That's a pretty accurate costume. Good for her. The song as well as the sequence. I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but it was very cheesy. I got a kick out of the Charlie's Angels vibe it had. And Sakura is right about why I thought Paine and Kimahri are similar. Quick question: my replies to the Ronso, do they matter? I'm just wandering around in Chapter 1 before going on the Zanarkand quest.

I just got the game today, and I'm enjoying it. That opening sequence blew me away, in how incredibly cheesy and silly it was. It's pretty hard to take the game seriously after that. But hey, doesn't seem to be a very serious game at all, so it's cool. Yuna running around in that Moogle outfit was gold. I can't say I like this battle system compared to FFX...this feels way more chaotic, it just seems to devolve into me smashing x a lot. Is it just me or is Paine just Kimahri/Lulu/Auron, rolled into one? It's very cool seeing the old characters again. And relearning how annoying it is to walk through the Mi'ihen Highroad. Or walk around the terrifying Calm Lands. Random battle every three steps.

N.W.A did the original. I know Rage did a cover of it later on. Listen to any other Rage Against the Machine songs, the lead singer's voice is very recognizable.

It's interesting how people love a game like FFII. I thought the game was fun, but not in the same league as VI, VII, X...or even VIII. Crono Trigger, though...that's pretty much my favorite RPG ever. I played a bit of Front Mission 3, though I could never find a copy to buy. It was pretty cool...challenging, and a bit dark. Front Mission 4 sounds good.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

The ep would have been better if he wasn't some wacky robot. I thought that was kind of a cop-out, similar to Wes' dad this season. Damn robots! Also: "Oh my god, the slayer is a robot! Did you know the slayer was a robot?" Or something like that. Glory rules all. -
I wasn't bored through the match at all. Quite frankly, I was expecting it tp fall apart after 20 minutes or so, but they did a heck of a job. The problem I have with it is the messed up finish. Not sure if I consider it one of the best, but it was a fun hour.

You know, out of all the places to rape a girl, why pick a house that is full of cameras recording everything? I guess rapists aren't the smartest bunch.

She was quite good in Convos with Dead People. Then again, everyone was. Great ep at the time. -
Why not have it switch every year? One year it's in Toronto, the next in New York, the next in Montreal, etc. Some US cities could definately support an outdoor game.

I like how competetive the league has become. I mean, all of those teams in playoff contention could knock off the top four. Looks like this is going to be a fun end to the season.

I dunno, most of the media and tabloids seem to be telling up to point and laugh at Paris Hilton for her public sexcapades and general idiocy.

I can't believe I read that entire article. That woman sounds like the worst person ever. Keep on calling people "Debbies" you vapid fool.

The SpaceWhore? I heard Joss wanted her to play Eve. -
So what is Miami's problem, offensively? Fiedler is ok, Ricky is a good RB, and they have a good young TE in McMichael. Is it the O-line? The receivers?

If you look at the etymology of "skirt" in English, it's actually derived from Old Norse skyrta, meaning "shirt, kirtle". If German followed a similar borrowing, then the original meaning was actually shirt, not skirt. Assuming women back then wore dresses instead of shirts, it makes sense to assume that "shirt" and thus skirt would be masculine.

Please elaborate. The main thing I was thinking of was how AAVE has a habitual form of the verb "be", which is quite interesting in a linguistic sense since no other dialects of English use it. There's quite a bit more than that, though. Click here for a list of some major differences between Standard American English and AAVE, including some stuff about habitual be. It might be hard to understand if you've never studied linguistics, but you can see the complex verb forms in AAVE, especially in something like "been". Ok, here is something a little easier to read, that has a bunch of the phonological and grammatical derivations going on in AAVE, though I'm not too sure about this research; the guy seems to only have studied AAVE as depicted on the Ricki Lake show. Though I suppose that's as good a source as any. A more thorough listing of some more reputable resources for AAVE is available here. That page also has some good info on AAVE. If you are serious about learning more about linguistics or the features of AAVE, take a sociolinguistics course at your local university or college. If you have access to any library databases, check out the Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts. If you're confused by all this, PM me and I'll try to explain in some more detail.

It's not a "language," it's a bastardization of American English. It's not a language per se or a bastardization, it's a dialect of English. A very linguistically rich dialect of English, in fact. There's a lot of interesting derivation going on in African American Vernacular.

Well, most Canadians don't get ESPN. We have TSN instead. So, yeah, haven't seen em.

I guess this is spoilers for anyone who is planning on watching the game next week... But how awesome was Bill Ranford in the 2nd? Fun game to watch....seeing Fuhr make that wicked glove save brought back some memories. Russ Courtnall was flying around the ice, which was kinda suprising. Carbonneau showed off a bit too. The game was starting to get quite good with 3 mins left in the 2nd...too bad there wasn't a third.

Geez, didn't you save inbetween fights? No way any FFTA battles went longer than 3 hours. Anyways, re judges in FFXII: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): They're actually called something else in the game. Black Knights or something similar, and they're hunting down the main characters. I read some more details off a link from Wednesday's Penny Arcade. Think the actual article was at gamespot. Anyways, FFT was awesome. If they make a game even close to FFT's level of awesome, I shall be happy.

So, who isn't suprised about the Mullets? I am somewhat suprised that 2 million people actually watched that show.

Everyone except Ahman Green is up for trade on my team. I'll always look at offers, at least.

Back where I belong. Anyways, what happened to the previews you were going to do, Flik? Seemed like a good idea to me.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Dear god, was that awesome. The Spike/Angel flashbacks and fight kicked all kinds of ass. I was cheering for Spike the entire time. When he starting smacking Angel around with the giganto-cross, I was definately marking out. Then they vamped up and I was all "Oh, it's on bitches!". Gotta love Eve playing the victim, then the SWERVE~ at the end. Typical Joss booking. Great stuff. I also liked the return of the former watcher from last season, nice bit of continuity. And the crazy TONER guy. Good ol office violence.
