I have a character using a base spear, and it does some pretty crazy damage. It's actually pretty quick as long as the character isn't buried under heavy armour. The Quickenings are pretty much broken. I have been able to beat the snot out of every boss using quickenings, one chain does upwards of 10k damage (that was against the snakey kinda mark in the mines). I'd almost suggest not using the Quickenings because it makes the bosses far too easy.

EA knows they don't have to put any effort into Madden to sell a billion copies. I really wish that 2k would do something with their wonderful engine, but it looks like it isn't happening. 2k5 is a great game, but it's pretty much impossible to put an updated roster on it and it's a little dated. Still better than Madden, sadly.

I know someone who loved XI, and she's pretty normal. It seems to have a large community, popular enough to span two expansions. Yep, no one likes it. If you didn't like Tidus, you won't like Vaan. I don't care for Vaan at all, and I actually liked Tidus. Vaan in a word: petulant.

Who actually made the Cylons? I was thinking maybe the original guy who built the Cylons is their "God", and that maybe Baltar is a descendent...might explain a bit about his connection with them. Then again, this is BSG, the writers probably haven't planned it out. I also buy Starbuck as a Cylon...she managed to fight off a Six straight up, she's some kind of elite commando/pilot/battle tactician depending on what episode it is. And she's as good at that Caprica sport as one of the best professional players. Again, it's probably just writer laziness, but it could be a fun twist later on.

I understand your pain. That guy drove Vancouver fans insane, guaranteed one soft goal per game. At least Crow should have your guys playing a fun wide-open style. And Kopitar looks for real, so you have someone to build around. Does L.A. have much in terms of goaltending prospects? I think the Kings have the wonderfully named Fukufuji, but I have no idea if he's an actual goaltender of the future.

Back to the XII chat, this game plays a lot more like Vagrant Story than any FF game before it. Story thoughts: Vaan seems like a younger, whinier version of Aladdin. Maybe he'll find a magic lamp soon.

Yup. Unless you want to play the Space Marines, Chaos, Orks, Eldar, or Imperial Guard in MP. The Tau are my favorite of the two new races, due to the freedom of play styles. Broadsides are hilarious. It's too bad their siege mode takes so long to set up. The Missile Boat "barrage" is a great way to demolish a choke point or a base, especially since you can have like 5 of em out. You use the drone ship much? I haven't tried it out yet.

So is it his plan to make a really crappy team that will never be chosen by NBC to host a Sunday Night game?

Anyone else playing the new Dawn of War game, Dark Crusade? It's quite fun, both of the new races are fairly interesting. It's also stand-alone, so you don't need to buy the original Dawn of War or Winter Assault to play.

Was anyone expecting this out of Chicago? Or Minnesota? Besides Havlat, what's the difference between the garbage Chicago team of 2005 to this year's version? Minnesota I have some idea of what happened...they play a more up-tempo game, have a single goalie, signed an offensive playmaker in Demitra, and switched out the slower defensive Willie Mitchell for a quicker offensive defenseman in Kim Jonsson.

I love your team's throwbacks. They really need to make it the main jersey.
