Sounds like whiny Tekken fans who are upset that Virtua Fighter is the more highly regarded game. Some people just prefer a certain type of gameplay over others.

And yet Virtua Fighter 4 managed to out-sell Tekken 5?

I liked the call-out to Tiberius in this week's episode. Atia's face turn is totally complete. Gaia playing a face at the end is ironic. They didn't really play up her antics much at all in that episode. The mini-battle at the end was fun.

He was quite cutthroat before he ascended to power. The proscriptions being a prime example. After the war was over it was a different story though, as he ended up being quite virtuous and benevolent.

I don't think anyone was serious about that. It's fairly easy to have the "sales = quality" or "critical success = quality" arguments thrown back in your face. Not to mention the fallaciousness of it. It's probably more accurate to say that long running game series generally tend to peak, followed by a decline, with a spike here or there.

Because of OoT being enormously overrated, MM only said less than half as much. Sound logic. MGS3 sold 2/3 of MGS2 by the way. They must both be horrible games! 2/10!

The complaints about Raiden were just such an irrelevant criticism of the game that I never took them seriously. Both games had critical success anyway. Most if not all of the dissenting opinions came from, uh, disreputable sources. MGS2 certainly had its issues, but it clearly had a lot going for it. I liked the gameplay in MGS2 better than the original, although that could be because I've most recently played the original with the inferior GameCube controller compared to the PS2 controller. I like the gameplay in both of them better than the third though, even though the third had the best story and overall package.

Hitachi drive has a hole in the top right quadrant of the tray, along with a semi-circle "cut out" right next to the opening in the middle. Samsung doesn't have that, and the Phillips I have no idea.

Which company released the shitty drives? I've read that Samsung and Phillips are both good, which would leave the Hitachi as the one. Figures that they would be terrible drives when they're also the hardest to mod.

It being the first fps for a lot of people was the big deal I guess. It's not one of the best 35 or so FPS games I've ever played, and I've not played more than about 40-45. Bland level design and been there done that weaponry. It was basically a completely destitute man's version of Tribes, just 3 years later.

    Final Fantasy VI Advance?

They're optional though! I don't mind doing those long side-quests once, but after that forget it.

How so? Gaia wanted Pullo, he turned her down, so now Gaia is taking it out on Eirene. Eirene tells Pullo, so Pullo confronts Gaia, but Pullo is (sexually) frustrated because Eirene isn't giving it up for him because of her pregnancy, so he gives in to the temptation & fucks Gaia. I don't think she has any desire for Pullo. It seemed like her and the 3rd in command guy (forget his name) were plotting something in earlier episodes, and what she's doing doesn't make much sense given that. First she tried to get with Vorenus, and now Pullo, and if they really wanted to get rid of those two, that seems like a woefully inadequate way of doing it. I suppose if she's only in it for herself it makes sense to partner up with the top guy in the command chain. Maybe I was just reading the earlier episodes wrong and she really only wants power for herself. She has a great rack in any case

That whole Gaia thing is just incoherent. The lead-up to Antony and Octavia's wedding was funny to me. I guess because it was tongue-in-cheek or something. Lepidus being ignored by the other 2 triumvirs was also humorous. I wish this season was 13 episodes

I find myself wishing for the side-stories to go away. Most of them aren't even all that well developed in the first place and they're just taking up time from the real story. The real story which now has 3 episodes left and a a lot to cover.

It was like they were trying to make it so bad that it would be comical..except they weren't. It was just that bad.

If they can make them that fast, why not? They sell well and get near, if not universal praise from game critics. You're also underselling the effect that changing the setting can have on the game. I don't know about others, but the big hook to the GTA series for me is wandering around the city exploring and doing random crap. It also keeps the quests fresh, even though they've basically recycled the quest types from game to game. Given that the cities in GTA3/VC/SA are quite different, I'd say that makes them viable games in their own right. GTA3/VC/SA are no more the exact same game than Morrowind and Oblivion are.

See, it's hard to take this seriously when you're in love with the new Zelda game when it's really not much different from OoT. It's also a problem that the opinion "all of the GTA games are exactly the same" is incorrect. If you want to criticise it for not making huge leaps with each successive game, I have thousands of other games that didn't really differ from their predecessors a whole lot. The basic gameplay of any genre generally does not change much from game to game. There are other more important differences that set the games apart.

They should show some creativity and completely change the gameplay instead of releasing the exact same game over and over!!!

By that logic, most sequels are just "expansions". A real expansion is an addon to an existing game. GTA VC and SA were not addons to GTA3, they were seperate games with different engines. You can call it whatever you want, but both sequels were 100 hour games and provided crucial differences from their predecessors. So I really fail to see the negative here.

Brutus committed suicide after the second battle of Philippi, although he did win the first battle of Philippi. I think they were kind of going for an analogy to Caesar's death, since Brutus was surrounded and stabbed multiple times as Caesar was. That's just my guess though. I liked how Brutus' character was portrayed in the show, but I can't help thinking that he was just a selfish aristocrat, hiding behind the veil of being the supposed "saviour" of the Republic. As were all of Caesar's opponents really, with the exception of Cato, who was probably just an idiot.

I'm waiting for one more quality game to compliment VF5 before I buy a PS3. I have the cash saved up too, but I just don't want to buy it yet. Christ, maybe I should before Sony gimps the NA PS3s like they did to the Europe ones.

No, they're not. That's like saying Morrowind and Oblivion are the same game. Ignoring the additions of new cars and new types of vehicles (planes, helicopters, motorcycles) and new types of quests and stat levelling and a bunch of stuff I'm probably forgetting about, each game's world is quite different from the others. And since exploring the city and doing shit is the big draw to the game, I'd say different world design is significant. Really, don't be ridiculous.

Waiting a month or so after launch is smart, because then you can see if there are widespread problems with the system. But if you're not planning on waiting long enough for a price-drop, and you can easily find one, why not get it? I knew the Wii would basically be a paperweight for a while after launch, but I had no problem getting one, and it's doubtful that there will be a price-drop within two years, so I just bought it anyway.

Dwight popping out of the darkness during the Jan/Michael scene was fantastic. The first half of the episode was terrible, but the last half was solid.
