    July WWE 24/7 Discussion

No, although that Uncensored '96 match is it's own very special kind of terrible as well. This one has 2 wrestlers starting at the very top of the triple cage. They fight for 2 minutes, then after 2 minutes a horn sounds and they have 30 seconds to exit out a trap door. At the same time, the other door opens allowing the next member from each team to enter the top cage. So if the first two guys aren't both able to make it out the trap door in time, it ends up being 2 one one and so on. Then after another 2 minutes, the doors open again, 2 more people enter, and there's another opportunity to use the trap door. Now at this point the trap door opens on the second tier, and if you can escape out the second cage into the ring, you can escape out the door in THAT cage and as well. The match ends when all five members of a team manage to escape. It was just a mess, the "action" was impossible to follow, and the rules made the match so anti-climactic, some guys like Ron Garvin literally just walk out of the cage unimpeded, it was ridiculous.

    July WWE 24/7 Discussion

Has anyone watched Great American Bash 1988 yet? Good lord, that Triple Decker Cage was without a doubt amongst the worst matches I've ever seen.
  3. Apparently Warrior is going to be Hannity and Colmes tomorrow to give his view on the situation. Everyone set your VCR's for that one.

    WWE...

If any influential journalist like O'Reilly, or Dobbs, or any of those muckrakers decided to grill WWE about this and about the massive number of deaths in Wrestling overall, and really made them answer the tough questions, which they seemed to at least briefly touch on in most of the media coverage I saw tonight, then I could see some major changes being made, but the fact is that the media is going to forget about this by tomorrow. RAW on Monday may see a reboot of most of the top storylines, but as a whole the promotion will go on like usual.
  5. Meltzer was just on FOX News. John Gibson mostly just grilled him about the potential that steroids were involved. The only new information to come out was Meltzer saying that from what the can tell the text messages that Benoit sent to Chavo were something along the lines of "Take care of the bank accounts" or "Take care of the dogs" or something like that.

Live Free Or Die Hard (Die Hard 4) trailer

To try and turn away from the Benoit story if I may I saw this tonight and I didn't really have too much of a problem with it. It's certainly not on the level of the past films in the series, but it's a good summer action flick. Things explode, people get shot, and lots of crazy action shit happens. It's certainly not Shakespeare, but it works well for what it is. The PG-13 rating wasn't THAT much of a hindrance, it's just missing some blood and some profanity, that's all. It's still a good film regardless. I give it a B
  7. I just got home from work, A friend got a call from another friend while we were at work and told me, I'm shocked. I don't really have a whole lot to add, but this is just really, really sad. The big question is, if it turns out to be some sort of Murder Suicide deal, what will WWE's response be? Will it be simply explain the circumstances of the situation from a PR perspective, and just try and downplay it from a TV perspective, or what?

    Blasts from the Past

Den-ver, The Last Di-no-saur! Rarely watched that one, but I still remember some of the theme song. The kid-themed game shows were always fun. The ones Darthtiki mentioned along with GUTS, Legends of the Hidden Temple and Nick Arcade (featuring games from the cutting-edge Neo Geo system). Funny you should mention Legends of the Hidden Temple since Nick started showing the repeats of it early in the morning around 7am I think during the week. I caught it one morning and it made me realize just how difficult it was to win some really crappy prizes. The Nickelodeon Game Shows weren't so much difficult as it always seemed like they'd try and find the densest, most incompetent children to compete on them. Nick GAS has been running reruns of these shows like Hidden Temple and Double Dare for years now, and I would venture that 90% of everyone who screws up during the obstacle parts of these shows does so not because of any type of hidden difficulty or challenge in the design, but does so because they are just complete morons who can't figure out even the simplest of tasks. I would see kids in Hidden Temple just literally wander around clueless as to what to do for nearly half of their allotted time, when the answer was not only told to them prior, but is also staring them straight in the face. The only thing that always seemed to be completely unforgiving was any obstacle on Double Dare that required digging through a pile a goop to find a flag. It never failed, people would get stuck on that every single time. I think it must have become a running joke at some point, because literally every episode would end the same, and they never did anything at all to fix it.

Teenage girl loses feet at Six Flags

These days you can get all kinds of prosthetic limbs that'll do anything for you, and no one would ever even know they weren't real if you didn't tell them otherwise. Hell, Kerry Von Eric wrestled damn near 15 years with a fake leg, and no one had a clue. I'm not saying this isn't horrifying or anything because it certainly is, but this girl is never going to have to work another day in her life let alone pay to get into Six Flags.

    Blasts from the Past

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJf6RjHfqGU Not sure if this aired everywhere in the country, or if it was just syndicated locally, but I clearly remember this show. I'm surprised the Short Circuit people didn't sue, because that robot looks identical to Johnny 5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uRQfGsybGQ Oh and of course, who could forget Johnny Arcade?

    Veg*n-ism.

Guess what, Animals suffer out in the wild too. Ever have a cat and watch it catch a mouse in the back yard and throw it up in the air over and over and "play" with the thing until it's mutilated? You think a wild cow, if such a thing were to exist (does it?) would think twice about eating you?

Wait, I thought those speed limits were just a suggestion, go figure Anyways, yeah the Drivers here are pretty bad. I'll be doing 80 in a 65 zone and people STILL try and pass me out, it drives me nuts.

WWE General Discussion for June 2007

If I was a WWE stockholder, I would be much more concerned with stuff like their questionable reporting of live gates and attendances, and the poor quality of their creative staff than whether or not Vince Mcmahon is dead.

How much do indy wrestlers actually get paid?

Justin Credible gets paid 25 dollars a night here in Connecticut to wrestle in front of 30 people

How much do indy wrestlers actually get paid?

It really all depends. The absolute no name guys who are just starting out usually don't get paid at all, it's considered part of their training, at the most if it's a show that's requires long travel, they might get a stipend of like 20 or 30 bucks for food, but even that's a rarity. I once read that Joe was getting like $2000 per shot at Ring of Honor, so that's probably the top of the ceiling for Indy Wrestlers to make. Lower tier guys in ROH probably make between 200-300 per show. "Legends" or unemployed former WWE stars that have made an established name for themselves can get between 500-1200 plus travel expenses for an appearance, but that all depends on how big of a star you were, and whether or not you've had any recent exposure. Christian Cage and Chris Jericho are at the higher end of this spectrum while say Romeo Roselli and John Toland are at the lower end.

    June WWE 24/7 Disscussion

Not sure what anyone else got new, but all I got so far was the new ECW, and Monday Night War from 2/3/97 which should have changed this week was extended until the first week in July for some reason.

    Fantastic Four 2

I ahd to build both the Surfer and Simpsons Standees. The Simpsons one sucked because it had like 800 different pieces to be assembled, and about 9000 different screws, and then I cam up short on screws in the end, so I just half assed it. The Silver Surfer standee was a trip and a half though, the cardboard background I got together in like an hour, but trying to make heads or tales out of building the support structure and then attaching the Surfer and his board drove me mad. It took like 3 of us in the end to pick that fucker up and then a fourth guy in the back to screw the bolts on, and then the bolts didn't line up, etc., so it was a real pain in my ass.

    Michael Moore's Sicko

I think everyone agrees that the system is broken, but no one seems to be able to come up with a solution to fix it. In the film, Moore profiles Canada, France, and England all three of which have a similar "Health Care Tax" program like you have mentioned. There are two fundamental differences between our countries and these however. 1. There are twice as many people in this country as there are in France, England, and Canada combined, 60 million in England and France, and 30 million in Canada. Compare that to 300 million in the United States, and you can see that such a program would have to be done on a much larger scale, and would be much more difficult, if not impossible, to manage. and 2. The United States also seems to have a unique problem in that we have a fairly large percentage of the population who for a variety of different reasons don't pay any taxes at all. White collar criminals who cheat the system and get away with it, welfare leeches with seven kids who don't work, the homeless, the elderly, illegal aliens, etc., So should the (and this is just me pulling numbers out of my ass) 75% of the people who pay taxes in this country really have to take on the burden of the other 25% who don't? Certainly the elderly and the invalid should have some kind of guarantee for health care, but why the hell should I have to pay for people who don't belong in this country to get their Prozac, or some white trash family already stealing my money to get a free babysitter so they can go down to the store to buy cigarettes and lottery tickets with their Food Stamps.

I'm almost certain that Randy Savage never did any announcing at all in WCW.

    Fantastic Four 2

Oh my god, words can't even begin to describe how terrible this film was. They took so many liberties with the story and the characters that any resemblance to the original comic books is merely coincidental. The way Silver Surfer himself is portrayed is so wrong and so awful, I couldn't even believe it, and it's really saddening because Silver Surfer is one of my all time favorites. I don't even know if I can point to any one specific thing that is most damaging in this film. The PG rating perhaps? The paper thin plot? The laughable dialog? The hammy acting? For those of you who have been clamoring to see Galactus on the big screen, don't get your hopes up, it's a fucking joke. I hated the first F4 movie, I thought it was boring, and childish, and this film is 10x worse. If I HAD to say anything good about it, it would be that the special effects are pretty cool, particularly the surfer, and that the movie is short, barely 90 minutes, so you won't have to suffer for too long. It doesn't matter what people think, or what the reviews say, this movie is going to make 250 million no matter what, but please do yourself a favor and avoid this film.

    Michael Moore's Sicko

The DVD Screener of this has been on the 'Net for a couple of days now, I just finished watching it. It stats out fairly strong, pointing out obvious flaws in our countries healthcare system, but it quickly evolves into what is essentially a propaganda vehicle for Moore's blatant socialist viewpoint. While I am certainly not qualified to speak or subjects such as the Canadian Health care System, or Government Social Programs in France, but the skeptical side of me tends to think that's it's not all lollipops and candy canes like Moore makes it out to be. He only very briefly touches on the most obvious question which is "Who pays for all this?" but he never really gives a clear answer, probably because the only correct one isn't the one he wants to give. Overall, this film is probably less polarizing them Fahrenheit or Columbine, but is equally one sided in it's viewpoint. Moore isn't going to win any new fans with this film, as he continues to preach to the choir.
  25. What I'm hopign for is a Vince McMahons funeral vignette with like appearances from everyone ever. "Holy shit, look at the eighth pew on the right side, it's Repo Man, and he's sitting in between The Mountie, and Tugboat!"
