Cody Rhodes (in black trunks!) and Mickie James interrupt and the match starts. Daivari singing in Farsi was kind of funny in a weird way...Cody pins Daivari after a nice DDT. Melina comes to the ring in a little black lace dress. Kiss cam segement. They aired a replay of Carlito's Cabana segment with Triple H and Vince. Triple H comes out for the handicap match to biggest pop of the night. Carlito comes out then Umaga. Umaga is disqualified for entering the ring without tagging and double teaming HHH. The beat down continues. Umaga hits a big splash from the top rope. Carlito holds a chair in front of HHH in the corner, but he moves and Umaga rams into it. Triple H beats Carlito with the chair to the outside then gives Umaga multiple chair shots to the head, as he won't go down. Umaga finally goes to one knee and Triple H gets the sledgehammer and gives Umaga a few shots. Carlito retreats up the ramp and Umaga is rolled away on a stretcher. I can't help but speculate! The ring cover with Umaga's blood on it is removed. They aired a video package about going back to Iraq this year. Vince, Coach and the two attorneys come to the ring. Vince says that the family is here for one thing... "the MONEY!" Linda comes to the ring and says that she has plenty of her own money and doesn't need his. But, she can take him for everything due to the illegitimate son thing. Vince says that he had many lonely nights on the road and his kids would understand. Enter Stephanie. Vince shows a video that he made of the life of daddy's girl. They play a video of Vince beating down Steph instead. Vince is angry. HHH on video says he didn't play it. Steph says Vince needs help and should step down as Chairman. Enter MY SON, SHANE! Shane says there are two Vinces, the good and the bad. He says that Vince needs help, but he has to change himself. Vince says that none of the affairs happened and he lied to build his own ego and only cheated once. With the mother of his son. He kneels to his family and vows to be better. Kennedy comes to the ring. Ken points out the last name thing and the Green Bay location as where Vince plans to reveal the mystery. He says that he is Vince's son. Steph says that he's not Vince's son. Ken says that Vince's lunacy inspired him and that unlike his family, he won't judge Vince. Ken does his Kennedy thing on the mic and adds MCMAHON to it! Then, a representative for the suing mother comes out and says that Ken is not Vince's son but he can't reveal who is until next week. The horrible actor then says that he can give a clue, "Things are looking up". RAW ends and Vince makes Ken a match for lying to him. It will be against John Cena. Dark Match: John Cena vs. Ken Kennedy. Of course. Cena wins with the FU.

Skipping to the end: This gives us: But the big news is: Joe debuts two days earlier in his only other date for NOAH on that tour.
  18. For the G-1, I'm guessing Tanahashi or Nakamura against Tenzan, Chono or Nagata in the finals. For the GHC tournament, I'm thinking Morishima over Marufuji in the finals with Morishima then beating Misawa for the GHC title.

    The Old School questions thread

The HHH-related heat between Rock and Shawn basically stems from the time when Rock and Hunter were being built up to eventually take the top spot, with Shawn backing Hunter and trying to stop Rock from getting that position. There's the often told story from that time period, and this is around 1997, when Bret was booked to beat Rock clean via sharpshooter on Raw. Bret felt Rock was the future and didn't think he should beat him clean and got the finish changed to Rock winning via disqualification. This pissed off Shawn for a couple of reasons, one of them being that he was the one who pushed for Bret to win clean, and he wasn't doing it to build Bret up by any means. Rock appreciated what Bret did for him, which is why he always speaks highly of him. Rock is also aware of who came up with that finish and why.

Examples of a Wrestler TRULY Being Put Over

Hogan didn't put Goldberg over. To save time, I'll repost my explanation from the earlier thread: True, and some people assume that jobbing to someone means putting them over, when you can lose to someone and bury them at the same time, either in the body of the match or the follow up.

Examples of a Wrestler TRULY Being Put Over

Nobody really, but because he was friends with Dave Meltzer... Except he wasn't friends with Meltzer. In fact, he hated him quite a lot until around 1998. He did. His argument was that he didn't need to beat Benoit because the match was going to be such that they'd both gain from it so it didn't matter if he won or not.

OaO Non spoiler ECW Thread 9/4

That's funny, I thought it was because RVD got busted with pot and had to give up two titles in consecutive days. That's why RVD dropped the belt, but Edge got the nod to be put in the title program because he drew ratings during his short-term title reign earlier in the year.
