I would argue that it would be "elitist" if they had picked a bunch of old, obscure, archaic games that very few people play or that very few people even consider worthwhile. My only complaint would be lack of VF4, but I guess VF5 has usurped its place in the competitive forum, and the series isn't as crazy popular here as it is in Japan.

Almost all of the VC titles are of terrible value but I think Pac-Man takes the cake.

I like how the tournaments are taking place on console. I mean, that's where most people get the bulk of their playing time I'd assume, so it makes sense. I'd probably go if VF4 was on the menu, as I haven't even touched VF5 yet, but I guess its time has passed. How is the turnout for this thing anyway?

I actually downloaded Generations earlier today. I took a small look and the animation looked rough, but I think Gouki plays a prominent role, so giddy up.

Yes, that's the one. I think them being teenagers was the point, since it was supposed to be stuff that happened before the games. Thus you had stuff like Chun Li's father being killed, Nash being killed, Ryu learning the hadouken, etc. Also keep in mind that the anime was actually made before the Street Fighter Zero (Alpha) games, so they didn't have any of that to go off of.

You make it in Japan or Hong Kong. That's about it. The first SF2 animated movie maintained the spirit of the series, even if it wasn't a masterpiece. The TV series was really good, but it wasn't based on the game history (although it too did a good job of capturing the spirit of the characters). A live action movie would never do the series as much justice as an animated movie, even if it was made by competent people who knew what they were doing, but it could be done better in a different cinema market.

I was thinking the exact same thing about Halladay. Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

First on the agenda for them should be implementing a playable battle system.

I'd rather get the game for free than buy it second hand, but that's just me.

It's worthwhile to not pay $70 for games that take 8-10 hours to beat I guess. I couldn't care less about homebrew and emulation on the XBox 360 since I have a PC.

As far as games go, Square made a hand-held spin-off, and a crummy console spin-off. There's still room for a quality console remake in there. It's not going to happen, but it would be nice.

XBL update today. Not sure when I'm going to upgrade to it. Reports are that the firmware modifications work as they did before, and I don't play on XBL at all, but I'm paranoid that MS gave themselves the capability of ruining the firmware mods though this update, and that they'll hold off on doing it until people think the update is safe.

Oh, so PSP gets an FFT too. What the fuck? Stop with the hand-held shit and make an FFT for a console.

Does your Pronk miss the all-star game despite putting up monster numbers? Just wondering if the game is that realistic.

FFIV is archaic/not good, so whatever. Unless they redo the battle system, not much is going to change. I guess it's just a cheap way for them to make money instead of doing what people really want, ie. a FFVII remake on a next-gen system. And personally, I want a FFVI and FFVII remake, and a sequel to FFT on a real system, but that's not likely given all the manpower that is being used to make the twelve different FFXIII games.

What to play versus mkart..how about "social skills"?

It certainly would be. We should do some MAME sometime, assuming we can actually get the same client (as it doesn't work otherwise and there is apparently 28 versions floating around). Whoever thought it was a good idea to play with Derek should probably have been drawn and quartered, followed by their quarters being tarred and feathered.

DrVenkman, I will set you up with an emulator if you want to play some SNES. No need to waste money on buying an old SNES plus games. Unless you take a hardline against emulators/ROMs like you do with piracy :(

Shadow Hearts used something like it. It wasn't exactly a QTE, but it was a system where you had a ring with a line going around inside(kind of like a clock) and you had to stop the line in the proper area for the action to go through, or in a much smaller area for a critical hit. So basically you had to press the button at the right time, like a QTE. I know a guy who swore off the game because of that, I guess because he figured it was too hard. It was pretty good though, because it added some risk/reward, and they implemented some neat statuses that would screw with how the ring would act. I figure RPGs need either gimmicky battles or strong character building with a lot of skills. If they aren't providing that, the plot and environment better be top-notch or else the game is probably rather mediocre.

Ok, that character sucks. The battles sound interesting, that's about it.
