The OAO Thread For The Twentieth Annual SummerSlam Games

Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs Booker T Hunter wins this to return victorious. If the program is going beyond this one match, they'll shoot the angle on Raw. WWE Championship Johnathan Cena© vs. Randal Orton Orton seemed certain to win here for his second transitional reign, but rumblings have it that a title change might not be happening after all. If Orton wins, I can see him cheating to keep the belt in the rematch at Unforgiven, and then dropping the belt to Hunter at No Mercy or Survivor Series. From there, I think Kennedy gets it at Wrestlemania. World Heavyweight Championship The Great Khali© vs. David Batista They haven't even let them practice the match a lot while on the road, which speaks volumes. Anything over ten minutes and we're going to be looking at a worst match of the year candidate. The scuttlebutt has Batista regaining the title and then rematching with Khali at Unforgiven in a Punjabi Prison match. I'll say Batista wins by DQ or something then gets the belt back in the Punjabi Prison match, so that Khali doesn't have to do a pinfall job to lose the belt. Reymondo Mysterio vs. Chavito Guerrero Chavo wins when he forces Rey to tap out by threatening to flush his steroids down the toilet. ECW World Championship Johnathan Morrison© vs Charles Michael Punk Punk wins the title, and maybe Morrison gets repackaged, because the gimmick just isn't clicking for where he's at. Intercontinental Championship Kenneth Kennedy vs Umaga© vs Carlos Cool Kennedy to pin Carlito so Umaga gets out of losing. Divas Battle Royal No-contest when the friction caused by so much silicone rubbing together sees the Divas erupt into flames and burn to a crisp. There's not marquee name or match to draw in the big numbers, and it's also coming the day after UFC 74 which will probably eat into that number as well. It's the second or third biggest PPV of the year and has some name value to it so it should do well, but it won't reach the level of the past two Summerslams in terms of buys, so on that front I think it'll hover just under the 500,000 mark.

"John Morrison" is a Horrible Gimmick

The ratings started going up when Vince began appearing on the show.

Samoa Joe vs. Rikishi headlines Ballpark Brawl VIII

For the three of you interested, Sterling James Keenan won the six-way match to earn a future title shot at the Natural heavyweight title, added himself to the Joe versus Kishi main event part way through, and then won the title when Joe and Kishi were both counted out.

WWE General Discussion for August 2007

Daniel Rodimer, who Stephanie was super high on, has been released according to Bryan Alvarez. It was a mutual decision, and he's going back into real estate.

    That Was Stupid!

Whenever a wrestler goes to the top rope for a move and leaves himself completely open to attack by deciding that this is the perfect time to ignore his opponent and start talking to the ringside fans It's more a Ric Flair-centric gripe, but it's a spot I really hate.

Who would you prefer winning at SSlam?

Why the fuck do any of you care whether or not Orton can be trusted as the main guy in the company? Because some of the bigger WWE fans might not like it if the face of the company decides to throw another tantrum that gets the company more bad press. It's not as if the company needs help with that right now. Stop acting like it will be terrible for you if he fucks up again. YOU DON'T WORK FOR WWE. No, they're just fans of the company and would rather they not get anymore bad press than they've already got. It has no impact on you whatsoever if Orton is an immature douchebag backstage. You do realize that backstage nonsense can, and usually does, carry over into the on-screen product, right? Which in turn can dampen the quality and enjoyment of the product. What if they put the belt on Orton and he decides to screw up again and they decide to keep with the reliable Cena for another year or so? I'd say that would impact on people. All that should matter is his in-ring character. That's incredibly shortsighted. If the best in-ring character on the roster has behavioral issues, it's a risk to put them in a position that requires impeccable behavior. Granted, Orton seems to have calmed down now, but I wouldn't chance it with him just yet. He should get the title because there isn't really anybody else right now Well, that's always a good reason to put a title on somebody(!) and it needs to come off of Cena. It probably does, but I'd rather it go to Triple H than Orton. why the hell does it matter whether or not he makes it a year? Because it would be a major milestone and something historic at a time when such feats are rarely achieved?

WWE General Discussion for August 2007

There was a dispute of some kind between the person who ran the original site and the person who owned the domain name. They were friends and had a falling out over something. Thanks HTQ, you seem to be full of knowledge today, that's not to say you never did. And because I'm bored...

Not that I noticed. He kinda rubbed his head after Snitsky was announced as the opponent, that count? Shame really. One of the best looking visuals in weeks/months and it now means nought. And if they do take the belt off Cena, it was the perfect 'out' for him to lose the title and not look weak. They could have teased him not showing up and then he does but he's got a neck brace on because of what happened, and then end the show with Orton RKO'ing Cena in the neck brace. That would have been a much better visual.

    The Old School questions thread

It was to do with Montreal. When WWF signed Bulldog back, they filmed an interview with him an Diana and it was basically going to consist of them talking about Montreal with Bulldog attacking Bret's position. I think at the time Bulldog was on bad terms with Bret and the WWF were more than happy to use it to go after Bret. I don't know why it never got shown, but I think the Owen Hart lawsuit might have had something to do with it.

Does the younger generation remember WCW?

From various shoots and the two ECW documentary DVD's, Angle was pissed at the crucifixion angle because he found it offensive and Shane Douglas was angry because he'd been the guy who brought Angle in and still wanted Angle do work with ECW. According to Raven, Taz was upset as well and there was also the comment that it could be seen as anti-Christian because Raven, Todd Gordon and Heyman were all Jewish and it was asked why they didn't put Sandman on a Star of David; Raven joked that they would have, but Sandman would have rolled away.

Who would you prefer winning at SSlam?

I'd like to see Cena hit the one-year mark as well, but I don't think it'll happen. I don't really care who wins at Summerslam, but an Orton title win would be good purely for the impact of finally having the WWE title change hands. With Cena having the belt for almost a year, a title change should be major news. If Orton wins the title at Summerslam, I can see him dropping it by Survivor Series because I don't see them trusting Orton with a Wrestlemania main event just yet.

3.8 (F4W), which I guess is good. It'll be interesting what the rating is next week, both coming off of the PPV and being on Sci-Fi. Did Cena sell the RKO on the chair at all?

    Impact spoilers

WCW fans used to cry that all the time in the last year or so of their existence; whenever the company got criticized, they'd bitch that the people complaining should shut up and just enjoy the show. Nobody's complaining about WCW programming now. If whatever TNA does isn't entertaining enough to start getting more PPV buys, which are their main source of income and are falling by the month, then Bob Carter and Panda might just take notice of TNA and one day decide they've had enough of throwing money away on a venture that has never made money and isn't even close to making money on it's own. Even the densest, and richest, of money marks wises up one day and stops pouring their money away, whether it's because they want to fund something else that might make money or because they're tired of absorbing the losses. And when that happens, the TNA supermarks won't have to worry about anyone bashing TNA.

WWE General Discussion for August 2007

A couple of notes from the latest F4Daily: Mark Henry's contract is up soon and at this point he's not expected to renew, though it's not known if he does intend to leave or if it's a negotiating tactic. Undertaker will return at Unforgiven against Mark Henry. Vince had debated on whether to have Undertaker return at Summerslam, but decided to go with Unforgiven, partially because it was felt it would send a bad message to talent regarding coming back too soon from injury.

Did they explain why the Steiners would even want five minutes with Karen Angle to begin with? Has she had any interaction with them at all and screwed them over some way so they would want to get their hands on her? We'll ignore the fact that man-on-woman violence is not allowed anymore.
