I think I could screw things up pretty good with all three. I could be an ACLU lawyer. Or some government bureaucrat who makes you get socialized medicine. Or maybe some State Dept. diplomat in the Obama administration who insists on talking to the brown folks in furn countries rather than bombing them all. Pick your poison.

Wait, there were spies at your apartment complex on Halloween?

Actually, mik, the other two are shorter than 3 years and would give me a pretty decent shot at employment, although I may not make as much as I would as a lawyer. P.S. I already have one MA, but it's in Education, so it's pretty much useless unless I want to stay in teaching.

You're completely ignoring the fact that the STATED goal behind the troop surge was to create an environment in which political reconciliation could take place. By arming non-state actors like the Sunni tribes (who tend to be among the most backward, antidemocratic forces in Iraq), the "progress" being made is actually moving Iraq further away from the stated goal of political reconciliation. You don't get to move the goalposts, sorry. Furthermore, the primary reason behind the drop in violence seems to be the fact that Baghdad has pretty much been successfully ethnically cleansed. And the idea that Iraq isn't going to be a salient issue in '08 is nothing more than wishful thinking.

The History Channel has a cool little site on the real traditions behind Christmas. I didn't know that Cromwell banned Christmas in Britain and that the Pilgrims in early America also didn't celebrate it.

Gave MFerXtreme and pbone exams. They failed.

Ditto (only with better grammar).

No it's not. Czech, imagine if a prominent Republican politician took a position unpopular with the party base on a major issue of the day. Let's say that he favored race based affirmative action back in the 90s when that was a salient issue. Now, not only does this politician favor race based affirmative action, he goes on to claim that everyone who opposes it is a knuckle dragging racist bigot (and publicly sucks up to an unpopular left wing president, and endorses liberal Democratic candidates for president). This might give you some sort of an idea of how those of us to the left feel about Holy Joe.

haha It helped that he lied and pretended like he opposed the war in Iraq. And said he would still basically be a Democrat. What constitutes "being a Democrat," and how has he failed in this regard? Not calling other Democrats traitors and endorsing conservative Republican candidates for President? I would say these two things can constitute "being a Democrat."

Hilariously, I think this is how many Americans view their religion. It's great so long as it doesn't interfere with their interior decorating or lead to slightly uncomfortable moments.
