And "mainline" or "oldline" Protestantism is dying. Fast. Evangelicalism is growing steadily and the Southern Baptists are the single largest Protestant denomination in the US. Pentecostalism is also growing quite rapidly.

World Leaders: A bunch of lying douche bags?

I'm pretty concerned about the White House's compliance in the attempted coup of the democratically elected president of Venezuela in 2002. I think we're still fucking around in South America too much. -

What I referred to as "inconveniance" was procedural, that is inflicted by the goverment. The Jews were NOT CITIZENS in Nazi Germany and institutionally set up for slaughter. The US government doesn't give tax breaks for marriage to gays and they might have some trouble with anti-discrimination legislation in the workplace. That's about it. Whatever intolerant assholes do, is their own personal business and actions, and they are justly charged and punished for their crimes. It's a world of difference which still makes Nazi Germany a stupid and insulting analogy... Agreed. I misunderstood your argument. However, MikeSC agreed with my misunderstood version of your argument. -

Ripper, the asses in your sig are going to get me fired one of these days. -
Nice, Mike. Your source is a WaPo columnist arguing that there is a liberal media bias who lists as his only source a Scaife-funded conservative think-tank. http://www.journalism.org/resources/resear...ap/bushgore.asp

Let's say that just 1/2 of the 1,430 crimes in 2003 reported by the FBI were what MikeSC would call "real" anti-homosexual crimes and the other 1/2 were merely creations of the LIBRUL ESTABLUSHMUNT~!. Even this would show that gays face more than what Slapnuts! referred to as "some inconvenience." -
Because with news stations like CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN (Ceretinaly Not News) and Fox is far superior than any other nation TV news networks. Because no US network outside of CBS has so utterly thrown their towel behind a specific candidate. -=Mike ...And I happen to like Blair... yer kidding right? Fox didn't invent documents about Kerry. -=Mike ...You are aware that a study showed --- and this is truly a shocker --- that Kerry received far more positive press than Bush did... Bush got more positive press than Gore in 2000.

Teach for America is really big right now--and very competitive. A lot of people from the Ivy Leagues are doing it. My roommate didn't make it this year and she has an excellent GPA and undergrad record.

There were 1,430 "sexual orientation" motivated crimes in 2003 alone. Source: Crime in the United States, 2003, FBI, Uniform Crime Reports. -

That's awesome. Also, on the topic of the thread... I find it humorous that Greenspan bitches about the deficit when he had a major hand in creating it. -

I did. All of yesterday. Not the lack of posts for almost all of yesterday? He chooses to continue. I simply respond in kind. -=Mike Two wrongs make a right. I see. Or, rather, fifty billion bitch fights that bog down the forum and make everybody sift through a bunch of bullshit to actually read a thread make a right. -

First of all, there are lots of states that have no laws protecting people against homosexual discrimination. Second, Tennessee is the state where the book ban legislation was proposed. I could not care less about proposed legislation. Hell, the Senate Dems proposed to end ALL filibusters back in 1995, and we see how well that proposal turned out. PASSED legislation is what matters. And, again, you've not really provided any, ya know, evidence of people being fired for being gay. And, smitty, unless the people who committed the CRIMES were not only not punished but even rewarded --- then, no, it's not comparable. These comparisons to Nazi Germany only serve to diminish what happened in Nazi Germany. -=Mike Wasn't making the comparison to Nazi Germany. Just pointing out the absurdity of Slapnuts!'s assertion that homosexuals face only "some inconveniences." -

Amen. Ditto. It's borderline offensive that he keeps pushing it as a comparison. The Nurenberg laws were to make Jews second class citizens in every sense of the word, to seperate them from their community and humanity as a whole and to prepare them for deportation and eventual slaughter. That does not equal, "gays face some inconveniance in certain areas because their lifestyle is not yet fully accepted by society". "Some Inconveniences": -

I was reading part of a James Dobson book at work the other day. This one, Bringing Up Boys: It sickens me that this guy has so much influence. Hey Dobson, I didn't have a father at all and I didn't "catch" "pre-homosexuality." -

You make fun of his job, call him fat, etc. Just be a grownup and ignore him. If you just challenged his views that'd be great. But you often stoop to flaming, too. -
