(1) Detroit Red Wings vs. (8) Calgary Flames - I like Kiprusoff to steal it, and Detroit sucks in the playoffs. Calgary in 7. (4) Nashville Predators vs. (5) San Jose Sharks - I think San Jose is the better rounded team. If Thornton produces, they're fine. San Jose in 6. (3) Vancouver Canucks vs. (6) Dallas Stars - Dallas is the much, much better team, but Vancouver has their life preserver Luongo. If Turco doesn't stink up the joint, Dallas in 7. (2) Ducks vs. (7) Minnesota Wild - Ducks in 5. The less said, the better. (1) Buffalo Sabres vs. (8) New York Islanders - The only way NYI even sniffs a single victory in this, is if Buffalo has some bad nerves. Buffalo in 4. (4) Ottawa Senators vs. (5) Pittsburgh Penguins - Ottawa has the experience, just not very good experience. Still, it's not Pittsburgh's time yet. Ottawa in 7. (3) Atlanta Thrashers vs. (6) New York Rangers - Bah. Rangers in 6. (2) New Jersey Devils vs. (7) Tampa Bay Lightning - Tampa is terrible, but I think they'll get a game because of their scoring. NJ in 5.

Bullshit. If you think shootouts and regulation wins giving the same amount of points is fair, try watching a hockey game. Ignore that a crummy, go nowhere team missed the playoffs and think about it.
-
I'm torn on that. On one hand, they were terrible the last two months. On the other hand, they were playing so well earlier in the season and should have had good position going into the stretch run, but they had a sieve in net who cost them about a dozen games. But I guess the end result would be the same if they had snuck in. They would have limped into the playoffs and gotten absolutely murdered in the first round.
-
That's why I don't care too much, because they were going to be killed in the first round anyway. Their goaltending is awful and the team has been playing terrible for the last two months. But still, shootouts need to go, or real wins need to equal three points. I'd say the latter has a good chance of being looked at. Now then - How long until JFJ gets the axe?
-
Fact is, your shitty team isn't even sniffing the playoffs if not for cheap shootout points. Enjoy the sweep though and enjoy Smyth leaving your shitty franchise this summer.
-
Thanks to Lou Lamarello for not even putting his best players in the shootout. That last attempt was sad-sack. Fuck shootouts. Islanders suck, gone in 4. Bah.
-
So now that a team has missed the playoffs due to the retarded shootout rule, does the NHL revisit it and add a 3 points for regulation wins rule? Since it's Toronto, I'm guessing no. If it was one of the darling American teams, then absolutely.
-
Two goals because the goalie is incompetent, two goals because the refs are incompetent. Montreal must be a team of destiny (ie destined to be swept by Buffalo).

If you have a PS2, it'd probably be better to go with MLB The Show 07.

Toronto was playing perfectly fine earlier in the year, but Raycroft was blowing games left and right. Losing 4-3 because two 40 foot point shots go in? How do you defend against that? Then the team started going down the shitter when Raycroft started getting his act together. Well, he got his act together insofar as he stopped regularly losing games for the team. Key word being regularly. They're going to get a crap draft pick either way, might as well get some playoff hockey out of it. The difference between 16th and 15th probably isn't a big deal. Plus, it'll give the youngsters some experience.
-
I'd be more worried about Toronto beating Montreal in regulation. I am imagining a 2-1 Toronto lead late in the 3rd when Raycroft lets in a 40 foot point shot for Montreal to tie the game, send it to overtime and clinch a playoff spot for themselves. Maybe I'm just cynical.
-
If they end up tied in points, you'll see your first team missing the playoffs due to the shootout rule. Montreal has five SO wins, Toronto has four, which is only a one point difference, but ends up being crucial if they're tied in points and Montreal is one up in wins.
-
Fuck Raycroft. Just fuck him.

Creed's retelling of the fight is quite possibly the best thing ever.

McGuire might know a lot, but he's a terrible commentator. He makes stupid comments, jumps to conclusions before seeing replays (often embarrassing himself) and is generally obnoxious. It doesn't help that his PBP partner is probably the worst in the business either.

You can find a DVD5 rip of God of War. As for recommendations, there's far too many. Just go to gamerankings and look for the highest rated games.

Does tsn.ca's webcast suck horribly or is it just me? Also, what's with the shitty 4:00 air time the TV broadcast? It's a major for Christ's sake.

Can I assume that with the advancement of technology that Lara Croft's breasts will be round and smooth rather than pointy and jagged?

I'll just echo the sentiments that the great AJPW matches are perfectly fine without knowing any of the history behind them. And while it's true that the slow-build style might turn off someone who's not expecting it, NJPW is much, much slower build, especially their heavyweight matches. Just don't go in expecting the hyped matches to be 100% full of fast paced super action and you're fine.

^ Those White Sox announcers are pretty much the worst announcers in the history of the universe. Not only do they not say anything intelligent, but they're total homers. It's embarrassing to hear them call the play when the opposing team is doing something positive. They couldn't be more disinterested or disdainful.

Heh yea, the Masters is quite pretentious for being the 3rd most important major. Silly Southern racists. But the tournament is always fun to watch.

The last four minutes of HBK-Cena was pretty fantastic. Unfortunately the match went twenty minutes before that, a good chunk of which was horrible. Both guys looked downright lost during a few moments early in the match. The long corner sequence after HBK's leg work was a painful mess and really not an effective face comeback. The leg selling I'm not too worried about, as I don't believe a guy needs to sell a bodypart after it's done being worked on, unless they're playing up an injury story or something. Also, Cena should really learn how to properly apply an STF. In any case, it was just typical WWE main event style, which usually means a well booked stretch run, but this match had a worse than usual leadup to that stretch run. -

I thought Batista/UT was great for two minutes, completely dull for ten, and decent for another two . The crowd and the spectacle really made it seem better than it was. I'm not fan of matches where they kill time with pedestrian, uninteresting work. It also didn't help that the sequences they used in the stretch run were absolutely smoked by another match I'd seen earlier in the day (despite the match in question not exactly being a classic itself). It wasn't terrible stuff or anything, it just stuck out like a sore thumb in a match that is garnering so much praise. The important parts of the match were laid out well, and were able to hide Batista's weaknesses, but the filler stuff exposed them fairly effectively. Still, it was a decent match, a lot better than what I expected. -

Sounds like a tongue-in-cheek work. Kind of like how the WWE has worked their smarky fans into hating Cena so much that they'll pay to see him lose.
