  1. Just out of curiosity, does anyone even have a clue how far back the WWE's tape collection go? I know their own stuff must go back at least to the days of Capitol Wrestling on the Dumont Network in the 50's. but I've also heard that a lot of the stuff pre-1970's has been lost, including many important title changes like the Stasiak win, and both times Sammartino won the belt. How about the Jim Crockett Promotions stuff? or the AWA stuff? Might those very well go even further back, into the 40's or the 50's?

    Press Your Luck host Killed

They've listed the specific episodes they're airing on the GSN boards.
  3. I could see them doing like a TV Movie or something with the original cast showing what their characters are doing today, and attending a class reunion or something, but not a feature film.

They have aried the larson epsiodes in full before, but they won't be a part of the marathon. THe marathon will mostly be later peisodes from the 1985 season.

    No More Primtetime for TNA

Ouiy, I would say this is a step down, it's debatable, but I think 11pm on a Thursday is worse then a Saturday. Just another nail in the coffin. I'm calling it now, AMW vs MNM at Survivor Series.

    Smackdown Spoilers

I just love seeing Finlay stiff the shit out everyone.
  7. Supposedly Mark Canterbury is training for a comeback down in OVW. Good god, just what we need again, more Hillbillies. I'd assume Trevor Murdoch will be repackaged as Trevor Godwinn?

    Wrestlemania....

I think Wrestlemania has a shot. The Smackdown Three Way and the Money in the Bank will obviously be good, but I think even Cena and Triple H could be pretty good if they put their working shoes on. I just wanna see Lashly and Finlay stiff the shit out of each other, and hope they don't get relegated to the pre-show.

    OAO Destination X thread

This was about on par with the average WWE Show. There was some great stuff in the Mid-Card, particularly the Four Way, but the stuff with the Main Event guys was either Atrocious (The Eight Man Tag) or just complely dull and uninteresting (Christian vs Brown) and of course we couldn't go through one whole PPV without our Sprtz Entertainment ending.
  10. Bristol was actually a very nice city, untill they decided to level all the factories and eliminate most of the jobs in the 80's when they built a Shopping Mall that was never able to do any significant buisiness.
  11. So basically what you're saying is The argument that one could move elsewhere to a place with a lower cost of living is false, as it assumes that one would be paid the same amount of money for the same amount of work as one gets in the place with a high cost of living. Anyways, you're missing a point. I'm not whining about anything, my life is fine, I make enough money to keep myself busy, and I'm graduating from college in a few years in hopes that maybe some day I can get a better job doing something else. The point is that I'm angry about what I see the clear injustices of our society.
  12. As long as we keep schmucks like Kim Jon Il who may very well be unbalanced mentally, from having Nukes, we'll be fine. Even crazies like the Iranians, who shouldn't have them either, aren't stupid enough to actually use them

    Old Monday Night Raw Tapes

I know I've seen some tape traders that claim to have all of them, but a lot of that could be BS. I'm sure if you dealt with a few different people you could get what you wanted, but finding tapes is getting harder and harder, because everyone is so afraid of lawsuits from WWE.
  14. Do you think it would be conceivable that WWE could slowly start to shift back to the 80's and 90's model where Television is used to build up the mid-card guys as legitimate threats, while limiting encounters between Name Wrestlers to House Shows and PPVs that the fans have to pay to see? Certainly you could make the argument for both sides. Sure, more Jobber Squashes would mean a deacrease in quality of Television, and possibly lower ratings, but it would also in theory increase House Show Revenue and PPV buys so the fans can see the Main Eventers that don't wrestle on TV that often. It would also help establish and legitimize the mid-card guys more, as they wouldn't nescessarily lose on a weekly basis. On the other hand, it would probobly not work because monthly PPVs dictate instant feuds that have to be built up almost immediately. Was phasing out Jobber Squashes in the late-90's a pandoras box will can never be closed?

    Scroby's 1st TSM Work Related Rant/Problem

The key to working retail is to stick it out and outlast everyone around you, and eventually you will be on top. I've been working at the same movie theater for 4 years now. The first 3 years were pretty shitty, the pay was acceptable, but I only got about 20-25 hours a week. Last march, the theater I worked for was aquired by a much larger corporation, and in less then a year, I went from a low string supervisor, to most senior assistant manager, since everyone else above me quit or moved on, so I guess it's just a lot of luck.
  16. Undertaker is actually a weird example of someone who has improved with age. He's still a terrible worker who has never been able to grasp the concept of selling moves, but he's been leaps and bounds better from 1998-now then he was 1990-1997, where he would consistantly be involved in the worst match on any given show.
  17. A wrestler can very easily overcome a bad gimmick if they have the charisma and in ring skills to do so. For every Nailz and Akeem that go no where, there's at least as many guys like Triple H and Mankind that were able to overcome their shit gimmicks and get over with the fans. Hell, look at guys like Finlay and Boogeyman today. There's no reason on the planet why a drunken Irish Stereotype or a Modern Day Papa Shango should be over with the crowd, but I'll be damned if they aren't getting loud pops every week.
  18. No, they just didn't want to see Bob Holly, Val Venis, Tyson Tomko, and Gene Snitsky in squash matches. No one watched Heat and Velocity not because it was nothing but squash matches, but becasue WWE programmed it's viewers to understand that none of these wrestlers matter at all, so you don't have to watch becasue nothing interesting is ever going to happen.
  19. Obviously if you were to scale back to more squashes, you'd ahve to change the format for TV tapings too. No one watches Heat or Velocity, mostly because they only ever feature jobbers, and they're only on the Internet. Jobber squashes would help legitimize the mid-card wrestlers becasue they wouldn't constantly have to job for one another on free TV due to the constraints of having PPV calibur matches every week.

    The Super pre-SNME Thread

Seriously, what current storylines? So far, the Vince vs HBK storyline is "Vince is mad at Shawn for something". HHH vs Cena is "HHH is like, really awesome, and Cena really sucks but he has the belt", Orton vs Angle vs Rey is "EDDIE! EDDIE! EDDIE!". Only storylines I know of that are even remotely interesting is the Trish/Mickie one. Well, I didn't say they were GOOD storylines, they are just storylines. On that note, am I the only one who doesn't give a shit at all about the Trish / Mickey storyline? Neither one are very good actors, and the story really isn't going anywhere, and is only going to lead to more bad womens matches.

    The Super pre-SNME Thread

Eh, it'll be good for what it is, an attempt to showcase current WWE storylines and wrestlers to try and hook casual viewers or former fans who haven't watched in a long time.
  22. The Bashams I can almost guarantee will be on the chopping block after Wrestlemania. Rob Conway is also likely, with Eugene being the least likely, but still probable.
  23. I try not to toss too much money into the lottery pit as I have somewhat of an addictive nature, so I'd easily end up going broke, but I always toss at least 5 dollars in when the pot is big enough like it is this weekend. I couldn't even begin to fathom winning that much money from any aspect. You'd probobly have to move out of the country, for a while at least, to avoid the inevitable onslaught of charities, freeloading friends / reletives / strangers, and criminals that you would be bombarded with. I'd probobly give a pretty give a pretty decent sum away to my closest friends and reletives and donate a couple million to some charity. After that I'd just buy the biggest fucking house imaginable and retire. Anyone have anything more specific / intereesting they'd like to do?

    Box Office Report 2/24-26

Yeah, the theater I manage is pretty urban in the first place, so we had 2 screens of this Madea crap running, and if you didn't know any better, you would have thought the Universe was collapsing in on itself in those Auditoriums based on how dark it was, which is unusual since we usual draw more hispanics to our theater then anything. Ph well, at least we have Ultra Violet to look forward to next weekend.

    WWE Legends Book

I picked this up at the mall today while looking for something to read at work. I've only read the first 25 pages or so, but it's a fairly interesting look at the early days of Northeast Wrestling, and a great response to anyone who might fairly criticize that WWE's current version of History begins on January 23, 1984, and that anything which may have happened prior to that isn't important. It basically profiles all of the major Capitol Wreslting, WWWF, and WWF stars prior to the Hogan Era, mixing a bit of work and shoot info about the guys. It's a steal at only 14 bucks, and will probobly go unnoticed by a lot of fans.
