I got a choice of the old machine or the new fancy machine and I took the old one. Also, they had to call my old polling place and make sure I was legit because I moved. And I had to fill out some forms & sign in the supplementary place. I hope my votes counted. Voted R for the first time for magistrate.

If Iraq continues with a number like 50 a day dead (low estimate), that's the equivalent of 18,250 a year. If California had myriad gang wars causing that kind of death, I would imagine there would be about the same level of frustration & anger as there is now in Iraq & constant cries for the government to do something dramatic to solve the problem. Another significant difference in that the Iraqi people are also having to deal everyday with the lack of essential services like electricity. I find crap like this really annoying. "If we all just sat down and worked out our problems and did what's best for America, things would be great!" You act like the there aren't real differences between the parties or between liberals & conservatives. There isn't some magical centrist approach to problems. Yes, compromise can happen at times, but disagreements exist and can't just be ironed out by some centrist white knight from Nottingham. American liberals & conservatives (or Democrats & Republicans) actually agree on a whole lot of things, but the differences & disagreements are real, and they're not going away.

If the Senate is 50 Rs and 49 Ds (including Sanders) after the election Tuesday, Lieberman will be absolutely insufferable (as will Cheney).
