World's Worst Man replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in No Holds Barred
Did you "mash bangers" or whatever the devil it is they do? -
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/13/new-drag...is-looking-ace/ This game looks like damn fun. I'd be interested in knowing how deep/difficult it gets as the game advances, but the idea is nifty.

The lack of component cables is insane. There's no reason not to include them other than the company wants people to buy their overpriced cables. I'm just using my PS2 component cables, as there's only three component cable inputs in the house, and I have four consoles that could use them (360/PS2/PS3/Wii), so PS2 gets composite again. I would have liked to use HDMI, but I stupidly only have a 3 foot cable, and to make that work I'd have to put on PS3 in a somewhat confined space, which I definitely want to avoid. I certainly want some good PS1 titles that I don't already own. Like say, FFT and Xenogears. Make it happen, please.

It's not like they're going to be dropping the 80 gig price anytime soon, although it's possible they could bundle it up real nice. But either way, if you want one for the future, there's no reason not to get a 60 gig now since it's significantly cheaper than the 80. I'll be using mine as a PS2, since I can put the PS2 itself on a more accessible TV for my brother, and I had no memory space left for save files anyway. I won't actually be buying a PS3 game until possibly Stranglehold, which is more than a month away.

I finally got a system that didn't have a high-pitched noise coming from it. The interface of the whole system is the best of the three current gen systems. It's nice not to have to pay to access supposedly "free"content in their online shop. They price gouge just as much as MS for the stuff they actually charge for, but insignificant stuff is given away for free (like extra armor models and such). A good number of PS1 games are already available, but nothing too good. There's a few nifty looking things in the regular game section. The system runs so quiet that it's almost hard to believe. It's definitely the best machine of the three, not that it matters until the games start coming out.

Terrible. It wouldn't be so bad if we got the European bundle for $600 (the one with two controllers and two games), but we're not. This is just suicidal and fucking stupid.

Gahaha. I bought a PS3 but I'm returning it because after a couple minutes it started making loud, uncommon noise, like a high-pitched shrieking sound you'd hear from a dying DVD-drive. It's not the drive, because nothing is in it, but I'm pretty sure it's the fans. I swear to fuck I have the worst luck with getting lemon electronic equipment. I must say however, a properly working PS3 runs super quiet.

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/13/sony-swi...-us-after-july/ According to the SCEE president, SCEA is going to stop producing the 60 gig model once their stock is depleted. If it's true, Sony is basically the most idiotic company in the history of the universe. But I'm also kind of skeptical based just on how this guy worded it, and the fact that Europe and Australia are getting new 60 gig bundles with two games and two controllers, so why would they phase out that model in the US? Jesus Christ this guy better be full of shit. If not, this was a worse move than not dropping the price at all. God dammit, Sony.

Well that is good. It also sounds like SBB will have online play, unless they're just being coy to not deflate everyone's hopes and dreams.

That Disaster game looked fantastic. If it's true, fuck Nintendo. It's hard enough seeing all of the hyperbolic nonsense from the droves of fanboys, but seeing Nintendo pull shit like that would just make it exponentially worse. It's one thing if they just cater to the casuals. It's a different story if they cater to the casuals while simultaneously telling the hardcores to go screw themselves. It's ultimately not a very good idea.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
World's Worst Man replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
Why thank you. I was only really referring to one person specifically in my post. I'm sure there are others like that however, just based upon the comments on Kennedy's blog. You should check out the latest issues of the WON, as it contains some interesting information. That avenue is the only way the public will get the whole story, because it's not really possible for Meltzer to get all of the relevant information out there when he's on a bunch of talk shows that are only interested in information that further sensationalizes the story. These media types are quite similar to the uninformed, naive mark fans, in that they don't want the whole story. It's just their motivation that differs. In the media's case, they want a hot story that will produce ratings for their shows, and they won't let the facts get in the way of that goal. In the marks' case, they don't want to believe that their heroes are flawed, or that their favourite wrestling promotion deserves some of the blame, and they too won't let the facts get in the way of that. And no, I'm not criticising anyone in particular for thinking this way, other than those who have made it painfully obvious that they do. The wellness policy has some serious problems, regardless of Benoit's toxicology results. The higher threshold for positives, the "relative" system based on initial results, the lack of effective punishment, and the lack of supervision while samples are collected are all issues that need to be corrected. Not to mention the fact that WWE continues to push talentless muscle heads, showing absolutely no signs of understanding the fundamental issue. These are some of the things that need to be made abundantly clear, yet are so conveniently ignored by some, or never heard by others. -

It's the greatest gimmick since the Nintendo Wii. -

It is if you want to get over with the easily impressionable. Yea, appealing to the lowest common denominator. The uninformed masses would be better served to hear from someone who might not be a great talker, but knows what the fuck they're talking about (Meltzer). But then you run into the problem of those people not hearing what they don't want to hear. That the wrestling business they're such huge marks for is seriously flawed and in need of an overhaul. Or that the wrestlers they're infatuated with are greatly flawed, licentious human beings. These people are recalcitrant to the truth, and instead, give credence to the word of a guy solely because he can cut a quality wrestling promo! It truly is a perfect example of people elevating the celebrities they see on TV on a pedestal, where their word is gold and where they can do no wrong. It's so hilariously lacking in any sort of reason or wisdom. -

When discussing something, charisma is more important than actually being intelligent and well-informed. You heard it here first folks. -

They'd end up looking good to anyone with a brain and a modest amount of knowledge regarding the subject. The idea that charisma is more important than credibility and facts is not only ridiculous, it's insane. -

Why? Ken Kennedy rules dude.......rules. I see him on TV, so he obviously knows what he's talking about. Not like that hack Meltzer who actually researches the subjects. -

Lets face it, some people are so into the WWE that they cannot bring themselves to see the situation realistically. Kennedy's hilariously uninformed comments are easy for them to cling to, because they truly believe that he really knows the companies policies just because he works there, even when he clearly does not know. It's quite perverse to see people sticking their head in the sand when wrestlers are dying, just because they like watching professional wrestling on TV. -
At least you actually played the game before criticising it. It's a foreign concept to some

Thanks for posting these and all of the other interviews. I'm not really watching any TV, so I like catching them on youtube. -
This is really the worst thread I've ever seen. But I also somewhat understand the need for certain people to maintain their intarweb rep after being exposed as a hack.

Reading comprehension ftw.

It was terrible. Little if anything new in the way of games. They spent too much time patting themselves on the back and showing that WiiFit gimmick. The new Mario Kart having online play was the best news, which was something that should be a given at this point. Their first party games look pretty good, but the lack of third party stuff was really telling I think.
-
I always wanted to be a person who, without any provocation, posts in a thread about a particular game just to say I'm not interested and that I'm not going to buy it, so here I am. But seriously, I hated the first one back in the day, but I'm going to give this one a go. Maybe the game has gotten better since the original, or I'll have a newfound appreciation of it in my older age. The screenshots look real nice too, which helps.

AO is 18+, M is 17+, so there's no extra rating to throw in there. It's the fault of the console developers and retailers really. Although it'd be interesting to see whether the console dev's tune would change if the retailers would be willing to sell those AO games.

Gran Turismo 4 (the lowest selling in the series) has outsold every racing game outside of Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, and it's not even close. Nothing that's been released lately is even in its league, and GT3 and GT1 are the two best selling racing games of all time, in that order. Hence why I think it being overlooked is crazy. At this point, it's probably only behind GTA in terms of important (read; best selling) console game franchises.
