    HBK is a little unhappy

This speed argument is dumb. Amazing Red, who is one of the speediest and quickest guys out there, works retarded quite a bit. The word spot-fu is synonomous with him. I would take HBK's body of work over Red's any day. However, I'd take a guy like Stan Hansen's work over HBK's even though there has never been a day where Hanses was faster or quicker than HBK. Hansen's work was just better to me than HBK's. Speed is overrated in terms of how good a wrestler is or not.

    OAO Raw thread - 09/12/05

edited for quality It's sad there is a ppv this coming sunday and Cena v Angle is the only thing that is remotely built up well and that's only because Angle has been booked strong the last month. Edge v Hardy could be decent, but it's been killed dead with Hardy's constant jobbing. Hardy is obviously being taught a lesson. Snitsky v Big Show. I don't have to say much. Carlito v Flair. Ugh. Even Carlito's charisma is starting to fade fast since he's been moved to the Raw roster. Masters v HBK. Gimme a break. Texas Rednecks 2K5 v Hurricane and Rosey. In ring may not be bad, too bad WWE could give two shits about the tag titles. If they don't care about the tag belts, why should you or I? Kerwin v Shelton. I'm definitely not feeling watching Shelton job to this joke of a gimmick, I don't care how much Shelton doesn't connect with the crowd. Did Shelton piss in Vince or HHH's cornflakes or something? Definitely not worth $34.95. Save your money. As for tonight's show, I'll be watching it Tivo'd tommorrow or something. MNF has Eagles v Falcons. Eagles v Falcons >>>>>> Tonight's Raw

    Another Tough Enough Winner Released

Nitro and MNM as a group are damn near dead as an act. LOD 3000 (and inept booking) has taken care of that.

    NFL General Hospital

Not as major as the first two injuries, but Patrick Ramsey is questionable to practice with a sprained neck from the clothesline given to him by a Bears LB. (name escapes me right now) After the replay, intentional or not, that should have been a 15 yard penalty. Stan Hansen and JBL couldn't have executed a better lariat than that guy and it should have been called. I wonder if Ramsey fucked the lead NFL officials daughter or something as he gets the least respect of any QB I've seen in awhile. I remember a season or two ago, Roy Williams fucking german suplexed Ramsey for a sack in full view of the officials and nothing was called. Last I checked, you are not allowed to pick a person up and slam them to the ground, much less pick him up by the waist and head drop him.

Eh, I don't think it looks too preachy. Then again, it's just a trailer. Even if it is anti-war, who cares? I'd be more concerned with the November 2005 release. That's the launch of the holiday run of movies and this could get lost in the shuffle, especially if it has a downer feeling about it. Thing is, if they release it post Xmas, then it runs the risk of not making back much money, but as I stated earlier, it could get lost in the holiday movie shuffle and may not find an audience of people who want to see a movie about war during the holidays.

NBA Charity Game September 11th in Houston

Looks like Shaq was doing more than just sitting around in Miami... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2157772 O'Neal takes action after visit to LouisianaAssociated Press MIAMI -- Sweat dripping from his head as he worked in the midday South Florida sun, Shaquille O'Neal loaded the last item into a cavernous 18-wheel trailer and pointed to the generous stranger. Shaquille O'Neal loaded tractor trailers with donations on Saturday. "Give the man a hug," he urged his children, who quickly obliged. "Tell him thank you." For the last week, O'Neal and his wife have coordinated efforts to help those in Louisiana and Mississippi whose lives were ripped apart by Hurricane Katrina. And Saturday, O'Neal was on the front line, personally accepting medical items, toiletries, clothes and other items from those inclined to help. The tractor-trailers hired by the O'Neal family are expected to begin rolling Tuesday toward Baton Rouge, La. -- where O'Neal, the Miami Heat center, attended LSU. "I commend everybody who's helping out in some way," O'Neal said. "Whether it's monetarily or going to the stores and buying cases of water, bundles of ice ... there's a lot of people chipping in, and my hat goes off to every American and non-American that's helping." O'Neal spent two days in Louisiana shortly after the storm struck, returning home deeply moved by what he saw. And donating money, he said, simply wouldn't be enough. So for several days, he and his wife Shaunie have teamed with the El Dorado furniture stores in South Florida and urged people to give whatever was possible. The response, Shaunie O'Neal said, has been overwhelming. A warehouse commandeered to store the donations is nearly filled to capacity. There's 10,000 gallons of water, piles of diapers, peroxide, personal items and clothing, plus even some donations of refrigerators and beds -- which will be used to help furnish 400 apartments the O'Neals' plan to rent for refugees in Dallas and other areas. "The refrigerators and beds weren't expected," Shaunie O'Neal said. "But they definitely can be used. They'll definitely come in handy." The O'Neals are unclear what will exactly happen once the trucks leave South Florida. They're finding that the process of distributing items throughout the ravaged region is perhaps the most difficult part of the plan. Shaunie O'Neal said she's been told that the trucks, when they arrive in Louisiana, will be emptied for inspection and the items will be sent to various locations -- depending on what is needed where, and logistics in place for the distribution. She fears it could be a lengthy process. "It's just frustrating," Shaunie O'Neal said. "All you're trying to do is help and get help to people in need and you see these people on TV just begging for help and whoever, I'm not going to point any fingers, but ... it's very, very, very difficult." While the 12-time All-Star was manning the dropoff location, Edesio Biffoni, a Swiss man who works in finance and now lives in the Miami suburb of Coconut Grove, came with his sports-utility vehicle loaded with car seats, baby strollers, clothing, toys and other items. Other citizens -- all unknowing they were about to meet O'Neal -- brought cases of soap and deodorant, plus toothbrushes, toothpaste, baby wipes and numerous other items. "Everybody should be helping out. ... There's people who need these things more now," Biffoni said, moments after O'Neal gave the man a firm handshake and whispered appreciative words. O'Neal said the damage he saw during his visit to Louisiana was unimaginable. So he returned home "to devise a plan," he said, and urged his friends and corporations he works with to provide immediate help. "I'm just doing what I've been taught by my parents to do," O'Neal said. "This is the right thing to do, and I'm trying to urge other people to do it."

    Observer Note

In the lead Observer story, it says Foley called Vince to tell him he was going to sign with TNA and that Vince was upset. Not mad upset so much as disappointed because he felt WWE was Foley's "home" and such. After several conversations, Vince convinced Foley to stay with WWE. Foley was working on trying to get a new deal since June, but things were stalled because Foley wanted more creative freedom (and I would too, I'd hate to be booked by the current creative team of nimrods) and wanted freedom to pursue things outside of WWE. At first they wouldn't give in, then TNA made an offer with the freedom that Foley wanted, then Vince gave in. It says Foley's intentions were not to play both sides against each other for more money. Spike feels that's not the case and from their end, I could see why they think that. I'm not saying he was out for the buck myself because Mick is pretty honest and I could see him being real conflicted on this, but I can see Spike's side.

    Observer Note

To add, after a convo with Terry Taylor, Sean Waltman has given TNA a verbal committment and plans on signing a contract, so now there are plans to book him past the PPV. Money wasn't the issue so much as a few clauses in the contract. While that's fine, I'd be a little cautious with this news because Foley had done the same thing a week ago and Vince sweet talked him back into a WWE deal. Foley said he was not playing both sides against each other for the best deal, but Spike TV and Co. felt otherwise.

    HBK is a little unhappy

Masters isn't even as good as most of the Natural Born Thrillers. Hell, even Reno and Mike Sanders are better than Masters and I think Palumbo and O'Haire are very much better than Masters when they debuted. I think Jindrak is about level with Masters, and even then, Jindrak is way more athletic where Masters is just a body builder so Jindrak had potential to be better down the line.
  12. From Meltz's site.. Well, if they can eventually be on air OVW regulars and with Heyman booking, I see good things for Nigel and Punk. Makes me glad I started getting OVW tapes. (credit to Zack Malibu for getting me into OVW)

Aries v Strong is the free match I think. Still, if TNA could bring in Gen Next as a heel X Division faction, that would 0wn all of my face.

NBA Charity Game September 11th in Houston

Shaq could still play. Or maybe he just doesn't want to risk getting hurt or perhaps he is still recovering from nagging injuries. Shaq and his wife have been down in LA and have been mobilizing truckloads of supplies to people still not evacuated from the hard hit areas. Shaq is doing his part. Again, we don't know why he is or isn't playing. I'm pretty sure something will come out soon or he'll be a late addition. Again, it does say Participants subject to change.

    Help me with TNA matches...

That was my bad for wording it wrong. HTQ had it correct in that Joe is more against a long, dramatic, 30 second fight for the ropes. It's more like if he gets the choke and it's not the finish, Joe probrably prefers like a frantic less than 5 second dash for the ropes. If he's got the hold on for 5 seconds or longer, it should be the finish.

It's on Meltz's site as well. The best part of the blurb is... We're either going to see something decent or unintentional comedy of the WrestleCrap variety coming from this.

    Best Austin/Rock Wrestlemania Match?

From a match story point of view, it doesn't get much better than X7. Austin is already insecure from losing the 2 out of 3 falls match to HHH after being up 1 fall to none at the previous month's ppv. That isn't what's supposed to happen. He's supposed to come into WM strong. He also needs validation to himself that he can come back from serious neck surgery and again be top guy. Who's on top at the time? Rock. Austin's beat Rock before. However, the loss from the previous month coupled with a great dueling promo bit a week or two out where Austin states he NEEDS to win the title. Problem for him is, Rock isn't the same Rock from 1999. He's better. Which is why it isn't a surprise that Austin attacks Rock before the bell even rings. Odd behavior for a babyface. He bloodies Rock. Rock gives it all back. Things are evening up in a great brawl. You start to see Austin pulling things out from matches past and such to try to put Rock away. Stunner. Doesn't work. A second stunner, it worked in WMXV. Not this time. Austin tries to finish Rock with his own Rock Bottom. Still not good enough. Austin starts to even go back to old tricks like the Millon Dollar Dream and almost suffers defeat with it just like Survivor Series 96. Austin's facial expressions during this time of trying to finish off Rock are incredible. It's similar to Ultimate Warrior staring at his hands when he couldn't finish off Savage at WM7. Austin goes to the final plan. Vince McMahon. The man he has hated for years. His greatest nemesis. Vince is the Ace up Austin's sleeve and Austin HAS to use it to put Rock away. Austin doesn't use any wrestling move or finisher to put Rock away. He uses pure barbarism with a chair to do it. Austin pretty much is gone in terms of this as a wrestling match and basically uses an assault with a weapon to get the job done. Even if he has to align himself with Vince to do it, Austin had to win this match or else him coming back would mean nothing. I didn't have as much of an issue with the chair and McMahon interference finish as others did because it fit within the story they were telling very nicely. That is why it's their best match. The other 2 matches can't even begin to scratch the surface of that kind of storytelling.

S D, you should post a source. Just saying. If this is true, well, I'm glad someone spoke the truth to the divas. Their match sucked. Hard. If Vince and the other road agents said the match was ok, then I'm still under the belief that Vince just surrounds himself with yes-men and if someone steps outside of their yes-men role, they end up like Mr. Fischmann. If this story is indeed true.

    Jushin Liger

Yes UTSU, he got way better since his very lame WCW run. He is a smarter worker and paces himself way better. He was just getting out of Young Lion status when he came to WCW. He understands things like fire and selling. He really took off after he won G-1 in 2001 and he's been one of the better IWGP champions in the last 5 years, although they screwed up by having him fight in shoots and getting killed, which hurt his drawing power immensely.

Both Mistico and Homicide are welcome additions, especially Mistico. Even if Mistico isn't available on a full time basis, he's worth it. Trust me on this. He's the best high flying wrestler in the world right now, bar none. Can't really say much more about Homicide that hasn't already been said.

    Jushin Liger

Liger can still go, just not as a flyer. He works a bit smarter and paces himself better. Spot fans won't like him much now, but he has credibility, he's still got a unique look, and he'll get over just fine. The one thing they better not change is his theme music.

    NBA Offseason Stuff

Cleveland should be able to now get over that playoff hump. They now have outside shooters (Marshall, Jones), a decent center (Ilgauskus), and 2 guys who can go one on one to break down defenses (James, Hughes). Question I have: Can and will they play any defense?
