I'm calling BS on the whole "home team advantage" in Hockey. This isn't NFL, where 60000 screaming people can disrupt the audibles of the road team's offense. Hockey players can feed off of boos just as much as cheering.

As others have said, they all suck. Fox got my vote by default, since I can't stand the CBS and ESPN ones. I think pregame shows are kind of useless. I do my best to sleep in through them and just catch the games.

What the hell is that? Seriously, a giant golden puck would have been better.

I agree with pack. It's not impossible to come back from 2-0...didn't Montreal just do that against Boston? The Sharks are a scrappy team, and they aren't going to roll over and die.

Man, if Peterson holds out through training camp, and the Niners sign Kordell...they're going to be all kinds of terrible.

I enjoyed the women's match. When did they go all groundy submission? -
Both fighters were a lot of fun to watch, though I was cheering Pac-Man on. It was a lot more interesting than seeing a couple of heavyweights hug each other for 8 rounds, that's for sure. They set a rematch yet?

Stephanie McMahon directly made the call...

And to really make it the Worst PPV ever Disco Inferno can help Chavo win the belt from Jackie. And then afterwards Disco and Chavo can become the new Dancing Fools. I actually liked the Dancing Fools. I remember the night they formed, they came out and did a beatdown like usual heels. And then, they DANCE~! It was just so absurd that I couldn't help enjoying it. -
EA "answers" back Hmm.. nothing about the series fixing the gameplay aspect of the game. I like to have my Madden WITHOUT MVP-elements. Okay. EA you're making me buy ESPN this year. Again... what is it about ESPN's gameplay that makes it so incredibly much better than Madden? Oh, and the whole weekly soap opera thing looks more like a pain in the ass than a great new feature. Although I'm happy that they're going to replace the retarded news with a nice looking newspaper interface, with columns and actual audio interviews and stories that can happen in your franchise. Should make the game interesting. But if a player's conduct off the field starts affecting them on the field, I'm going to be pissed. I remember I turned Ryan Leaf into an MVP, then turned Cade McNown into a great successor right after him. I think that's actually a really neat feature. I was thinking ESPN was going to do something similar, since they had Playmakers and all. I think it will add a really interesting dynamic to the game, give you a reason to not want to sign TO or Keyshawn. Good for Madden. Vitamin - Compare the running game between Madden and ESPN, maybe?

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

You know Mole, I like this show as much as you. But we both know Friends is a million times more accessible than Angel. The show is on a major network that is aired in all parts of the country, while WB doesn't air in several markets. Friends had the marketing machine of NBC Thursday behind it, while Angel certainly did not. Plus Angel's great continuity makes it very tough for the casual viewer to jump in. Miss an ep or two, and you have no idea what is going on. Miss an ep of Friends, and it's no big deal. Angel also has that campy rep from Buffy. I know I thought Buffy was a garbage show before I ever saw an ep. I remember seeing someone vamp out and thinking "this is retarded" and changing the channel. Both shows are victims of a negative stereotype due to the subject matter. Friends is comfortable, familiar, somewhat formulaic. You know exactly what you're going to get every ep (Joey says something sexual, Phoebe does something crazy, Monica is anal, Chandler says something sarcastic, etc). Friends also isn't usually a downer kind of show, it's pretty lighthearted, not serious, and good for a laugh. I think us Angel fans are emotional masochists in a way, in that Angel can be really depressing sometimes, but we still watch. You know what I'm saying? Friends is much easier to watch and get into (for most people), and had the advantage of being on the same night as Seinfeld. Sucks for Angel, but what can ya do. -

I liked the Rome head of W&H. She had character...and giant breasts. Andrew was fairly amusing this ep...I really liked the bit with Darla and Dru too. The idea of a humor ep during an apocalypse was pretty darn off though. But I prefer any Angel over no Angel. It was really strange seeing Amy Acker switch off between Fred and Illyria. Interesting stuff, the relationship between Fred and Wes is pretty intriguing. No build at all for the Apocalypse though? I was expecting the ending to be something terrible...the typical "throw-away ep becomes important" style ending. -
The Texans are very underrated. They played tough last year, and have a solid core offense with Carr/Johnson/Davis. They also picked up some good D players in Robaire Smith, Dunta Robinson, and Jason Babin. With Tennessee on the decline and the Jags around the same level as them, they could get a playoff spot.

I always thought "Pearl Harbor" would be like surprise bukkake.
-
I like SJ, they're a tough team. But Sutter knows that team pretty darn well, having coached them and all. Kiprusoff also knows them very well. SJ doesn't have any of that on their team. It'll be a fun series to watch, but I have to think that Calgary has the advantage because of Sutter/Kiprusoff. Calgary in 6. Flyers/Tampa is tough to call. I suppose I'll go with the speed team over the bruisers, Tampa in 7.
-
A team like Vancouver would kill for Cujo, especially after his performance in the playoffs this year. I don't think Detroit is dumb enough to trade the guy, even if Hasek decides he wants to play again.
-
Old women really do it for you?
-
The Death Penalty is fairly cruel. I mean, you're killing them. Jail could also be considered cruel. Definately not unusual, though. Unusual happens when you get a kooky judge. Like this case where a woman convicted of killing a guy in a head-on collision had to carry around a picture of the guy. Or this guy, who was sentenced to lose 20 pounds a month so he could donate a kidney to his mom. Fairly unusual, but not cruel. Exiling someone to Montreal would be unusual. Not so much cruel, unless they really hate the French or something. Thus, constitutionally acceptable?
-
I think Boomer *IS* Berman... unless they have Boomer Esiason... which would be the suck. Yeah, Boomer == Berman. The announcers sometimes call him that in ESPN.
-
Yeah, the one glaring weakness was that Madden had a far better "franchise" mode...ESPN was pretty bare-bones in comparison. And the limited set of jerseys for created teams were terrible...I don't think anyone wants a neon pink and aqua green uniform. Looks like they're adding a lot to Franchise, and adding extra stuff in the Crib. If their Franchise mode can compare to Madden's Owner mode, ESPN should blow it away.
-
Yeah, I just read that ESPN preview. Damn, can't wait to pick that up. ESPN was an absolute blast last year, far better than Madden.
-
No, this is the most disgusting thing you have ever seen.

I am stuck. I have 6 chinese characters, and I put the beer next to the burning incense and the picture frame with the guy's picture in it. Anyone know what to do?

Awesome. We need more posts a la goatse or tubgirl or lemon party.

I loved Fusion. I was quite terrified of S-X, which usually doesn't happen with video-game villians. I loved Prime to death, so I'm stoked for MP2. I just hope it has some kind of online connectivity. Having to only play on one tv with four people would be lame.

I think everyone is partial to 2/3/5. *hugs DVDs of Buffy 5* ANyways, quick Angel question. I just saw the episode where Skip convinces Cordy to become part-demon. I'm a little confused about why this all happened. So Cordy couldn't have Jasmine unless she was part-demon? Or was she really in danger of having her head blown off from the visions? How come the PTB didn't do anything to stop Skip/Jasmine from subverting the connection to their champion?
