If Chicago beats New Jersey and Washington beats Indiana tonight, Washington gets 6th and Toronto gets the free pass through the first round. I'm kind of torn. On one hand, it'd be nice to beat Vince Carter, on the other hand, Washington is a complete free pass while New Jersey might actually go 5 or 6 games.

The DS probably has the better software library and it's cheaper. Then again, it's likely to be (competently) emulated before the PSP, so that's something to take into account if you're into the emulation thing.

"HOW COULD THIS HAVE BEEN PREVENTED" Haha. Complete extinction of the human race? Canada doesn't have a culture of gun related crime. No one (intelligent) would claim that Canada hasn't had any mass shootings, but the homicide rate in the US is about 290% higher than it is in Canada. Just saying is all.

School shootings certainly aren't as bad as say, wars of aggression or ethnic cleansing. Not to make light of any loss of innocent life, but it does add some perspective.
-
No, I'm just mocking people who think that (the line in GTA3 was also mocking). It's just common sense that arming more people would actually NOT lower the amount of shootings, but rather it would dramatically increase them. Some people just live in a dream world I guess.

To quote Lazlow from Grand Theft Auto "You know, if more people had guns, we'd have less shootings in this country."

I'm skeptical about the authenticity of those scripts, because they look like something a 12 year old would write. But if they're real, that guy was out of his friggin mind.

They had nothing to lose by being cautious. If the police fucked up, they bear some of the responsibility. Given the early information, it appears that they (or the university) did. And really, the gunman is dead, the people he killed are gone, so the only good that can really come out of this is if there are steps taken that could possibly prevent or at least lessen the scale of a future such event. A better handling of the situation would certainly apply.

From what I've seen of the text messages that were sent to students, it seems like the university and police seriously bungled the whole thing up. The first text - “A shooting incident occurred at West Amber Johnston earlier this morning. Police are on the scene and are investigating. “The university community is urged to be cautious and are asked to contact Virginia Tech Police if you observe anything suspicious or with information on the case. Contact Virginia Tech Police at 231-6411 “Stay attuned to the www.vt.edu. We will post as soon as we have more information.†So there's a shooting, the police are on the scene, yet the guy ends up shooting 30 more people? Why wouldn't they evacuate the facilities immediately, and what the fuck were the police doing while the guy went around shooting another bunch of people? Is the university really such a huge area that the guy was able to avoid the police for so long? I also find it laughable that anyone would suggest arming more people in response to this. The simple logic behind such a plan should be enough. Maybe in this case, if everyone was packing, the guy would have been shitcanned before killing too many people. But then how many more shootings would there be if 95% of the population was carrying guns with them all the time? That just introduces crimes of passion and other stupid shit that regular, non-criminal people are prone to do.

How badly some people get shitted on combined with the ease in procuring firearms would be my best guess. You can say "people should deal with life's shit", but the fact is, some people are weak, and can't deal with it. So they end up flipping their lid and going on rampages with those easily procured firearms. It'd be nice if society didn't brow-beat certain groups and individuals, or have such a perverted idea of what success and worth are, but it does, and some people can't handle that. Of course, this shooting could not be a social issue at all and could instead be the work of a defective individual. Who knows?

I'd avoid Call of Duty or any other "run and gun" FPS, but that's just because I'm a PC FPS player who can't stand the poor aim and reaction time that the controller provides. Dead or Alive Ultimate isn't very good, but I'm sure you know that (It's DOA1 and 2 with some added content that I couldn't quite put my finger on). My XBox 1 experience is limited to games that came out on the PC or PS2, and DOA Ultimate which I owned for about 2 days, so it's pretty much all been covered.

If he blew out his elbow, kiss the season goodbye. Jason Frasor - closer of the future. Maybe Tom Henke can suit up.

I've no idea. I'd guess it's a Terry Funk retirement though.

You could get The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, which I believe came out on the XBox. It has a terrible battle system (but so does Chrono Trigger and you liked that ), but it's one of the deepest RPGs of all time with a massive world to explore and adventure through. I can't say how it would play on a console, as it was designed as a PC game, it's totally worth playing regardless.
-
I've only played the PC version of Fable, which is supposedly longer and has more content, and even that was kind of on the short side. The Xbox version is supposed to be painfully lacking in depth and content. The plot is also cliched to the 11th degree, even more than is usual. It's still fun, because the battle system is fairly action based, and the game has a ton of personality in its dialogue and characters. Not one of the better RPGs around, but worth a play.

Apparently the red ring problem is due to a defect in the heatsink during manufacturing. Or at least, that's the cause of most of the red ring issues. If you're not covered by the warranty, someone can likely fix it, either a local shop or an individual, for cheaper than what MS will charge.

Vancouver and Dallas going into quadruple OT now, Dallas has 66 shots.

Super Paper Mario seems better than its predecessors. Instead of trying to be a fourth rate RPG, it's ditched the turn based battles and greatly increased the platforming, so it's more of a true hybrid now. Good stuff. Now Bust-A-Move Bash needs to come out.

So I got an emulator/ROM disc with supposedly every English NES/SNES/Genesis/SMS/TG16 game every released. It's handier than hooking my PC up to my TV to play the games on a big screen. It's pretty rad.

Out of curiosity, how does that work/affect your weight? I've considered trying this out as a means of meal management, since I don't want to cook three times a day but I don't want to starve or get stuffed, either. I generally maintain my weight. If I keep the size of the meals reasonable and only snack once or twice, I lose weight. I gain weight when I eat two regular meals a day or have excessive snacks. I like leaving a long time between any significant eating and going to sleep, so it works out pretty well. I just eat the meal early in the day and the snacks keeps me going throughout the rest.

Yesterday - Some kind of oatmeal or wheat muffin -> Two pieces of whole wheat toast w/ muenster/edam cheese, three giant god damn pancakes w/ maple syrup, water -> Couple cookies. Today - Banana muffin -> Three pieces of whole wheat toast w/ a bit of muenster and edam cheeese, one piece of leftover pizza, microwaveable shrimp marinara thing, three cookies, diet pepsi. I've been up since midnight, so the muffin was my breakfast and the other stuff was my lunch/dinner (I generally only eat one full meal + snacks in a day)

Well shit, now I have four closers in my fantasy league. Where will I get my holds from now?
