Tampa has Jeff Garcia too, and the rights to Jake Plummer. Carr doesn't make any sense there. Besides Green Bay and KC, I think Carr could work in Cleveland. Charlie Frye sucks, and they have no depth at all behind him (Derek Anderson might have been the worst QB to start last year). If they choose not to draft Russell or Quinn then Cleveland is a pretty good spot for Carr. The Falcons picking up Adrian Peterson at #8 would be the end of the road for Warrick Dunn, which is too bad...he seemed like a solid character guy. With the 8th pick and Houston's second rounder, Atlanta could easily move up to pick 4, and grab Joe Thomas or Calvin Johnson if either drops. If Johnson, Thomas, and Peterson are all off the board at 8, they should still be able to take a stud end like Gaines Adams to replace Patrick Kerney or grab some secondary help with Laron Landry. Nice move they've made, provides for a ton of draft-day flexibility.

That was *hilarious*. Great find.

They probably don't have the cap space for Briggs.

If Favre is really going to retire at the end of next season, then picking up Carr now makes a lot of sense. I also thought he was put in a really bad situation with Houston and could succeed in a different setting. I just figured that Favre might stick around again if the team does really well but doesn't win a Super Bowl next year. Say the Packers lose in the NFC Championship game, does Favre really walk away? If he sticks around for another season or two beyond this year, then trading a pick for Carr is a bad move. I thought Bubba Franks really, really lost a step last year. But if they using him primarily as a blocking TE, he might be ok. Good point. Dillon supposedly wants to be a feature back, and that wasn't going to happen in New England with Maroney there. I personally think Bush or Irons could easily be young stud RBs. I think your backfield of Lynch/Morency/Herron would have issues early in the season, while Lynch is getting used to the speed of the NFL and learning blocking schemes and such. Lynch would not work on 3rd down, as he'd be a liability blocking and isn't much of a receiver out of the backfield. Morency is a young player too, and I'm not sure what kind of 3rd down back he'd be...what do you think? The idea with Dillon is that he could be in the game in whatever situation, and whatever young RB you have can spell him and be brought along slowly. Safety seems like a good idea. I think you guys had Seahawks castoff Marquand Manuel starting, which isn't really ideal. Thanks for the info above though...there's quite a bit I don't know about the Packers, and it's nice to read a bit more about them and their situation.

I'm not sure if David Carr is the right fit for Green Bay. Maybe if Favre retires next March, but if the Packers have a great season and a strong offense why would he leave? There's no point acquiring Carr and having him rot on the bench behind Favre for two years. I don't think they need to spend a first round pick on Marshawn Lynch, and Adrian Peterson should be long gone by pick 16. I think the Pack should sign Corey Dillon, and then draft a guy like Michael Bush or Kenny Irons in round 3 or 4. Favre, Dillon/Bush committee, Moss/Driver/Jennings, and maybe drafting a guy like TE Greg Olsen with their 1st round pick...add all of that to a young and improving O-Line, and the Packers could be a powerhouse.

The guy wants his 20$ million dollar payday. It makes sense, if an old worn-out Patrick Kerney can rake in 19.5$ million guaranteed, Briggs should land at least 20. The Bears should just trade the guy to the Redskins for a 2008 first round pick or something. The Redskins have been making cap room for Dre Bly, a guy that Denver doesn't appear to be willing to part with...may as well use that room on Briggs.

Because the #1 overall pick is worth way, way, way more than Randy Moss. Remember the Giants-Chargers trade from a few years back? The Giants gave up a lot to move up only 3 spots to #1. Giants received * Rights to 2004 1st Overall Pick - Used to sign quarterback Eli Manning. Chargers received * Rights to 2004 4th Overall Pick - Used to sign Quarterback Philip Rivers. * 2005 1st Round Draft Pick - Used to draft and sign Linebacker Shawne Merriman. * 2004 3rd Round Draft Pick - Used to draft and sign Kicker Nate Kaeding. * 2005 5th Round Draft Pick - Traded to Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Left Tackle Roman Oben. The Packers would have to give up something ridiculous to move up to #1. According to the old trade value chart from pft, the Packers #16th overall pick is worth 1000 points, while #1 overall is worth 3000. The Pack would have to trade their 2007 1st rounder, 2008 1st rounder, and 2009 first rounder to move up to #1, which is a steep price.

Some interesting stuff on profootballtalk about that trade. Supposedly it's Aaron Rodgers for Moss: There's also some more stuff regarding Moss, Favre, and Calvin Johnson: This could really affect JaMarcus Russell. Where does he go if the Raiders take Calvin Johnson? Maybe to the Browns at 3? What about Brady Quinn, how far could he drop? All the way to the Packers?

Not if McGahee doesnt agree to a contract extension and he leaves after this season. And all I can think of is, why would a team like the Bills with no other viable option at RB trade away such a supposedly great potential talent for mere draft picks even if they did know he was going to leave anyway. If he's so great and all youd think they would put more effort into getting a deal done or something.. Id say this is the Ravens 2nd of 3 years with a shot at going to the Super Bowl. If they dont make it after next year, they're going to be in trouble if they dont have good drafts the next two years and get their salary cap situation fixed somehow. McNair will probably be gone, and some big named guys on the defense will be on the declining portions of their careers. Come on Marvin, they wouldn't have traded for the guy without the framework for a contract in place. From Profootballtalk.com:

I don't think it's that obvious. They already have Moss and Porter on the roster, and Moss has a salary of like 9.5 million or something equally ridiculous this year. Tying up so much salary in one position is probably not a good idea. In terms of needs, tthey have needs everywhere. They have a terrible offensive line and no quarterback, so either of those two spots seems more important to fill than grabbing a third WR. Edit: Cheech beat me to this.

It was a chick from Invasion, I think her name was Kari Matchett.

Isaac pulled the trigger. And he did hit someone that needed killing. Hatian shot up HRG as well. And finally Mohinder did pull the trigger, eventually. Poor, stupid Mohinder.

Oh man, the Savage/Perfect/Flair/Ramon match brought back a lot of memories. Flair used to cut such great promos, it's so sad what a joke he is on Raw now. I also forgot how insanely great the Brain was. His grovelling after slapping Perfect, flipping out on commentary. He always added a lot to every broadcast.

I still don't understand that Green Bay/Moss thing. Green Bay has needs other than WR, and it's not like Donald Driver was stinking it up last year. Why spend 9 million or whatever on Moss? For Moss, it doesn't make sense either. He's aging and he hasn't won, why go to Green Bay? It's not like they're one piece away from a championship. I've seen some Moss to New England rumors, and that makes a lot more sense. That Pats could use a real WR, they've shown that they can bring in malcontents and reform them (Corey Dillon), and they are a definite contender. The other Moss rumor has him going to the Jags, possibly for Byron Leftwich. Immobile Byron would get killed behind that garbage Raiders O-line.

Wow, I actually owned Fighting Vipers, and had completely forgotten about it. Nice trip down memory lane there, thanks for the post Andrew.

Profootballtalk is saying Plummer is retiring instead. It's a pretty good source for news and rumors, even with that retarded Turd Watch and the various vendettas that the writers have. Bly is still one of the best man corners in the league. He might not fit in Detroit's D, but he's still insanely valuable to teams like Denver and Washington. I think Detroit could have gotten a lot more out of Washington than Denver, and they probably should have concentrated in that direction.

I don't know about that. At least Resident Evil provides some unintentional laughs. Specifically, the "run up the wall and roundhouse kick a dog in the face" has the theater howling. Silent Hill wasn't especially creepy and had no comedic value.

Even if it didn't have any bugs, the core gameplay isn't that great. It seems like the meat of the game would be in actually coaching the team on gameday, but the rehashed Madden engine doesn't display things very well and really isn't very fun to watch. Plus, the player progression is too easy (I had Vince Young and Reggie Bush both at 100 within a season...that's just wrong), and "money" plays make playcalling a bit of a joke (no need to gameplan when play action streaks will score a touchdown every other time you call it). The other part I was looking forward to was the draft, but there's nothing there, no buildup or real sense of who the "stars" are in the upcoming draft class. Plus your crappy scout always advises the worst picks. Why would I take a WR, when I already have Moss and Porter? Such a disappointment. Just fixing the bugs and added some desperately needed interface improvements wouldn't be enough to fix that game.

E is definately true. But that's independent of the rest.

I'm hoping Morris shoots that douchebag Milo in the face. Why would Milo get a commendation? For being shot and having his ass saved by Jack?? Fucking tourist Milo.

I try to beat on the guy in the ring a bit, then tag in my partner. Then just go around to the other end of the ring and beat on the guy who would normally interfere. If you get a special, run in and kill the legal opponent. Eventually your tag partner will make the pin. Unless you're talking about Mexicools vs Taker/Kane. Then you should just save yourself some time and muck with the sliders.

The way I've won ladder matches is to superplex a guy off the ladder to the outside of the ring (have to use a finisher to do that). They'll be dead for a while. I kind of like the gameplay mechanic of using the right stick to do moves or grab the belt, but I wish each person in a ladder match has their own belt meter. It would stop Kid's situation from happening.

A lot of the FFX hate stems from things like the "Laughing" scene...I think that was more an issue with the script than with the actors themselves. What are you supposed to do with that scene? The only way it really made sense to me is if: a) Tidus and Yuna are both quite stupid. b) Whistling randomly and laughing is how stupid people connect. That or they were on drugs. Anyways, the point is that the really bad voice acting in FFX is really glaring, and those scenes are the ones people are going to remember. The majority of non-Yuna dialogue, from combat comments to random conversations was mediocre to good.

I ended up buying a used Saturn around when Dreamcast came out, just to play Dragon Force. It's an excellent game, I have the box for it sitting a few feet away. It's sad that Saturn still failed miserably even with a decent library of exclusive games.

So you play through a game for that garbage? The Voiceovers make me want to kill myself after about 30 seconds.
