    Rome season 2

Brutus and Cassius were forced out of Rome by a violent mob who were angry over Caesar's assassination. Marcus Antonius made a powerful speech at Caesar's funeral, which is what helped foster that attitude in the people. This wasn't shown in the series. If I remember correctly, Brutus and Cassius don't ever return to Rome. Octavius was just playing politics by siding with the Optimates and Cicero. Possible future spoilers - I think Octavius' goal all along was to take control of Rome, it was just more difficult for him than it was for Caesar because there was an extra faction to deal with this time. Marcus Antonius wanted control of Gaul, so he went to take it by military force. Thus you had Octavius offering to use his legions for the Senate, to get Antonius out of Gaul.

What game(s) are you playing now?

Europa Universalis III and Civilization IV, soon to be playing Hearts of Iron 2.

Ken was 17 and Ryu was 18 Chun Li being captured by Vega was a little weird though, especially when he was torturing her. The Street Fighter Alpha movie was such fanservice. I think they wanted to see how many characters they could cram into the movie, and as such, none of them had any development.

    Final Fantasy III

FFIII is fucking awful~!~! It makes FFX-2 look like Comentarii de Bello Gallico.

100 reasons why Sega is/was stupid.

You sure convinced me. 69) No more traditional Phantasy Star games. Does that count? I like PSO and all, but show me some of the old Phantasy Star love.

100 reasons why Sega is/was stupid.

After having recently played FFX, I can say the voice acting isn't as bad as legend says. Yuna is consistently sub-par and occasionally she is tremendously awful, while Tidus isn't consistently as bad, but still has some awful lines. Everyone else is generally at least passable. It wasn't good on the whole, but it wasn't bad either.

Certainly true. And whoever hired those VAs should probably be blackballed from the industry forever.

Did Sega even hire real actors, or did they just pull random people off the streets? I mean god damn, a lot of those clips sounded like random people who had literally no clue about how to properly deliver their lines. As bad as most dubs are, usually the actors don't sound completely clueless.

Greatest WWF Matches of the 90's Tourney

Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart, 3/23/97, WrestleMania 13, "I Quit" match OR Rocky Maivia vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley, 8/30/98, SummerSlam, Ladder match for IC Title Austin vs. Bret 3/23/97 Bret Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith, 12/17/95, In Your House #5, WWF Title OR Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair, 4/5/92, WrestleMania VIII, WWF Title I think these two should have been given weaker opposition, because they're both rather strong. For example, both of these are lightyears ahead of the next two matches, but one of those is going to continue and one of these is going to be eliminated. Anyway, Bret vs. DBS 12/17/95 Ten Man Tag, Canadian Stampede, 7/6/97 OR Undertaker vs. Mankind, 6/28/98, King of the Ring, Hell in a Cell Neither of these were all that good. The former was mostly just heat and the latter was just two bumps. I'll take the the 10 man tag because that was at least decent. Royal Rumble, 1/19/92, Royal Rumble, Winner gets WWF Title OR Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper, 4/5/92, WrestleMania VIII, IC Title Bret vs. Piper 4/5/92 Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart, 3/20/94, WrestleMania X OR Steve Austin/Shawn Michaels vs. Owen Hart/Davey Boy Smith, 5/26/97, Monday Night RAW, Tag Team Titles Bret vs. Owen 3/20/94 Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon, 8/27/95, SummerSlam, Ladder match for IC Title OR Owen Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith, 3/1/97, Monday Night RAW, European Title Tournament Final HBK vs. Ramon 8/27/95 Randy Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior, 3/24/91, WrestleMania VII, Retirement match OR The Rock vs. Mankind, 1/24/99, Royal Rumble, "I Quit" match for WWF Title Savage vs. Warrior 3/24/91 Bret Hart vs. Curt Hennig, 6/13/93, King of the Ring, KOTR Tournament Semifinals OR Bret & Owen Hart vs. Steiner Brothers, 1/11/94, Wrestlefest 1994 Bret vs. Henning 6/13/93 Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind, 6/22/96, Mind Games, WWF Title OR Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels, 11/25/92, Survivor Series, WWF Title Bret vs. HBK 11/25/92 Steve Austin vs. Dude Love, 5/31/98, Over the Edge, No CO/No DQ for WWF Title OR Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart, 3/31/96, WrestleMania XII, Iron Man match for WWF Title Austin vs. Foley 5/31/98 Bret Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith, 8/29/92, SummerSlam, IC Title OR Bret Hart vs. Undertaker vs. Steve Austin vs. Vader, 2/16/97, Final Four, WWF Title Bret vs. DBS 8/29/92 Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon, 3/20/94, WrestleMania X, Ladder Match for IC Title OR Diesel vs. Bret Hart, 11/20/95, Survivor Series, NO CO/No DQ for WWF Title Diesel vs. Bret 11/20/95 Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels, 10/5/97, Badd Blood, Hell in a Cell OR The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge/Christian, 10/17/99, No Mercy, Ladder Match *gag* UT vs. HBK 10/5/97 Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart, 8/29/94, SummerSlam, Cage Match for WWF Title OR Bret Hart vs. Curt Hennig, 8/26/91, SummerSlam, IC Title Bret vs. Henning 8/26/91 Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin, 11/17/96, Survivor Series OR Diesel/Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon/1-2-3 Kid, 10/30/94, Action Zone, WWF Tag Titles Bret vs. Austin 11/17/96

    Wii

It's easy to exploit vs. real people, if they don't hit power serves. You can hit unreturnable winners every time against slow serves.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

The Street Fighter 2 animated movie wasn't horrible. Well, the real version wasn't horrible. The TV series was pretty good too. Those weren't exposed to the hideousness that is mainstream American film making though.
  12. World's Worst Man

    Wii

The Tennis AI sucks. They return a lot of balls, but they don't hit difficult shots. Once you get the hang of getting them so out of position that they can't possibly return your next shot, you can start dominating.

    Wii

Because it would ruin the illusion that the PS3 is a colossal failure. It has a million units sold in the US now, and I'd say that's pretty good considering the circumstances (although it's pretty mediocre in the grand scheme). It's also ahead of the XBox 360's pace during the first 3 months of its launch. Still, I somehow doubt that fact will stop people from claiming Sony's sky is falling.
  14. World's Worst Man

    Wii

Not really. Sony trying to sell the PS3 based on its hardware is purely coincidental, while the real problem is the price, combined with a lack of any sort of quality software. The PS2 and XBox 360 also had laughable launch-window software, but they didn't cost nearly as much. The Wii is selling on the merits of the hype surrounding the control system, but that won't translate into long-term success. Software will.

    Final Fantasy VI Advance?

I have the PS1 version, and it's fine other than the small delays on accessing the menu. Still not nearly as bad as the abortion of a PS1 port that was Chrono Trigger.
  16. World's Worst Man

    Wii

The XBox 360 has more good games coming out in the next 6 months than the Wii even has announced though. But anyway, I'm surprised that someone who works for a game console developer doesn't know that software drives hardware sales. And surely HD can't be a selling point for a system right? I just can't believe it's anything more than an "added bonus" for most people.

    Tennis Thread: February.

Whatever happened to Jennifer Capriati? I didn't really follow tennis too closely during her comeback, and I have no idea why she isn't around anymore.

It's the logical choice really. They're not going anywhere in the playoffs assuming they even make it. The team is built to win in 2-3 years, not now, so there's no point in keeping a highly sought after trade asset when he could be flipped for some high-end prospects/young players. On the other hand, Tucker should be kept because he probably has more good years left in him than Sundin. With that being said, I sincerely doubt Sundin will be moved.

Greatest WWF Matches of the 90's Poll/Tourney

I like Bret-Austin from WMXIII less and less each time I see it. It's certainly not a flawless match, as some segments of the match just aren't very good (crowd brawling for example) and there's generally not enough intensity from Bret. It's still a high quality match and I'd probably put it in the top 10 WWF matches of all time, but only because there's not really a lot to choose from. I like the theory that this match was the pre-cursor to the lazy, over-booked brawls that became a staple in the WWF main event scene. It's a shame, because the style wasn't really all that interesting and was never really done better, except for perhaps the JBL/Guerrero blood-bath. It was definitely a huge step-down from the typical Bret Hart title defenses you saw during the mid 90's.

    Goodbye Samoa Joe

I'd imagine it might have something to do with TNA and NJPW having a deal, and Joe being the main component of the ROH-NOAH feud. I doubt NJPW would like one of their partner's wrestlers to work for their rival on home-soil. That would explain why the other TNA workers weren't pulled.

100 reasons why Sega is/was stupid.

Third parties abandoning the Dreamcast to make PS2 games was what killed the Dreamcast. The early launch combined with a solid year of titles is probably the only reason they had any success in the first place. Why the third parties were so quick to jump ship can probably be attributed to the fuck-uppery of the previous generation and a half.

Have you ever got so frustrated with a game that you...

The name screwups in SF2 were apparently just human error. I think I've read that the Tyson lawsuit theory was a myth.

    51. Phantasy Star Universe - They release a follow-up to the well-liked Phantasy Star Online, and remove the gameplay gimmick that was the main attraction to PSO. Not only that, but the coding of the game is so sub-par that it's possible for any idiot to download a hacking program and ruin the game, which lead to their server economies being fucked beyond all belief and many, many people being griefed. They also locked a lot of the content for the multiplayer, meaning stuff you saw in the single player wasn't available in the online portion until ST unlocked it in an update. This lead to many people hitting the level cap and having nothing to do for two to three weeks at a time. Oh, and all the while they're charging $10 a month for what is essentially a Diablo-style game.

    Rome season 2

They really took some liberties with the historical facts in last week's episode. It sucks that they're ending the show after this season, since there's many interesting events during the Julio-Claudian dynasty that they could use for future seasons.
