Most shocked you have ever been while watching wrestling
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Vampiro69's topic in General Wrestling
I thought Foley only won because Ventura didn't want to raise the hand of a heel? It was because they didn't want Ventura to raise the hand of a heel. Austin did not refuse to put over HHH that night. -
Eric Bischoff's idea, and it was mostly because he'd been on Raw once. Mongo ranks up there as one of the very worst announcers of all time.

Anderson Silva is one scary fighter, and way above any current middleweight. He dismantled Franklin with ease, yet again. I can't wait to see who steps up next.

Well, that was the most boring fight of the year.

And it's official at last, Brock Lesnar signs with the UFC. Just a shame Randy left.

Approaching the 10th anniversary of the...

Just to clear up any misunderstanding about this part, Vince knew the WWF title belt couldn't get the garbage bin treatment. He had to make a story up for an unhappy locker room the next day, so he went with the idea that he couldn't risk the WWF title belt being thrown in the trash. It was never going to happen and couldn't happen anyway, which he was fully aware of. -
Approaching the 10th anniversary of the...

Yes. Bulldog was meant to go over, and, knowing this, he dedicated the match to his dying relative. An hour before the show started, Vince went to Bulldog and asked him to put over Shawn with the explanation being that they wanted to build for a bigger show in Bulldog's former hometown where he would finally go over. While that idea does make sense, it's more than a little strange that Bulldog wasn't told about it until literally hours before the match. Why that happened should be obvious, considering who else was involved. -
WWE General Discussion - October 2007
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
You think someone who has worked on any kind of successful television show is going to lower themselves to writing for WWE? Any half-decent writer is either going to avoid WWE like the plague or use it as a stop-gap until a job with a real television show comes along, in which case they're not going to put any kind of effort in. WWE having bad writing has little to do with their views on the union status of their writers and everything to do with who the writers are writing for and what that person wants out of them. -

Just trolling through old threads (it's been a boring day here) & I came across this. I guess the Raw Ratings aren't on the slippery slope as some people make out, seems like they've been slowly going downhill for a while. So why the recent complaints, why now? Complaints from who? USA network or people on this messagebard? If you mean from the network, I thinks it's because Bonnie's trying to take a more active role in whatever position she holds. Hammer is also unhappy because she was expecting Raw to get 4's and 5's.

Or you could just put on consistently good PPVs. Relying on surprises to spike buy rates is a bad long-term move.

Is ECW about to end as we know it? (ECW renewed)

ECW: Too Crap for TV -
Bret was going to win. Sid had beaten Bret the December before, and Sid was meant to return the favor. He wasn't down with that.
-
Coincidentally, he bailed right after finding out what the finish was going to be.
-
Or it'll be Booker T, and they'll have him wrestle on the last Impact before the PPV and not hype it up beforehand.

Those are all good to great fighters, but none of them have Couture's drawing power. Yes, UFC have enough quality fighters for a heavyweight division, but none of them are going to attract the interest of the casual fan, and those are the people that spell the difference between a PPV getting 400,00 buys and 700,000 buys. No use having great fighters if not a lot of people want to pay to see them fight.

Not to turn this into yet another MMA vs. Wrestling debate, but making blanket statements about MMA is pretty ignorant. MMA can be boring, but so can wrestling. They can also both be very exciting, but in different ways.

Examples of a Wrestler TRULY Being Put Over

Would that be the match were Undertaker pulled Cena up at two, kicked out of his finisher and then pinned him clean? That's not putting someone over. -
Dark Match: *TNA Knockouts champion Gail Kim defeated a female foe. Her name was hard to make out. Impact: *Kurt Angle tries to apologize to Kevin Nash and get him to be at ringside with him. Nash promises to be at ringside to watch Angle get his a** kicked. LAX & The Steiners defeated TNA Tag Team champions AJ Styles & Tomko and VKM. *In a Fight for the Right Tournament bout, James Storm pinned Eric Young. *Havok vs. Petey Williams vs. Shark Boy vs. Sonjay Dutt ended in a no contest when Team 3D hit the ring and laid out all four. *Kurt Angle defeated Sting to regain the TNA championship. Sting had Angle in the Scorpion Deathlock and pointed at Kevin Nash. Nash went to interfere but Sting hit him while he was on the apron. There was a ref bump. Angle nailed Sting with the Olympic Slam and a second referee, Earl Hebner, came out to count the pinfall. Angle acted as if he was happy with Nash, then flipped him off and left. Heber and the original referee Rudy Charles argued. Jim Cornette said he was going to review the decision. *Awesome Kong pinned Angel Williams. *They announce Jim Cornette will make a ruling before the end of Impact. *Junior Fatu defeated Robert Roode after Samoa Joe's interference. Christian Cage did commentary. *Jim Cornette announces that Angle is indeed the new champion and at the Genesis PPV it will be Angle and Kevin Nash vs. Sting and a partner of his choice with the winner of the fall winning the TNA title. Xplosion: *Ron Killings & Rhino & Chris Harris defeated XXX. Rhino and Harris teased tension.

Same source as the Raw and ECW spoilers, so blame them if you hate the comments: SmackDown opens with a recap of last week's stuff with the Undertaker. Tonight, JBL interviews Big Dave, and our first match is a WrestleMania Rematch: KHALI vs Kane. JOY! Kane beats Khali by DQ, after Kane was choked with wire for the DQ. Kane shoves Khali down after the match, and out comes Big Daddy V to squash Kane post-match. MVP vs Mysterio is later tonight. Matt Striker interview with Big Daddy V, warns that V will be coming to SmackDown to cause havoc. That's followed by Chuck Palumbo (w/ Michelle McCool) vs Chris Masters. Victoria comes out to attack Michelle McCool... that distracts Palumbo, allowing Masters to get the win via a roll-up. Backstage segment with Matt Hardy and MVP. MVP says that he feels like Matt is his friend, and he doesn't want the match at Cyber Sunday. Matt plugs the choices for the match, as we go to Matt Hardy vs Finlay. Matt wins after hitting the Twist of Fate - MVP came out and took the shillelagh off of Finlay. Major Brothers are up next. Drew McIntyre beat Brett Major (?) JBL interviews Batista - it's a shill for the book. Wang Yang & Moore beat Deuce & Domino with a sunset flip. Undertaker vs Jamie Noble, as per Vince's orders... Taker/Noble: squash match. Taker wins with the chokeslam. The entrances took longer than the match. It's announced the next UK TV taping tour is going to be in April - tickets go on sale Saturday October 27. A LOT of people left after the Taker match... it's just gone 10.30pm and Rey vs MVP is starting now. Rey vs MVP is going long - it's gone through one commercial break so far... MVP vs Rey was good until the finish - Finlay came out to attack MVP, causing Mysterio to lose via DQ. Rey then attacked Finlay as SmackDown went off the air. "Very flat finish".

by Adam Clarke and Ian Hamilton Notes: They're allowing signs into the arena tonight, after Raw was devoid of them thanks to some overzealous arena staff. WWE's interviewing kids around the building, probably for a video package at some point, and we'll be going live with dark matches and ECW in 25 minutes or so. The arena's half full as we go through the usual videos... Dark Match: Tommy Dreamer beat Carl Ouelette with a DDT. ECW ECW opens with John Morrison coming out, wanting fans to vote for him at the PPV. They show a replay of Punk v Morrison from last week. Out comes Miz, who gets the fans to vote for him... then out comes Big Daddy V and Matt Striker. It's the same "I want that title shot" angle we've seen a billion times. Out comes CM Punk who says he doesn't care who his opponent is at the PPV... and his mystery partner tonight is Kane! That match starts off the show; Punk still has the taped ribs and is really over. Everyone works over Punk's ribs as the crowd chants "who are ya?" to the Miz. Punk gets a hot tag to Kane, who gets into a staredown with Big Daddy V. Miz gets a blind tag and is promptly chokeslammed for as Kane gets the win. "Match wasn't bad - quite long for ECW" Cyber Sunday run-down now. Long period of downtime follows, causing the crowd to ger restless. Miz and John Morrison argue backstage, and Miz cheapshots Morrison, leading to our main event... because they didn't fly out the full ECW roster, I presume! Balls Mahoney is interviewed about how he likes Kelly Kelly. KK asks Balls out... and their date is TONIGHT~! They have an announcement about the talent merger, and our next match is Jesse & Festus vs Elijah Burke & Nunzio. Jesse pinned Nunzio with a flying cross body off the top in a quick match. Burke walked out after the match, and our main event is next! Miz v Morrison ends in a no-contest as Big Daddy V comes out and squashes both men, then poses, and that's the end of ECW!

Someone asked that question in PWI's Q&A section, and their response was that they don't comment on personal situations and to "take that as you want to".
