At least we're getting rehash games where the new controls really will be viable, and in some cases a better way to play (Resident Evil 4). Game devs just need to be smart with the gimmick. If it's not a viable way to play their game, they need to include standard controls, or just scrap the gimmicky controls altogether.

The Wii controls in a fighting game are a gimmick that will never be as effective as standard controls. I'm sure some apologists will say "durr but it's fun!!!", but I can't imagine a fighting game is much fun when the inputs don't work or are too slow/difficult to input a good chunk of the time.

Yea, because the Kingdom Hearts AI partners didn't have to be baby-sat at all. Truthfully, you don't need the AI in boss battles if you know what you're doing. I keep them alive so they gain exp, that's about it. But to each their own.

I died in the first significant battle, so I must really suck... seriously. I was referring to the friendly AI. They tend to die a lot, even against enemies that I can kill without taking any damage. They also aren't anywhere near as effective on the offense. Rogue Galaxy is essentially a non-mind numbingly repetitive version of Kingdom Hearts. For anyone who liked Kingdom Hearts, try it. It's the same idea with the hack and slash real time battles, but the enemies are larger and less numerous (ie. so it's not as repetitive) and there's a bit more strategy to it (although still not much).

Battles sound like Rogue Galaxy, which other than the lame AI, is pretty fun.

Yea, Mississauga is essentially just a suburb, and it's just as fervently pro-Leafs as Toronto itself. Very few people would support another team in the GTA. Hamilton I'm not sure of, because they have their own CFL team, which leads to some backlash against Toronto, but I don't know where the hockey loyalties lie. In any case, it'd be silly to put another team near the franchise with the largest and most loyal fanbase in the country, especially when Detroit and Buffalo are also in the vicinity.

The only other city in Ontario that has a large enough population to reasonably have an NHL team is Mississauga, and that is only twenty minutes from Toronto, and essentially IS Toronto as far as the Leafs go. Putting a team in K-W, surrounded by Leafs country, and the pocket of Wings fans in the Southwest, would be ridiculous. Winnipeg or Portland would be just fine.

Just get the Godfather game. The Wii controls make it fun to play, even though it isn't even close to approaching GTA's size and scope, not to mention variety.

Sounds like every RPG made before 1997, other than FFVI and Shining Force II. Of course, I wouldn't call any of those games underrated, but to each their own.

Wells is overrated by people who follow the Blue Jays, and underrated by everyone else. His hitting is overrated by the Jays followers, and his defense is underrated by anyone else. He's probably the best CF in baseball, yet other outfielders tend to get more attention for their defence. And he's not really an elite hitter as many think he is. He would be if he was more consistent, but he's only really had one monster year, and a couple more very good years. I would say Barry Bonds is still overrated by those who just completely ignore all of the negatives regarding him. He doesn't deserve the recognition that the numbers would suggest, due to the way those numbers were achieved. That includes everything that is a by-product of the HR numbers (OBP, SLG, BB).

I hope that game has single character combat. I'm sick and tired of these awful, real time battle RPGs that rely on ridiculously bad AI. They can be fun, but are ultimately frustrating due to the need for the AI characters to be useful.

I think Mega Man 2 Dr. Wily Stage 1 has a rival for the mantle of best video game song ever, that being Bloody Tears from Castlevania. Is that song rehashed in every Castlevania game ever? If not, it should be.

My favourite parts were the three giant plugs and the missing character models.

DrVenkman, how did you fake that picture? It doesn't look shopped, I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my day. Did you ask some people from Chinatown to paint the side of that building so you could take the picture?

There isn't much, especially if one already has an XBox 360. GTAIV and DMC4 appear to be the only big time games hitting this year, and they're both multi. Bladestorm and Assassin's Creed both look good, but again, they're coming out on the 360. Heavenly Sword will remain exclusive, but it's an unknown quantity at this point. Things are really lean for PS3 exclusives until FFXIII, MGS4 and GT5.

You'd think it would come out for the PS2 as well, since that's where the other GG games are. It's coming out on the PS2 in Japan, but I don't know about NA.

That Splinter Cell game looks great. I like urban environments. Beowulf looks like it could be neat too, although I'd be more interested if it was being described as an action RPG like Oblivion, rather than just an action game with "some RPG elements". I bet the Naruto game will suck.

Bridget is awesome, you're insane. Everything about Guilty Gear is awesome. Vaan was the worst FF lead of all time (not including FFI and II, but that goes without saying). Uninspiring character design and the guy didn't even get any development in the game. FFXII did have one of the best character designs of all time though. Now this is a terrible character design (on the right).
