Your attitude is unhelpful to those who support science, Eric.

Mugabe Militia Hacks, Burns Alive Opposition Leader's Wife
Big Ol' Smitty replied to BX's topic in Current Events
Another sad part of this is that Mugabe actually started out as a legitimate nationalist, anticolonial leader. -
Yeah, because an influential, famous former Senator and Vice President (and heir to a Tennessee political dynasty) has to concoct an evil, elaborate environmental crisis charade to make money. He couldn't serve on corporate boards or charge fees to speak at events and rake in boatloads of cash, nosiree bob.

I think Barr has reversed some of his social views (on drugs I heard, maybe). edit: yep http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle_blog/2...d_drug_war_oppo

Stuff about sample size & weighting. I'm not an expert by any means, I haven't been involved in social science research for a few years now. There are probably some places online where you can read up on stats if you're interested. I guess we'll see in November. You may be right. This is the only GA poll Barr has been included in, so it's hard to tell if it's an outlier.
-
Jingus, I'm not trying to be a dick, but have you ever taken a stats class? I sort of a agree with you on the inclusion of Barr as the only 3rd party candidate choice, but he is a fairly popular former Georgian Congressman and my understanding is that the Atlanta area is something of a libertarian hotbed (if such a thing exists). Besides, how many Georgians do you think are gonna vote for Nader or vote Green or Socialist Workers' Party?

I've never heard Obama say he was a "post-racial" candidate, btw (I still don't know what that even means).

Obama has called the two Muslim women in question, & the women released this statement: Obama campaign: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06...red-from-stage/

Insider Advantage. 6/19. Likely voters. MoE 5% (5/20 results) This HAS to be an outlier. http://www.insideradvantagegeorgia.com/res...gia61919643.php

Here's Obama's first general election ad, which is airing in like 17 or so states starting today, that Czech is talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylVTBiGh00c

Screwing around here, I came up with this scenario: If Obama wins all of the Kerry states plus New Mexico, Colorado, & Iowa & McCain flips New Hampshire (which seems like a plausible scenario) the result will be a 269-269 tie.

I'm a farmer now! Also, Edwin, you should get a Dear Abby column. You give great advice and you could put some of your wordsmithing skills to good use. Like Ann Landers, only more references to filling one's bottom with majesty. -
I was gonna go there but I thought I would come off as a populist rabble-rouser.

I wouldn't really say that is from planning, but from a lack thereof.

Czech, about 50% of your posts in this folder lately have had to do with MSNBC.

This Ghanan dude that I always talk to at the YMCA was freaking out over this today.

I guess my thinking was that the Military Commissions Act moved us into the 12th century and then this decision moved us back into the 13th again. I guess I could've said this decision has moved us forward into the 13th century, or said that the MCA had moved us back and now this had moved us forward, but I assumed that everyone would get it, like randomguy did. Sorry I got you so riled up, Jingus! Also, I'll try to pick my random articles off google news more carefully in the future!
-
Thank you, randomguy. Sorry, the website didn't meet your standards, Jingus, I was really just pointing to the fact that the Supreme Court made that ruling. If you would like a more objective article reporting on the court's ruling that doesn't so offend your sensibilities, I will be glad to help you find one!

The SCOTUS has moved us back into the 13th century (in a 5-4 decision): http://www.pubrecord.org/index.php?option=...view&id=125
