I just hope you aren't restricted to playing people on your friends list. There needs to some sort of central server list that people can look at and join games from.

Morgan Webb is growing on me. I've been seeing a lot of her on TV for E3 and she looks better than I originally thought. I think it was those awful, over-produced glamour photos that turned me off. -
I really don't know how anyone could possibly say Army of Two's characters were even approaching Killzone 2's, if for nothing else than the animation was just much smoother and more realistic. Visually, there isn't much difference I guess. Killzone 2's character faces were incredible, and I didn't really see any in Army of Two (since they wear masks), so can't compare that. But whatever. Microsoft made a big time franchise out of an average-looking mediocre shooter, so maybe a pretty-looking mediocre shooter would be a step up. I'll assume you didn't see the presentations. In Sony's case, it was one factually correct sentence preceding a video of the game, in MS and Nintendo's case, it was five or ten minutes devoted to how great the companies are.

The Leafs open up versus the Sens. SHOCKING!

Well, Sony pretty much took Nintendo and MS to school. Better looking games, better online capabilities and no self-congratulatory bullshit (the PS2 is still the best selling game console of all time remember). Killzone 2 looked absolutely ridiculous. Not so much the textures and environment (which were impressive), but the character models looked superior to anything I've seen in a video game. Infamous could be a neat game along the lines of a deeper version of something like Crackdown. Echochrome looked like a very unique puzzle game. And it's good that they stressed that GT is the best selling racing game of all time, after some of the nonsense MS was spewing about their racing games being "best sellers". The importance of the GT series had been criminally overlooked lately. Coming out of these conferences, the Wii looks more and more like a fad that is bound to fall off sometime. Nintendo's conference was just laughably lacking in games, and they instead focused on a gimmick for the greater part of their conference. Their image for not having great 3rd party support and being "anti-hardcore gamer" was actually stressed more than anything. The Xbox 360 looks like it will stay strong, as it has a solid selection of exclusives coming out this year, along with its multi-platform stuff. And the PS3 looks like it's going to start doing well due to the price drop, some nice looking, under the radar games (assuming they pan out well), their huge 2008 exclusives, and how well put together their online system is. I was disappointed in no FFXIII info, but I'd imagine we'll see more out of Square at the Tokyo Game Show.

Oh Nintendo. You're killing me.

This has ended up being worse than Microsoft's conference by a fair bit. Too much campy shit, not enough games.
-
The Halo Xbox was just the icing on the cake of a lame conference. I don't know where Assassin's Creed looked glitchy outside of possibly the floating body. I say possibly, because I thought I saw a pole sticking out from the roof (like the one the character started on), and that's what the body was sitting on. Otherwise it looked pretty neat. Lost Odyssey certainly looks impressive, but not enough was shown to determine what kind of RPG it's going to be. If it has dime-a-dozen gameplay, I'm not overly interested. All in all, pretty mundane. That's not to say that there isn't some hot stuff coming out soon, but there was nothing new there.

Heh, I thought the RE5 video was gonna be MGS4.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

Muscle bulk is more of a tell-tale sign of steroids than being ripped is. That's why Brock Lesnar minus the roids can still look pretty cut, even though his interior bulk shrank quite a bit. Or how guys like Piper and Flair could roid without getting cut, but increasing their interior bulk nonetheless. But I must say, I like the idea that Cena doesn't use roids because he used to be a body builder and because he crusades against their usage. Yea, he couldn't possibly be on the juice. -
Microsoft expands 360 coverage against RROD

Microsoft sends refurbs. -
$500 should have been the price of the 60 gig PS3 right from the start. That doesn't mean it's not good that they dropped the price, but it means it still may not sell as well as it would have if it started at $500. But when you think about it, a $100 price drop is big, and combined with how soon it came after the launch, it's really telling. Sony can still sell their system for more than the Xbox 360 though, because the PS3 is inarguably a better piece of hardware than the 360. Ultimately, 2008 will decide the fate of the PS3, because by then they'll be out of the launch-window software drought, and we'll see whether the system gets any good, new, exclusive titles like the 360 did in year two of its existence.

I like Alex Rodriguez for AL MVP. His slugging percentage is 61 points higher than Ordonez, and while his average and OBP are lower, they're still respectable. NL MVP is tough. I like Fielder or Holliday I think. Fielder's slugging is still .620 even though he had been struggling. His average and OBP aren't great though. Holliday has a terrible OBP compared to his average, but is hitting .343 with a .573 slugging. I suppose Utley could be thrown in too, as he has a similar OBP, slightly higher OBP, and slightly lower average than Holliday. AL Cy Young is Dan Haren's to lose as this point. His numbers are just better than everyone else. Chris Young over Jake Peavy for NL Cy Young due to the lower ERA. They have identical WHIP and Peavy has a better K/BB ratio, but ERA is more important. Really could go either way though.

Price drop official - http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/09/sony-con...for-60gb-model/ 80 gig PS3 is $600 now, but it comes with Motorstorm. I guess it's worth it if you want the game, otherwise no thx. Actually, scratch that. If PS3 games are $60, then it's $40 for 20 extra gigs. No thx regardless of the game.

I have Wickman on my fantasy team, and he definitely sucks. It can't be long until Soriano gets the closer role (whom I also have).

The entire group is put on the clock, which is why the slow players are disliked. I think the timing starts when the player reaches their ball, but I think I may have heard that it starts after they pull their club out. Which is dumb, because then the guy could take all day to decide on the shot he wants to play.

Microsoft expands 360 coverage against RROD
World's Worst Man replied to AndrewTS's topic in Video Games
Bringing up the PS2 was just such a completely irrelevant point in the first place, but you know what, maybe it was worse, maybe it wasn't. No one but Sony and Microsoft know the real figures. Which was actually worse doesn't even matter, it's about how the public perceives it, and this shitstorm surrounding the Xbox 360 CLEARLY dwarfs any kind of bad publicity the PS2 got. That is ultimately why Microsoft took action. You can go on about how Sony "sux0rz!!", but this is Microsoft you're defending. You're kidding yourself if you think they'd have done anything if not for the awful, damning publicity. -

Actually the PS2 was much much worse than this is. At least people are getting replacements and aren't paying out of pocket (and if they did are getting reimbursed). I know several people who had to buy a second PS2 because of all the disk read errors and general shittyness that was the PS2's durability. I also know a couple people who paid $40 to have Sony fix the disk read problem, I had to crack my PS2 open and adjust the lens probably 4 times, and I didn't even use it that much. Inconvenience is one thing, but having to pay on top of it is another. Microsoft made a mistake and are going above and beyond to make it right. Once again, PS2s weren't failing at nearly the rate that Xbox 360s are. I don't know how you could possibly spin the PS2 as being worse, the failure rates don't even seem to be in the same stratosphere. If they were, I'm sure Sony would have been forced to do something like Microsoft has done. But they aren't. The old "well my friends..." anecdotes don't mean anything either, it's a small sample size. I can just turn it around and say that I don't have any friends who've had problems with the system and that mine has worked since I bought it in 2001. -
Rumors had the Red Wings being interested in Raycroft. I'd expect that with Toskala signing an extension and Raycroft not having the best of years last year, they might be shopping Raycroft. They are shopping Raycroft. Aubin is gone, so I guess Clemmensen is going to be their backup should Raycroft be moving on. I guess it's all good if Toskala plays about 80 games.

The Marlies have Pogge and Racine already, so unless Racine is leaving, I guess it's to be the 3rd stringer. It's not like the guy is a prospect, or even an NHL calibre goaltender,

What if Barry Bonds doesn't "mysteriously" gain 50 pounds, and 3 inches to the circumference of his head in the late 90's? There's the issue of his numbers, but I'm also wondering whether the steroids in baseball story would have gotten as big as it has.

NES RPGs are terrible. They've aged so poorly that they're just awful to play at this point. SNES doesn't have many that stood the test of time either. FFVI is still great. Chrono Trigger has aged poorly in some respects, but is still ok. FFV is decent. Super Mario RPG was pretty good. The Lufia games are kind of by the numbers, but aren't too bad. Genesis = Shining Force II, Phantasy Star IV. Genesis was light on the RPGs, but these two are definitely worth playing. Saturn = Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force III, the Lunar games. -
Greatest sports performance of all time? A senior tour eligible player winning a real major would be impressive enough, but two years shy of 60 when guys that old can't even really compete on the senior tour? Crazy.

The AL is fairly easy (Haren), but the NL is a tough choice between Peavy and Young. Young has the better ERA, they have identical WHIP and Peavy has more Ks and a better K/BB ratio. I'll say Young.
