Izzy Alcantara did a sweet sprawl to defend against the attempted take down, right near the end of the video. Boy must have been an amateur wrestler.

The fact that some people can't see the difference between a gun, a knife and uh, a cutting board, really says a lot I think.

Now I've heard it all. ... ... Not to the above post.

The X-Men beat 'em up hasn't held up too well either. The contrast between how I remembered it and how it ended up being was amazing. Those games are just a product of a by-gone era me thinks. -
The Wii software clearly beats out the PS3 software for mass appeal, that's for sure. But I personally would prefer VF5 and MLB The Show '07 over what the Wii is offering. Still not buying a PS3 though

You won't see any argument from me about the success of the game. For reasons you've detailed, plus the fact that despite charging full price for a collection of tech-demos, it's moving good numbers in Japan.

Have you even played the game that you continually bitch about? I can definitely understand slamming something like Wii Play for being a glorified technical demo, but Wii Sports is arguably the best launch title of this console cycle, offering very underrated gameplay that almost anybody can pick up and enjoy at a ridiculous price ($0, considering that the price to purchase the console it's packed in with is a sunk cost). It may seem like crazy talk to the hardcore gamer populace, but you cannot underestimate the game's crossover impact - there are people at work talking abot this game, people that haven't picked up a game since the SNES days, months after the console has launched. A couple of instances of lackluster execution (golf, boxing) keep it from being an absolute classic, but the rest of the package offers a fun arcade-style sports game that's happens to double as a damn good party game. And, to be completely frank, I would take Bonk's Adventure over MotorStorm and Excite Truck. Outdated graphics and all, Bonk is still an above-average platformer that still plays fairly well to this day, while the other two struggle to deliver even mediocre gameplay, especially when compared to other racing games that have preceded them. Clearly I haven't played it. The Wii that I own and have mentioned numerous times didn't come with it. But seriously, Wii Sports sucks. 3 of the 5 games have incredibly simplistic gameplay, one of which is unresponsive and just downright poor, and none of them have any sort of replay value. Even the "good" games are incredibly limited with what you can do. They're basically the definition of a tech-demo. But hey, if that doesn't matter to you, all the more power to you. For me, depth of gameplay and replay value is important. Given the popularity of crappy 8 and 16 bit games being sold for $5-8, I guess I'm in the minority.

Not if they release the NES version of MK3 on the VC. It's an NES game, it must be great!

Art of Fighting isn't that good, sorry. The only thing it has over VF is boobs. Now World Heroes is without equal.

Best episode ever.

The thought of playing an RTS on a console frightens me to no end. Well, any console other than the Wii. Ultimate Spiderman was good, but I don't know if the same people are making the movie games.

Is it not common knowledge that guns are much more dangerous than knives or other melee weapons because they're just easier to use and kill with? Or am I giving people too much credit?

You don't? What the fuck am I supposed to do with this game that I've been developing since 1992? -

TMNT is an old, nostalgic game, which automatically makes it better than basically every game released after 1995. -

I assume guys treat hot chicks "special" thinking they can hook up with said girl. It seems a rather geeky and lame thing to do. -

Give freebies to hot chicks is pretty lame too. Unless they're really, really stupid, they likely understand what's going on and will milk it for all it's worth without giving anything in return. -
I'd rather have VF5 than any of the titles you mentioned Good thing it's coming out on the XBox 360 so I don't have to buy a PS3. I don't care really. Motorstorm might very well be a glorified tech demo, which would give the PS3 a neat bit of synchronicity with the Wii. I just relish the Nintendo fanboyism. I guess I should have treated it like a zoo, you know, how you can look at the animals, but not feed them. I can't help myself.

Man, that should totally go in my sig, but I don't want to stain my academically relevant quotes Oh well, thanks for the chuckle.
-
I'd rather not play crummy, limited techdemos that carry a full price tag, but that's just me.
-
Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up. I'm sure you know better than the people who actually break down and critique games. I guess it just can't compare to Bonk's Adventure.

The murder rate is homogeneous throughout the world, didn't you ever learn that in school??????

I'll take Virtua Fighter 5, Motor Storm and real next-gen graphics sports games over the Wii any day of the week. The only reason my Wii isn't collecting dust is because I had it modded, so I have a bunch of old Gamecube games to play. It also helps for those $20-value Wii games that are being sold for $50.

FFX-2 was so bad that the vast majority of gamers had no problem with it, and it got near universal critical acclaim. And FFXII really wasn't much different from the past games, and it also enjoyed critical success. Kind of a moot point really. A more pertinent point would be that the PS3's success will likely not be driven by one game. It'll take a handful of top-quality, exclusive titles to justify the price point.
-
The PS3 sells for $700 CDN, and that's without any games and tax on top of the price. So $700 for a PS3 with 3 games and no tax is a great deal.

What games did they want? Of the ten games, they would take Zelda TP, Super Swing Golf, Call of Duty 3 and.. Megaman X Command Mission. Given the last title, it almost seemed kind of arbitrary.
