Are you "Monty Burns" to me, or should I address you as Mr. Burns? -

Final Fantasy X - Piano Theme: Good choice. New ECW: The suck. Nintendo Wii: The Stan Hansen system. -
For the stuff I own on DVD, I always watch it subtitled, with the intention of watching it dubbed the second time through, just for shits and giggles. This never works out for two reasons though. After I watch a series, I usually don't feel like watching it again for 2-4 years, and since it's been so long since I've seen it, I want to experience it the "proper" way again. And secondly, I've yet to see a dub that was any better than mediocre, with most of them being awful, so it kind of makes me wary of my viewing experience being ruined. Say what you will about dubs, but they more often than not leave me feeling embarrassed, which kind of ruins the whole atmosphere. P.S. Anime female Triple H is fantastic.

*waves to Cowboy Bebop* The only knock I can see against Eva is the terrible ending (and really, even the movie ending wasn't that good). Whereas the pimped to high heavens Cowboy Bebop had almost no plot development, yet doesn't seem to catch any flak for it. To me, that's being overrated I think PlanetES might be my favourite anime ever right now. I was originally interested in it because I like shows that take place in space. But it ended up being quite the intense drama, and I am such a sucker for human drama.

n00b's first post -- Favourite Movie Moments?
World's Worst Man replied to tigeraid's topic in Television & Film
1. Favourite Action Sequence or Fight Sequence Something from Time And Tide or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. 2. Favourite One-liner/quote Something from God of Gamblers or God of Gamblers Return. 3. Favourite Sex/Nude Scene Probably the one from uh, shit. What was with movie with Hugh Grant and Elle Macpherson? 4. Favourite Movie (or movies, maybe up to 3or so) God of Gamblers Return Jin-Roh Kid's Return Hanabi Well actually, anything involving Takeshi Kitano. 5. Favourite movie moments period, scenes that have left a lasting memory in you, or influenced you in some way. From Jin-Roh - a young girl terrorist blowing herself up rather than being arrested. From God of Gamblers Return - The wife of CYF's character dying while their unborn fetus is in a jar right next to her. The villain's men had basically cut the fetus out and left the wife for dead. None of this was actually shown, but it was still a fairly gruesome scene in an otherwise light-hearted movie. -
Comments that don't warrant a thread

Someone at Nintendo is clearly a Stan Hansen fan. Kudos for those who get it. -
Well, one that's on free TV at least.

Right, Danielson. If TNA and the new ECW brand really do go to war over the indy fan demographic, Danielson will be a big coup for whoever signs him.

The show wasn't technically a PPV, but it was more or less the same thing. NOAH's 5/7/05 show, Osamu Namiguchi vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima. Really, really good opener, that would probably be herladed as a MOTYC in some promotions. The beauty of the match was that it was two young guys having a a really basic match. They didn't do any spectacular moves and they didn't no-sell a bunch of stuff to create drama. Nothing they did was going to steal the show from anyone else, but they still managed to get the crowd going and get themselves over big time. The match wasn't even close to being as good as Bret-Owen at WMX, but it was almost a perfect opening match considering the circumstances.

Indeed, good observation. For the ECW roster, Vince could definitely pull together a bunch of guys who would compare favourably to TNA's x-division talent. London, Spanky, Gibson, Punk for starters. I'd assume Cabana would be a good possibility. Then there's also the 2nd best wrestler in North America, who hasn't committed to TNA or WWE yet. I wonder if he'll end up somewhere by the year's end. TNA could end up being beaten at their own game if they're not careful. Of course, this is all assuming WWE handles ECW the right way

I wouldn't mind if it was a feeder system as long as the ring product was different from WWE. And actually, I don't even care to see the old "ECW style" (meaning garbage brawls), but what I do want to see is the attitude in ECW where the wrestlers were allowed to go out and have whatever sort of match they were capable of having. That's the only thing I personally care about. They could even tape the show before RAW or Smackdown (meaning it won't even be close to having the ECW feel) and I'd be happy as long as the wrestling was good. But I also don't think they'll draw many old ECW fans with that approach, since it wouldn't be an authentic ECW experience. Although to counter that, there would be a good chance that they'd draw a bunch of indy/workrate fans simply by putting good workers out there and letting them cut loose. What Vince simply must not do however, is use a watered down wrestling style combined with an atmosphere that bears no resemblance to an ECW atmosphere. I think the whole concept will completely bomb if it's carried out that way. So in my opinion, either the atmosphere or wrestling product needs to be good, preferably both, in order to draw any new fans. If both are there, it will have the most success. If neither are there, it'll fail.
-
The initial test will be whether or not ECW is allowed to use an ECW-esque wrestling style, or whether it'll be more watered-down WWE crap. If Vince really wants to let ECW do it's own thing, he won't exert any control over what kind of wrestling style they use or what kind of angles they run. If the "WWE style" is forced on the wrestlers, I wouldn't doubt that the whole thing is being either a) intentionally sabotaged from the start or b) used to develop wrestlers for the main WWE roster.

The link I posted has bass tabs. Not for every song, but quite a few.

So what's your idea of stiff then? When a guy hits his opponent so hard that it causes a brain aneurysm? The lariats in that video sure appear quite snug, I don't know what there is to complain about.

If Toronto had found their hot goaltender at the same time as the Habs, they'd be in Montreal's spot right now, maybe even 6th. I picked Colorado to be "my team" since Toronto missed the playoffs. Looking like a good pick right now. Truthfully, I don't really care as long as Calgary or Ottawa doesn't win the Cup. To me, the Simpsons have been terrible ever since they started grumbling about cancelling the show. Diet Coke isn't so good, yes. Diet Pepsi #1. -
If I don't see some bridging suplexes and good looking strikes (for a change) in any "ECW" matches, I don't see the point in even watching the promotion. Although I'm semi-joking, that this new "ECW" will presumably be taped before RAW/Smackdown makes me wonder if the style of wrestling on that show will indeed be authentic ECW or if it will be just more of the same WWE junk, just involving more weapons and the like. ie. a WWE hardcore match.

I'll go if they ever bring Super Dragon in. I want him to shoot monkey flip me. But seriously, I should probably go to one of these shows eventually.

Their music has some weird quality to it that turns me off. I can't quite put it into words, it's just some similar sound that a lot of their songs have. The group is alright, I just don't dig them a whole lot, despite being a huge mark for female vocal gothic metal. I also don't think the vocals are up to snuff compared to say, Tarja Turunen or Sharon Den Adel. re: Sinergy: Upload some And since we're on the topic, anyone think they could give me the name of the song/artist in this video? It sounds like Epica to me, but I don't really know, and I don't know the song. http://rapidshare.de/files/17165229/song1.avi.html

Probably Kobashi vs. Misawa 1/20/97 then. I'm not quite sure if it all happened exactly in the last 5 minutes, but Misawa drilling Kobashi with both of his "super finishers" and Kobashi kicking out was pretty surreal. Only to then be beaten by a simple running elbow. That match probably solidified Kobashi's reputation as being a guy who could take tons of punishment and never quit.

Any 5 minutes from the stretch run of any great 1990's AJPW match.

Quoted for truth. It was not unlike a couple of the spots in the Joe-Styles match, where AJ didn't know what to do and Joe had to cover for him. True, the spots didn't come off like they were supposed to, but the cover job kept them from being a disaster. Same holds true for the finish of James-Trish (although the finish looked horrible anyway, but that doesn't take away from the good improv job they did after the original finish was botched.)

Jamie Knoble is the Best ROH wrestler ever
World's Worst Man replied to a topic in General Wrestling
I don't see anything that Gibson does better than Joe, other than maybe the act of selling itself, because Joe's selling tends to be fairly unnatural, even if his knowledge of when and how to sell is top notch. But truthfully, Gibson's selling gets to be rather goofy and unnatural as well, so I'm not so sure. And Danielson, I really don't see anything Gibson does better. There are times when it feels like Gibson isn't as intense or into the match as he should be, which leads to a flat feeling. Not all the time, but I've noticed it in patches of his work. Really not sure how the conclusion that Gibson is the best is reached. -

You filthy, god damn plaigerizer. I had to take a pass on KHII (even pi****** it). The gameplay in the first was just too mind-numbing to me, even if it was pretty neat seeing all of the different worlds for the first time. Seems like the sequel is more or less the same thing, and I don't really want to trudge through that sort of game again. Although maybe when I'm done with the 8 or so backlogged PS2 RPGs I have, I might give it a shot.
