I played the N64 titles extensively, and played Smackdown a few times on PS1 (didn't care for it at all). I ended up picking 2007 after a few recommendations on this board, and I thought it was pretty fun. Specifically, I thought using the right stick to do grapple moves was really well done. Why specifically do you think the gameplay is atrocious J.B.? Just curious, since I haven't played HCTP etc. This game might also be worth picking up for Benoit, since he'll never be in another game again.

Sorry for the total newbie question, but does this play exactly like Madden? I picked up Madden last year (after several years of 2k) and I didn't care for the gameplay at all. Plus the player progression was just silly.

In hilarious small-market news, the Oilers have signed RFA Tomas Vanek to a seven-year, $50 million offer sheet. In his first year, he'd get a total of $10 million. It's kind of interesting that a so-called small market team like Edmonton is trying to poach another small market team. Poor Buffalo.

Supposedly the Oilers went after a few of the bigger names (Kariya) but were shot down. Poor Edmonton. Must be really annoying, especially since Calgary is a few hours away yet signs all sorts of big-name players and has no problem re-signing their franchise player.

The Oil are hilarious. First they trade their captain for nothing, then Ryan Smyth signs with division rival Colorado, then they lose out for a second tier free agent. Too funny.

The Broncos? The team with Champ Bailey and Dre Bly at corner, the same Dre Bly who knows a ton about the Martz offense and Detroit's personnel? The Broncos are going to destroy the Lions. I know, it's early and things can change between now and then. It should actually be a really fun game, seeing Martz try and gameplan around Bly and Bailey. But I still think that's a huge longshot for a Lions.
