I'd like to see SD get the WCW-style ramp to the ring. That way, it would give it a more cosmetically different look to Raw, which would help further differentiate between the two. Making the rings look different would be good; maybe they could change the turnbuckle pads to the long kind, like you see in Japan or RoH. How about putting the Smackdown logo in the middle of the ring mat as well ? Lots of cosmetic changes like these would really make the two brands look different, and would really freshen up SD.

SD was so-so. For the most part, it was dull, but the booking of Booker in the six-man raised my opinion of the show somewhat. As for Booker transitioning the WWE Title to Angle, I could see that happening, if for no other reason than there doesn't seem to be anybody else who fits the bill. RVD will never get the Title, no matter how big his pops remain, and Eddie is seen as someone who could carry the belt for a lengthy run, so they won't make him a transitional champion. At least, not for a second time. As for the TE guy who tore his pec and biceps, I don't have any sympathy. It's bad that he suffered the injury, but, really, when you put too much muscle on your body, you're asking for trouble.

The week after the Faarooq dumping episode, Bradshaw came out to address the fans about the Faarooq situation. He heeled it up by saying that he did the right thing. And that started the semi-slow transition (he completed the character transformation within the next month) While the character transformation took around a month, the transition from opening match jobber to main event star took....one week. On the March 18th edition of SD, Bradshaw did the clean job to Rikishi. The next week, he laid out Eddie Guerrero after the main event. And just like that we were meant to take him seriously as a threat to WWE Title.

I'm guessing the 'outside force' that brought the NWF down was puberty.

Debate on the worst PPVs of all time!
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
There was one segment on Nitro which consisted of Nash being in the ring, and numerous wrestlers running in, and then getting powerbombed right away. I think he got through about a dozen or so before 'brawling' to the back with Konnan and Rey Mysterio Jr. The worst thing about the angle, apart from Nash killing off about 12 wrestlers, was that Rey Jr was coming off of knee surgery, and should never have been put in anything that required running. -

I don't remember exactly what he said, but during Nitro one time, McMoron actually told people to stop watching and go get beer. And this was during a match. -
Until the recent tv tapings, with rare exceptions, this not being one of them, nothing in the UK 'happens' in WWE storylines.

Shawn Michaels injured in Triple Threat Match
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in The WWE Folder
And we all remember the reaction he got at MSG for SurSer 1996. Because his act now is practically the same one it was in 1996, and, as was said in a recent thread, his HBK persona is a huge turn-off for the young male demographic, which makes up a significant portion of WWE's audience. As for Shawn fitting in better on SD, with their Southern fanbase, particularly in Texas, that would be a good idea. The problem is, the reaction he gets would see him pushed as the top face on SD, and that presents the same problem as his big push on Raw; he doesn't put people over, either by design or due to incompetence with the booking. For whatever reason, maybe due to a fear on the part of Shawn or Vince over damaging HBK's overness, HBK doesn't put people over, at least not clean-as-a-sheet in the middle, which is ultimately how you're meant to do it. -
This would be Clash XVII. It's a decent card overall, with the highlight being an excellent tag match with Dustin Rhodes and Myster Partner (I won't say who in case you don't remember and want to be surprised) against The Enforcers. Sting v Rude is average, but with a hot angle to set it up. The rest ranges from poor to average. I can't be sure, but I think this may be a Nitro from around Halloween Havoc. If it is the Nitro I am thinking of, then it continues the tease over Sting being a face or not, leading into his match the next week against Hogan. That is the match where Hogan dressed in all black. However, with that main event, I'm also reminded of a WCWSN where the fans voted on the main event, with Flair v Sting winning out. Maybe the tape was mislabled ? That 5* classic headlined a Superstars show. Radford got one move in, a forearm blow, while Big Daddy Fool hit six mechanical moves, and his Jacknife for the finish. I haven't seen the Clash 20th anniversary special, but I'm told the highlights are all non-wrestling. The Austin v Steamboat and eight-man elimination main event matches are apparently decent, but that's about the best the card has to offer. The two Clashes from 94 aren't going to be anything special, no matter which ones they turn out to be. The January one was bland, with the highlights being Flair/Sting v Vader/Rude and Cactus/Payne v Nastys, though neither was above average. June was the one with Flair v Sting to unify the titles, with that match being the best one of the night, but only around *** at best. August's saw Flair v Hogan, with Hogan getting attacked early in the night by the masked man. The in-ring highlight is Steamboat v Austin, and this is the match were Steamboat suffered his career ending injury. That match is probably the best Clash match of '94, at around ***1/2. The November Clash is dire, with the lone highlight being Vader v Dustin Rhodes. Whichever ones you get, you'll probably want to keep your finger on the FF button at all times.

Maybe a few WWE adverts with Colon talking about moving on from 'the bush leagues' would change that. A long shot, I know, but I figure they should try anything at the moment, especially in a near-virgin market, and every little thing could help.
-
They don't like Carly in P.R anyways ....it's all about Rey Gonzalez! It would still have made more sense to have the brand with Colon in it have the PR PPV. Not when he is a heel. A NEW heel at that. So you don't see the logic in putting on the card a guy who was over in Puerto Rico and who fans there would recognize, and might want to pay to see ?

It'll be a Raw PPV. Which makes perfect sense, considering that Smackdown has the former Puerto Rican superstar.

Maybe they can resolve this with a game of No Mercy ? Vince and O'Shea taking on two of the executives.

This isn't the kind of news you ever want to wake up to. I've not seen a lot of Hoshikawa's work, but I liked it a lot, and his style is one I enjoy. This unfortunate incident reminds me of what happened with Masakazu Fukuda, and that one was worse for me, because I'd actually been able to see Fukuda live. Let's hope and pray that this situation has a happy ending.

I guess because Booker ripped into Orlando.
-
Maybe they won't show the match ? They could even edit that whole segment out.

Just over a year ago. And when was the last time Eddie got a meaningful win on SD ?
-
Does that mean there are some people you can't ban ?

Is anybody here actually going to the event ?
