Bill O'Reilly has been all up in arms over the holiday tree thing and then it turned out FOX was selling O'Reilly themed "holiday ornaments" on his website. -

I dunno. Morris looked good in the tourney last year. I'm hoping if we can somehow get him back and Crawford returns (and learns not to suck) then we might have a shot at being good.

But Al-Jazeera wasn't *actually* attacked. I think you're mistaken or confused. There were other incidents of journalists being attacked in Iraq, maybe you were thinking of these. Also, someone else already posted about this.

In honor of Bill O'Reilly's newly minted enemies list (which I vow to get myself on), list your enemies. Edit: Shit, I meant to post this in General Chat or Hardcore.

I second the Mercenaries recommend. The airstrikes and bombs make that game. You can blow up everything! -
It's because it's not cool to be "elite" in America. Throughout most of human history, it has been "cool" to be part of the ruling class or born rich. In America, though, the only elitism is "reverse elitism." For example, George W. Bush emphasizes his rough and tumble Texan side, when he was actually born into wealth (obviously) in Connecticut. There are lots of examples of this in American culture (e.g. "Horatio Alger" stories; pulling oneself up from one's bootstraps).

You realize that this a Republican FCC and that the leading proponents of such measures are the PTC and other right-wing/evangelical-esque censorship groups? Liberals, like conservatives, don't like what's on TV for the most part, but we tend to be viciously anti-censorship. We much prefer boycott to censorship (we also have a bigger problem with violence on TV than, say, boobies).

I've been to some awesome UK basketball games (also some heartwrenching UK football losses): beating Michigan State when they were #1, blowing out Florida by about 30 when they were #1, some amazing SEC games against Tennessee and others. The greatest game ever: UK vs. UofL (can't remember what year). I went with my friend who was a UofL fan. UK ended up blowing the Cards out by about 30 and my friend left and sat in the car at halftime because I was talking so much shit.

That wouldn't be such a bad thing if they weren't incompetent, unethical businessmen. -

I couldn't disagree more. Many of the post-war problems have been exacerbated by having such a *small* force in Iraq (see Shinseki, Eric). The country is not secure partly because we do not and never did have *enough* troops. (On a side note, we also didn't have enough civilians, and the few that we did have came primarily from resumes submitted to the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank.) It's a cache-22, though, because increasing the level of US troops to the level needed to actually make substantial progress: A.) Would probably require a draft, because of the current recruiting crisis. This is, domestically, politically unfeasible. B.) Upping troop levels would only further piss off Iraqis. The Iraqi government even wants us out! To me, though, the only responsible thing to do is to send in more troops. As Colin Powell would say--you break it you bought it. American public opinion was solidly behind the war back in aught 3. Now it seems to have executed a complete 180 while developing a serious case of buyer's remorse. Whether you think the war was just or not (I think not), I think we can all agree that it was horribly botched.
