I have the NBA League Pass and let me tell you, if you like NBA hoops, it's fucking awesome. Since I get to sample quite a bit of game action, I must say that the games this season, for the most part, have been a lot more uptempo than previous years. Just my $.02

I'm digging the developing rivalry between the T-Wolves and Nuggets. I think it could be even more explosive this year because of K-Mart joining the fray. Add on a disgruntled Sprewell and we've got the Hatfields and McCoys out there on the hardwood.

I have to say that I agree with Magic Johnson's assessment that the Suns are the new Kings. Lots of offense and very explosive. I can see this team taking a playoff spot from either the Nuggets, Rockets, or Kings if any of those 3 teams start slipping. Nuggets look horrible on offense the last 2 games. Carmelo is just jacking up shots with no rythym and no ball movement. K-Mart has looked less than impressive as well. It's only game 2 in the season, but I'll just say if this team gets off to a rocky start, Bzdelik is history before the new year.

Last night notables... Orlando has some good talent. They may end up on the better end of the McGrady/Francis-Mobley-Cato deal. Howard was solid and because of Stevie and Hill (provided he plays at least 60 games) Howard can develop on his own without the pressure to produce right now. The Jazz looked really good. They caught the Lakers on the second of a back to back night on the road too, but still. They have some very good players and depth and Arroyo didn't even play last night. I like that team. The Lakers won't be as bad as last night, but I can see a lot more nights like that this season. Kobe had 38 points last night while the rest of his team produced 40. Not good. The Lakers are still ailing with Divac, George, and Slava out, so you are really not seeing the whole team, but even when those guys come back, they don't scare anyone. Their biggest problem will be, as shown last night, they are going to get killed in the paint on both ends because they have no intimidators. Kings are in big fucking trouble and might want to start thinking about shopping the unhappy Peja or someone for something because they need a shakeup very badly. They made a huge mistake by signing Webber to a max contract, but then again, this was before the huge knee injury. Now he is getting killed on the defensive end. Nowitzki and Duncan have looked like gods against Webber. Speaking of bad contracts, the Warriors put up a measly 75 points last night with their two new signees, J-Rich and Troy Murphy at the helm. Murphy did well last night, but Richardson was 4-18 from the field last night and couldn't hit a perimeter shot to save his life. He was not worth the big contract they gave him and will prove he is just a highlight reel who can't win. Think Dominique Wilkins 2K4.

Bottom line is if you don't like either Dem or Rep candidate, there is no shame in not voting for one of them. If you are of the line of thinking "anyone but Bush" then Kerry would be your vote. If you liked what you saw of Dubya the last 4 years and want more of it, then vote Bush. But if you don't like what you see out of either man, fuck em both and write in who you think would make a good president or look into the Liberterian, Green, or Independent party's candidates to see if you are more in tune to what they are all about. Then cast your vote. Educate yourself and then make a decision. Read both sides of issues and see where you stand on them. This isn't rocket science. At the end of the day, I just don't feel good about either candidate, which is why neither Kerry or Bush get my vote. I don't believe in the picking of lesser evils mentality when it comes to elections. I'm not saying that I need to agree with every single issue that these candidates are all about, but I need to at least feel good about what direction the candidate will take the country in. Bush has royally fucked the Iraq thing up so much IMO that he doesn't get my vote. Kerry doesn't inspire me at all and still has yet to really come out and say what he's all about. He's basically milking this "I'm better than Bush" card then trying to state to me what he wants to do about anything. IMO, Kerry is the lesser of the two evils, but not by much and not enough to get DA's vote. I'd love to vote for the Liberterian party candidate since that is where I lean politically, but I admit I really don't know enough about Michael Badnarik to vote for the guy yet. I'm considering not voting for the president and instead, focus on voting for things that impact me more directly like local measures and propositions.

You know how you've been hearing the whole "let your vote be your voice" spiel now for what seems like the last decade, well, do just that. BigSwigg was onto something in that if you don't believe in either candidate (like I do) then don't vote for them. Vote for someone else then. Sure, your candidate isn't going to win because of rampant bi-partisanship, but at least you can say, "hey, I didn't put that Fucker/Bush/Kerry in office, I voted for someone else". and feel ok about it. I don't plan on voting for either Bush or Kerry. Neither do anything for me. Still not sure who I'll vote for. Is Lil Jon 35? If so, he gets my vote. If the 2 major parties are gonna put jokes out for candidates, I figure I'll throw out a joke vote.

Actually Bob, I'll tell let you now, straight up, that Jimmy Fallon was a better SNL performer than Horatio Sanz. Much better. Fallon is still pure shit IMO, but he was better than Sanz which makes me wonder, what does that make Sanz? And yes, Amy Poehler has NO business doing WU and they most definitely dropped the ball going away from Seth Meyers and going with Sanz in regards to any Sox/Yanks bits. Just horrible.

Thanks for the correction. I am watching the San Francisco feed you just mentioned. Just assumed everyone on the West Coast was getting the edited version.

She sang "Pieces of Me", just not live on SNL. That is where she gets flack on this board. In general, this is probrably a dead issue. If for some reason the media takes this and runs with it, she'll probrably play the self deprecating humor card and make fun of it when the second season of her show starts back up on MTV (if there is a second season) or they'll have her make fun of it during some commercials she shoots. Either way, her singing and music still suck ass, recorded or live.
-
A question I have is were they her regular band that she tours with or were they some token SNL band people who can play anything?
-
While the Orlando Magic are getting press for Grant Hill making his umpteenth return and the injection of Steve Francis and Cutino Mobley, Dwight Howard may end up getting his due. He has performed nicely in preseason and I was impressed that he looked to have added bulk this summer. He looks to be around 240 ibs or so. Howard may end up proving the Magic right for taking him No. 1 in the draft.
-
Yes, check out the links in this folder because the West Coast feed has been edited.

Fallon wasn't bad to me at first. His songs, while I don't like them nearly as much as anyone in the world, are at least original. I'll give him that. It's just that when he would break character from skits and not recover, as a former onstage performer, it irks me when that happens. Regardless, Ashlee is trash more for her unprofessionalism with walking off the stage and then hanging the band out to dry at the end of the show. The lip synching is whipped cream on the sundae.
-
Ok Bob, List of horrible things on SNL 1) Sinead O'Conner rips up picture of pope 2)Ashlee Simpson lip synchs, then rolls her band out to dry 3) Jimmy Fallon-90% of what he has ever done on the show. There. By the way, I just saw the West Coast feed and they edited out her opening lines of "Pieces of Me" and just showed her do her goofy dance.
-
This is about as sickening as Jimmy Fallon. Well, not quite as sickening, but it's right fucking behind it. I'm on Pacific time and am waiting for the fuckup. Thanks to those who posted links to the original airing. Fucking hilarious shit!

What radio stations do you like to listen to?
Dangerous A replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in General Chat
I only listen to talk radio. As far as music, I buy CD's, I don't listen to the radio in regards to FM stations. The most FM I listen to occasionally will be KMEL 106.1 in the Bay Area. I can't find a decent rock station in the Bay Area. (any help with that would be great) Other than that, it's all AM on my dials with.. 1050/680 (Sports talk radio, both work in connection with each other to do the national sports talk shows like Jim Rome and Tony Bruno and also do 49ers, Giants, and Golden State Warriors games) 910 (Conservative talk radio) 810 (Liberal/middle of the road talk radio) 560 (Conservative talk radio and the Home of the Oakland Raiders and yes, that is an odd couple) -
Since Carmelo decided to get cited with hippie lettuce aka marijuana, I'm banking on at least a 2 game suspension to open his season. That means he's out of my first Fastbreak lineup. Here is the new lineup (thank God this info came out early) PG Mike Bibby SG Kobe Bryant SF Peja Stojakovic PF Rasheed Wallace C Brad Miller Coach Denver It's a little King's heavy, but they are playing the defensive genius's known as the Mavs, so I'm not too worried. Sucks because I had my team down pat to a cost of 99.0, but this lineup is even closer at 99.5 BTW, is anybody gonna sign up for the Rookie's game? If not, I'm fixing to dismantle the group and join up somewhere else.

Just to add... I have signed up for nba.com's Rookie's fantasy game. It's just like VGM/Fastbreak, but it's easier because you only pick one rookie a day to play and you can pick up to a week in advance. Thing is, you can only pick the same rookie once a week. Here is the link.. http://www.nba.com/fantasy_games/rookies2004/login.jsp The group is the same name as the VGM/Fastbreak game:TSMWDI playas. I played this game last year and it was pretty fun. It should really be challenging this year because there is no clear cut studs like LeBron, Carmelo, and Wade. However I think this year's rookie class will have some folks step up and be productive.

I feel bad for the NLCS. As much as this series deserves coverage, the Cards/Astros series is just as good and don't deserve this kind of shaft. I just wish they would alternate playing days so America gets to see both series.

Fixed, I meant Rivera.
