Dangerous A

Well, Sac isn't in too awful of a place. They just won their sixth in a row and seem to have found their niche and rotation. They'll be fine. Until the playoffs. Seattle just keeps on trucking. I must say they have been the surprise, by far, of this season without the name Ron Artest and riot attached. LeBron is making a case for not just best 2 guard in the league, but possible MVP candidate. All at the tender age of 19. He is way ahead of schedule. Wade isn't too far behind and his game has stepped up big time. Carmelo has dropped off big time and hasn't shot the ball well except a handful of times.

For those of you who didn't know, nba.com quit hosting the VGM (Virtual General Manager) game, however ESPN has taken it on and has renamed it Fastbreak. It's the exact same game, except it's now hosted by espn.com and the new name. I've created a public league, so if you are interested, you'd better sign up since I think there are only 50 spots to a group. Kings almost choke away the game, but pull one out against Memphis for their fourth in a row. Again, I ask, are the Kings getting back on track after a slow start?

I think it will be bullshit if Artest is suspended longer than Jackson. Jackson was hopped up on some bad Gatorade or something that night because he wanted to fight Pistons first, when the oppurtunity arose to fight fans, he was first in line. Artest is definitely not in the total clear. I have to take the ESPN line of Artest's actions are not justified, but understandable considering he was just seconds removed from a potential fight, removed himself from that conflict only to engage in another. The crawl on ESPN News says that Ben Wallace is going to apologize personally to Artest. I am going to wait until the punishments are handed out before talking about how many games will be missed, etc. Also, to stick up for the TSM NBA guys, we don't come into MLB and NFL threads talking about how our sport is superior (hoops) is to other sports. When there is a fuckup in MLB, NFL, or whatever I don't catch TSM NBA guys talking shit. Keep that shit outside please. All sports have their good and bad representatives. There is no moral superiority in sports, especially amongst it's athletes. If you want to comment on the specific of this incident, feel free. Just don't come in here talking about how the NBA is filled with bad guys and how anyone from (insert sport here) is better. For every Ron Artest, there's an Albert Belle. For every Stephen Jackson, there's a Rae Carruth. Leave the sports elitism out of here.

I can definitely see the NBA trying to stop alcohol from being served after halftime. I just gotta say, HOLY FUCKIN SHIT! That was crazy. Points I'll make are... -Ben Wallace overreacted to the foul. I could see him step up to Artest's grill and chew him out or something, but he throat shoved him. Then when it looked like things were chilling out, he throws a towel at Artest to instigate things further. Ben should get a 3 game suspension IMO, not 2. -Artest was actually doing the right thing all the way up until he got hit with the bottle and beverage while lying on the scorers table. The foul he gave was not that big a deal, even Bill Walton admitted during the live broadcast. Artest laid out on the table to chill. Was it a dick move? Sure, but he wasn't getting physically involved. The fan who threw the drink should be banned for life from any NBA games. Although I would've reacted pretty much the same as Artest, it doesn't make it right for him to go into the stands to come after a fan. He should face a 5-7 game suspension for his part in this. I will give him a smidge of credit for AT FIRST reacting to Wallace's overreaction with a cool head. I'm banking he wouldn't have gone into the stands if he wasn't wound up from the Wallace altercation in the first place. -The players should NOT be penalized for actions against the 2 morons who stepped on the court to fight. Just like in pro wrestling, when you step out onto the court/in the ring, the players/wrestlers do not know what your intentions are and have every right to protect themselves. I'm betting that is the defense most of the Pacers will be coming up with when the league starts handing down punishments. While I agree with that in regards to the fisticuffs on the court, I do not agree with what happened in the stands. -Stephen Jackson and Jermaine O'Neal should face the bigger fines and suspensions IMO. Jackson was wound up since the foul and was looking for a fight. He did not attempt to do anything but harm other players or fans. I understand the whole sticking up for your player mentality, but what Jackson did wasn't that. Not at all. J. O'Neal should get some kind of punishment because he did physically get involved with fans, just not the one he hit with the sliding punch. That guy shoved an assistant (I believe Chuck Person) and J O'Neal was looking out for his interests. However, O'Neal had the chance to leave earlier and just made matters worse around the entrance way. Jackson should get a minimum 10 game or more suspension and O'Neal should get about what Artest should get, 5-7. This was just unreal. There were some pretty good games on tonight and this just overshadowed it. I get the feeling ESPN will rerun this incident more than the TO/Nicollette Sheridan MNF thing, which IMO, is a good thing. To add to NBA brawls, I remember seeing a pretty good brawl sometime in '93 with the Knicks and Suns where Greg Anthony, who was on the IL with a bum ankle, came off the bench and was fighting with various Suns players. It was chaotic. No wonder he was defending the players so much tonight

Although a win vs. the Bulls shouldn't mean too much to me, the Kings look to be getting back on track with their 3rd win in a row. Hey, any team opening with the Texas Triangle on their schedule would be lucky to pull off a single win, much less 2 or 3. Is it just me, or does there seem to be... A) more scoring and B) parity in the league?

Do you have an older model Tivo? I just got a Tivo in August and it lets me either watch whatever I want while recording one thing or will record 2 things at once, but then I have to leave the TV on the one of the channels that the Tivo is recording. I can speak for Tivo in that it has helped me watch programs faster because you can fast forward commercials and what not. Also helps watching WWE faster since the shows have sucked pretty bad lately and I can just skip past parts that I know are gonna suck. Season pass is cool too because I dont miss any shows that I don't want to miss.

League pass right now costs $169.00 for the entire season. They usually offer a lower price at the half season point for like $30.00 or $40.00, but IMO it's worth more to get it at the start of the season. You get every game unless there are blackout restrictions regarding a local team. If you are getting Bulls games, then you won't get them on league pass because you already have access to them from your local affiliate.

I just got back from this game (since I live a 2 minute transit ride from the Oakland Arena) and I must agree that although Livingston's stats might not indicate it, he is going to be pretty damn good in a couple of years. Hoops is natural for him. Wilcox is becoming a prescence down low and Maggette and Simmons were excellent from the perimeter. I think the Clips are pretty fun to watch. On the flip side of this game, the Warriors are just woeful. Their offense is atrocious. I think it's a combo of new guys getting used to playing with one another, but the biggest factor is getting used to a college coach in Mike Montgomery. Looking at the rest of GS's schedule, this team could easily go 0-8 before getting their first win this season.

Well, I guess some time away from the Office gives you some perspective. Perspective the Dems should look into right now if they hope to ever see the inside of the White House again.

Actually, "Holla if ya hear me" is from Pac's second album, Strictly for my Niggaz. I am an old school Tupac fan more so than his newer Death Row stuff. Favs of mine Brenda's got a Baby If my Homie's Call Holler if ya Hear me Papa's Song I Get Around Something Wicked this way Comes Me Against the World Dear Mama His first Death Row album as a whole was alright, but I am a bigger mark for the older material. The Makeveli album is overrated IMO. I think Suge and Co. rushed the production of it to capatalize on Pac's death more so than make a good album. There's only 2 songs on that album worth a damn anyways. (Bonnie and Clyde, Hail Mary)
