What's the story here?

The Matarazzo chart, having been published in 1972, is horribly out of date. Modern educational psychology doesn't divide scores into to such narrow ranges. Particularly inaccurate considering the margin of error most I.Q. tests possess. The labels on the third chart don't seem particularly in keeping with the consensus of modern opinion, either. So you're saying you don't teach any profound retards?

Oh, fuck "young people." Counting on Jon Stewart's key demographic to win an election is like building a house on pasta stilts. Um, sorry, but he has used the youth vote to win elections.
-
Great point. This could have really screwed up the whole thing!
-
Googling about, I found this website: http://www.assessmentpsychology.com/iq.htm I really enjoy the term "profound retard" as the lowest listing on that bottom chart.

I would say he's probably in the top 2%...that's not THAT elite.

ChocoSocko Roundtable: The Deep South

Jingus, you constantly use straw man arguments in these situations. I was responding to Ripper's comment that bigotry wasn't more of a problem in the South. I think I made a decent case that it wasn't, but whatever. I never said that it hasn't gotten better, or that the North didn't have racial problems of its own--in fact, I clearly stated that it did in my post. As far as "proof" that racism is a bigger problem in the South than the North, I could probably dig up economic or criminal justice data. What sort of thing are you looking for? It just seems pretty asinine to think that, given its history of more virulent racism, and the success of seemingly racist tactics in Southern electoral politics, race isn't a more major issue in the South than in the North. I don't know if your comment about the persecution of the beleaguered Southerner was a response to my post or not, but please: You're kidding here, right? Just one example of mocking a subculture that I'm at least somewhat a part of: And another example of marginalizing a subculture that I'm a part of: http://www.mndaily.com/articles/2006/03/24/67686 I'll be okay, though. -

Also, the association of many Southern politicians and public officials, including the governor of Mississippi, with the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens (no, I'm not calling it racist just because it's conservative--the Anti-Defamation League and SPLC both list it as a hate group). -

Look I'm not arguing that there aren't racial problems and tensions in the North, too. But I think it's silly to pretend that the South has magically become a fount of racial harmony after the Civil Rights Act was signed. But you want more recent evidence? Okay: -The success of politicians who opposed busing -The success of politicians who trumpeted "states' rights" (oh wait, Southern voters were all just committed constitutional lawyers, right?) -The success of Nixon's & subsequent politicians' Southern Strategy -The fact that Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond kept getting electing to the Senate, despite never disavowing their segregationist views -Cross burnings -Things like this: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/02/06/...in2440306.shtml -The recent resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan, primarily in the South http://www.adl.org/PresRele/Extremism_72/4973_72.htm note: I'm from the South -

I present three conflicting pieces of evidence: 1. 2. PBS Map of Lynchings (click on "lynchings & riots" then place your cursor over "lynchings" and scroll it over various northern & southern states--notice the numbers in the "black" column) 3. The maroon states are the ones won by George Wallace. -
http://www.wlky.com/news/15944810/detail.html This is the most hilarious thing I've seen in weeks because I know this guy. It's all over the internet and the picture along with the story is hilarious.

War in Iraq, circa 2002-2003, imho.

Pulling someone over is probable cause to search the vehicle. Sorry bud. You don't understand what the term probable cause means. I'm not necessarily saying I disagree with you about the ruling of the case though.

I'm getting ready to move back...I can't wait! My wife commutes there every day too, so she can't wait, either. Where did you live in Kentucky, Milky? On another note, Ripper wins the "gayest city: Atlanta vs. New York" debate: -

I used to eat chicken and biscuits from Schwan's when I was a kid. Full disclosure: my mom married the Schwan's man when I was 7.

I think it's now safe to assume that Marney's writing career is what's paying for those bulletproof limos & the rest of her aristocratic comportment.

I don't know what a "convincing victory" is. She still has no realistic shot at winning either pledged delegates or popular vote. I can't imagine the superdelegates pushing her over the top, since her superdelegate lead has actually been shrinking. I'm not really sure why she's still in. She has every right to be, but I don't get it.

I liked Juno, too. But I feel kind of lowbrow for liking it after reading this thread.

Isn't it a little early to know this? I'm seeing less than 50% of precincts reporting.
