In the report, an unnamed baseball official familiar with the situation says the Diamondbacks have asked the Yankees whether Posada would be available in a possible deal for the left-handed ace. The Yankees reportedly weren't thrilled with the idea of including Posada in a possible trade. Interestingly, the Yankees' lack of quality minor-league prospects has been a major conversation topic in New York. Radio talk-show hosts, among others, have wondered aloud about whom the Bombers could deal for Johnson while keeping the current major-league team together. However, with starting pitchers Kevin Brown and Mike Mussina on the disabled list, the Yankees are aggressively pursuing a quality starting pitcher. So don't rule out the possibility of New York landing Ramon Ortiz from Anaheim, then promptly shipping him to Arizona in a possible three-way deal for Johnson. But the Ledger points out Posada's contract could make him eligible for a trade. Why? As one of three Yankees without a no-trade clause in his contract, Posada can opt out of his contract after this season. Posada is earning $9 million this season, and if he stays he will make $12 million next year, $13.5 million in 2006 with a team option for 2007 or a buyout of $4 million. I'm not sure how anyone feels about this silly rumor.

True, the timing of this story coming out RIGHT NOW with the 9/11 report coming out tommorrow is very peculiar. I really don't like how it has been politicized. I am more concerned with the breach of security part of it. I will also conceed that this type of "sloppiness" has occurred with others and to that I say it is far from ok. This all bothers me.

Fuck what the right says is on the document. I want consequences for this blatant breach of National Security. Even if it doesn't lead to something bad happening, it sets a dangerous precedent that protocol can be broken in the name of "sloppiness" because if and when the right pull off the same stunt, the same excuse will be used and it will be ok. Sure you could make Book or RVD champs, but don't expect them to draw. You can put the belts on them, but they won't turn business around. IMO, their reps have already been damaged beyond repair to put a top belt on either one of them and expect it to do any sort of business. This statement is correct. He's a backup and he knows it. The starting frontcourt will be PF Webber, SF Peja, and C Brad Miller. Ostertag averaged 3 fewer points than Divac and 5 fewer assists. Ostertag averaged 2 more boards and a full block more than Divac. If we were doing "Best Week Ever", this would be a downgrade. However, as someone else already pointed out, Miller and Webber are skilled enough passers that they will run the offense through them. Ostertag is a different look defensively because while Divac relied on acting, flops, and finesse to defend, Ostertag is a legit space taker that blocks shots better and isn't afraid to knock someone on their ass. Divac will be most missed in the lockerroom where he provided leadership. This is where I would like a guy like Mike Bibby to step up and become the vocal leader of the Kings. He should also be more aggressive on the court to become the floor leader as well. Well now is his chance. If Bibby can step up more in a leadership role, I think the Kings should be fine. Divac leaving also strands his buddy Peja a bit, but I think he needs to step away from his mentor and finally stand alone. The Backup Center void has been filled. Now I'd like to see a backup SF picked up here very soon.
