Awesome. Guess I'll have to use my silly 3 foot HDMI cable which means the PS3 will have to go in one of the shelves of my TV desk, and hopefully the thing won't overheat (there's opening on the front and back but not the sides). Either that or use my PS2 component cable, heh.

Does the premium PS3 come with an HDMI cable, or did I just imagine that? Also - Where are the heat vents on the system? Just at the back, or do they have them on the side too?

I have the full game. The single player is awfully fun. Great maps great gameplay mechanics.

That's pretty good then. I'm not really keen on paying for online play, especially since there aren't many consoles games I'd actually want to play online, but I do like having access to the marketplace.

When are the PS1 titles from the Playstation Store going to be playable on the console? Around launch time I heard January, and well, here we are.

I don't think you have to cancel your subscription once the trial ends. The email I got said I'd have to signup to continue my XBL Gold membership. They don't have any credit card or billing information for me anyway, so it'd be hard for them to just continue the trial into a real membership. I too would like to know the restrictions on the silver accounts (outside of not being able to play online games obviously).

I'd buy a PS3 for the VF5 launch if there was literally any other good looking PS3 game either already out, or coming out within a month or so. There isn't, so I'm going to wait to play VF5 on the XBox 360.

Probably. I've heard they'll be 120 gigs, which might be obscenely expensive considering the 20 gig HD sells for $130 CDN. But I don't see why they wouldn't sell the things.

Funny, because here the basic PS3 only costs $50 more than the premium XBox 360. They both come with with a 20 gig hard drive, and the PS3 has the HDMI port and blu-ray playback obviously. So essentially the basic PS3 is a better package than the premium XBox 360 by quite a bit, and it only costs $50 more. Add the HD-DVD drive to the 360 (which makes it roughly equivalent to the PS3) and the XBox costs $150 more than the PS3. It'll be interesting to see how much the new 360 with larger HD and HDMI port costs.

Does the slowdown only happen in 1080p? 1920x1080 is a ridiculous resolution, and even the highest of the high end computers would have a tough time running new games in that resolution with maxed out graphics settings. I'd be more surprised if the system could run games at that resolution with no problems at all.

You can get the greatest hits version of FFVII for a decent price. The original version goes for over $100 on ebay. I've been trying to wrap my head around that one, since the original doesn't offer any gameplay advantage over the greatest hits version, as far as I know. And the original sold millions of copies, so it's not exactly a rare item.

There might be an option to deal with the firewall login, I don't know. You'd have to poke around in network settings.

Sounds like a firewall issue, school networks like to block all kinds of ports and what not.

PS1 images are much, much larger than 16-bit or earlier images, so you don't see them for download on random ROM sites like you do for SNES, Genesis, etc. You could try newsgroups or other P2P if BT is no good.

BitTorrent for PS1 images. Any of the big index sites will have what you're looking for.

Yes, I play games to completion, or very close, before I lay final judgment on them I just don't remember enough specific, detailed points to write a review of a game I played 9 months ago. It's the same for wrestling matches actually, although a specific match can be re-watched in 30 minutes while an RPG can take 1.5-2 weeks to replay
