    Emissions Testing...

So back in January, I decided my '91 Chevy Corsica had died on me one too many times, and that it was time for something new. After a very short search, I lucked out and found a guy who was getting rid of a '94 Oldsmobile Achieva, perfect condition, 35,000 miles on it, and the guy only wants 1500 for it. The guy says there's no problems with the thing, his father used only it just to get around town, and now he no longer drives and just wants to get rid of it. So I buy the car, and have no problems with it at all. Yesterday though, I happen to get a letter from the DMV, the car needs its emissions inspection and it absolutly has to be done within the next 2 weeks or else I can't renew my registration. So I'm assuming the guy who sold it to me either A. Didn't care and knew he was going to sell the car anyways and just threw away any notices about the needed emissions inspection, or B. Did get said notices and did get the car tested for emissions, only to find out it needed a laundry list of repairs in order to pass, and just thought it wasn't worth the bother. Even more unfortunate for me, is that over the past few years, Connecticut decided to end the old practice of taking your car to the DMV inspection place whenever you have to renew your plates. They have since licensed it out to a third party who trains private mechanics on how to inspect for emissions. So I call up a few local places to try and attempt to schedule an appointment, turns out nearly everyone is booked for at least the next 3 weeks. The best hope I got was one guy who told me that he was booked, but if I brought my car in as early as possible, he might be able to test it at some point tomorrow. So now whether or not I'm going to be able to drive my car all depends on whether or not some crooked mechanic will have the time to inspect my car tomorrow, and then hope to god he doesn't conveniently find a whole list of stuff on my car that he'll tell me will need to get repaired before he can pass me. Anyone else hate the hassle of car ownership as much as I do?

    DVD Player DOWN!

If you truely don't give a shit about the piece of junk, get a screwdriver and just pry the CD tray open. Or, you can dismantle the thing and retreive the disc without damaging the Player.

    Batman DVD's at FYE

FYE is the king of the rebates, but unless the difference in price is really huge, I don't both, waiting 5 weeks to get a check for six dollars isn't worth cutting up my box. I'd just as soon go to Wal-Mart and get the same DVD for the same price I'd pay at FYE minus the rebate.

What are some great movies you've never seen?

I've honestly never seen any of the films people consider to be amongst the classics of Cinema ie: Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, The Godfather, Citizen Kane, etc. I should probobly check them out one of these days.

Last episode of Impact! to air this Friday

I don't know about anyone else, but I know my cable company doesn't get Fox Sports, so I never got ot see Impact!, and I'm under the impression that even fewer people get WGN, is this the final nail in the coffin for TNA?

The Fox Reality Channel in 2005 ?

How exactly would re-runs of America's Most Wanted work? Wouldn't that create a false impression in people that criminals that have long since been captured / escaped to a different country / died / whatever are still on the loose?

    The Evolution of Bradshaw

I've actually heard that John Hawk was a pretty good worker in his days in Global and in Texas Indies. Supposedly he had some wild brawls with Ahmed Johnson in both mens early days.

UPN moves Smackdown to Friday Night

For a show like Smackdown, a move like that is ratings death.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread

I dunno if it's true for every theater, but the twelveplex where I work is running six screens of the film, so getting tickets won't be a problem at all, even the midnight shows, we have two theaters sold out, but there's still plenty of seats available for anyone that wants to come see.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread

I saw Episode 3 in the wee hours of this morning, and it definitly lives up to the hype. The dialouge was still corny as hell, but the action and storytelling were top notch, this one is totally up there with Empire. Im sure most of you guys don't want spoilers before it opens tomorrow night, but if you guys have any questions, I'll try and answer them as best I can without spoiling anything.

    Othello

Perhaps try a local library? Which version are you looking for? The Lawrence Fishbourne version is a tad bit dry, but the Lawrence Olivier version is pure racist fun!
  16. A lot of this is stuff that has been previously released on DVD or rehashed over and over, but man this looks like it could very well rival the Flair set for best DVD set yet. I just watched that Piper vs Valentine Dog Collar match last night, and it's awesome. Hulk Hogan vs Mr. T must be the WM 1 Main Event, just misprinted.

WWE "Greatest Stars of the 80's" DVD

Yeah, the Chi Town match still has yet to be released on DVD yet. The Flair Set and the Triple H disc both have the Wrestlewar match. The only place to see the Chi Town match is WWE Jukebox or if you happen to have a copy of the original show.
  18. I have a file that's in WMV format that I ned to show to a friend who doesn't have a computer. The obvious solution is to somehow get the file to play on a DVD so he can run it in a standard DVD Player. Now I know most DVD Players won't play WMV files, so can someone tell me exactly what I can do to convert this to a format that will run, and then burn it to a DVD-R that'll run on a stand alone DVD Player?
  19. http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,16484,00.html Wow, I was a huge fan of Season 1, and thought Season 2 was largely dissapointing, but this comes as a surprise to me, why would Comedy Central can their big cash cow right before the next season?

    WrestleMania 21 DVD extras announced

I got mine for about 21 bucks at Wal-Mart today. So far I've only watched the Battle Royal, and it's really good by WWE Battle Royal standards. Akio takes a really really sick bump when he gets eliminated, and Heidenreich is hilarious through the whole thing.

Why did Undertaker leave Raw in late 2002?

I was actually at the show where Taker switched, it was a Smackdown taping at the Mohegan Sun Casino here in CT. I'm 90% sure it was simply explained as either a "Trade" or simply Smackdown stealing another star from RAW, but Undertaker inserted into Benoit vs Angle which was the finals of a one night tournament type deal to determine a #1 contender for Lesnar/

    Should Flair

Put the title on Flair? No, but I defenitly think there's money to be made having Flair turn onT riple H and having the two of them work a PPV match.
  23. Honestly, with the way WWE is raping everyone with the ticket prices, I wouldn't doubt that the price of the show will be in the 35-50 dollar range, in a further attempt to fill Vince's self fullfilling prophecy that himself and his promotion was the best, and everybody else is just second rate.
  24. From Meltzer's update today So I guess you can add Raven and Lynn to the list of guys.

    Greatest overall booking time periods

Pat Patterson was completely 100% in charge from late-1993 untill Vince got off on Steroid Charges in mid-1994. After that, the booking started to shift a bit, Vince took a more active role in creative, and started shifting over to Bill Watts, Jim Cornette, JJ Dillon, etc.
