  1. Wild-card matchups

    AFC

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots

    Tennessee Titans at Cincinnati Bengals

First-round byes: Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts.

    NFC

    Philadelphia Eagles at Minnesota Vikings

First-round byes: Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys

  2. "Greatest professional fear?

Falling off the stage or something, but I really don't have a huge fear. I mean, it would be scary if it all suddenly came to an end."

I think one day she might find that becoming a nobody all of a sudden could be scarily real...

  3. "Don't make this right now a double standard," Benzino said at the press conference. "We gotta treat this the same way you treat Mike Tyson, like you treat Kobe Bryant, like you treat R. Kelly, like you treat O.J. Simpson."

What did any of these people's public downfalls have to do with racial comments? In all four cases, they allegedly commited CRIMES.

  4. I have no sympathy for the Paparazzis. They completely ignore people's rights to privacy and intimate moments, treat them like caged monkeys at the zoo, and then wonder why people come after them for "doing their job". Hell, besides the fact she was with a drunk cheuffer, they were a major contributor to the death of Princess Di. They are scum of the earth, and anything that happens to them at the hands of a celeb, they deserve.

  5. Even renting DVDs from Blockbuster is annoying. They're so smudged and scratched on the readable side that you wonder, with CDs being about 15 years old, who the hell doesn't know how to handle a disc.

On topic: it's concerning that console bells and whistles are what's most important. Cube doesn't have any, but I consider that the best system. Though I don't want this to turn into a system-argument thread.

  6. The voting was close, but the Chiefs remain in the top spot for the tenth straight week despite losing Sunday to the Bengals. Kansas City just edges out the Patriots, who were lifted into sole possession of the No. 2 spot after shutting out the Cowboys.

The Titans, who scuffled a little against the Jaguars, dropped to No. 3. The Panthers remain the NFC's highest ranked team at No. 4, while the Colts and Eagles come in at No. 5 and No. 6.

Meanwhile, Minnesota's slide down the rankings continues. The Vikings drop five spots from No. 9 to No. 14 following their fourth straight loss. In two weeks the Vikings have fallen from No. 5 to No. 14.

At the bottom, the Chargers' 37-8 loss to the Broncos plummets them to the basement.

    2003 Power Rankings: Week 12

    Rank Team Rec. Comment

1 Chiefs 9-1-0 A loss stinks no matter what, but not having to play with the pressure of an undefeated season on the line every week could actually help.

2 Patriots 8-2-0 Bill Belichick has the Pats flying on defense, while Tom Brady leads an offense that does enough to win and doesn't make many mistakes.

3 Titans 8-2-0 You're not going to click every week, but good teams win ugly games.

4 Panthers 8-2-0 Stephen Davis got the last laugh against his former team and made no effort to hide the fact that the game was personal.

5 Colts 8-2-0 Winning with a star player on the sideline is always a boost to a team's confidence.

6 Eagles 7-3-0 Eagles' three-headed rushing attack has been pretty effective this season.

7 Rams 7-3-0 We've been critical of Kurt Warner in the past, but telling Mike Martz to stick with Marc Bulger on Sunday showed what kind of a teammate Warner is.

8 Cowboys 7-3-0 The Cowboys need to get Quincy Carter back on track or things could go south quickly.

9 Seahawks 7-3-0 This week (at Bal.) is a perfect time for the Seahawks to show that they can go on the road and beat a decent team.

10 Broncos 6-4-0 Just a completely different team with Jake Plummer back at quarterback.

11 Dolphins 6-4-0 Ricky Williams 36-carry 105-yard day wasn't all that pretty, but it was what the Dolphins needed to do to win.

12 Packers 5-5-0 Chad Clifton can say he doesn't hold a grudge against Warren Sapp, but it had to be sweet for Green Bay's line to hold the Bucs without a sack.

13 49ers 5-5-0 Dennis Erickson can say Jeff Garcia is his QB, but who does Terrell Owens think is his QB?

14 Vikings 6-4-0 It wasn't the defense this weekend, it was six turnovers. You can have the '85 Bears defense and if you turn it over six times, you'll probably lose.

15 Bengals 5-5-0 Three straight games on the road will be a big test. The opponents aren't great, (at S.D., at Pit., at Bal.), but the Bengals are just 1-3 away from home.

16 Saints 5-5-0 Seven straight 100-yard games for Deuce McAllister. The NFL record is 14 by Barry Sanders in 1997.

17 Ravens 5-5-0 Ray Lewis and the defense have to be getting a little bit frustrated.

18 Buccaneers 4-6-0 The Bucs' remaining schedule is not that tough (NYG, at Jac., at N.O., Hou., Atl., at Ten.), but they have to win at least five and maybe six and right now, that doesn't look likely.

19 Browns 4-6-0 Looks like maybe Butch Davis pushed the right buttons at least for one week.

20 Texans 4-6-0 David Carr was sacked 76 times last season and didn't miss a snap. This year, he's only been sacked 14 times and can't stay healthy. Just doesn't make sense.

21 Redskins 4-6-0 When the season ends, no one is going to deserve a vacation more than Patrick Ramsey.

22 Giants 4-6-0 No miraculous comebacks this season. The Giants are done and that likely means Jim Fassel is done, too.

23 Jets 3-7-0 Jets defense is just flat-out bad. Not really any other way to put it.

24 Bills 4-6-0 No touchdowns in their last 12 quarters. How is that possible with Drew Bledsoe at quarterback?

25 Steelers 3-7-0 At 3-7, the Steelers aren't out of it in the AFC North, but they're pretty close.

26 Raiders 3-7-0 Charles Woodson might have earned himself a little more money Sunday by locking down Randy Moss.

27 Bears 3-7-0 Maybe he's not ready, but if we were Bears fans, we'd want to see Rex Grossman on the field sooner rather than later.

28 Jaguars 2-8-0 Jaguars have definitely improved as the season has gone on. The next step is turning that improvement into more wins.

29 Cardinals 3-7-0 Sounds like Dave McGinnis could lose his job. Question is, who will want to replace him?

30 Falcons 2-8-0 One bright spot for the Falcons has been the play of Warrick Dunn, who is averaging 5.9 yards per carry.

31 Lions 3-7-0 Did you know the Lions have a guy whose last name is Kircus (a WR on the practice squad). For some reason that seems fitting.

32 Chargers 2-8-0 The Chargers had only 96 yards of total offense against the Broncos -- that's not good.

  7. My vote for misleading goes to "The Score". The point of the trailer is that two crooks are working together, then one does a heel turn on the other. When you see the movie, you begin to realize that that WAS the climactic "twist" to the movie. Yup. They gave up the twist in the trailer.

  8. 2003 Power Rankings: Week 11

    Rank Team Rec. Comment

1 Chiefs 9-0-0 Watch out for the Bengals. We're not saying they're going to beat the Chiefs, but it's not out of the question either.

(TIE) 2 Titans 7-2-0 Steve McNair gets the attention, but Tennessee's defense showed that it can play a little, too.

(TIE) 2 Patriots 7-2-0 Quincy Carter has improved, but that improvement will be put to the test against Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

4 Panthers 7-2-0 Sunday's win was huge for Jake Delhomme, who proved he can carry the Panthers if the situation arises.

5 Colts 7-2-0 Home-field advantage is huge in the playoffs, so the Colts can't afford any more losses to teams like the Jaguars.

6 Eagles 6-3-0 Eagles have been outscored 166 to 159 this

season and yet are somehow 6-3. They're just finding ways to win.

7 Cowboys 7-2-0 Bill Belichick might be the defensive genius, but it's Bill Parcells who brings the NFL's No. 1 ranked D to New England this weekend.

8 Rams 6-3-0 Rams get outgained 267-121 but still win. Just a normal week in the NFL.

9 Vikings 6-3-0 Vikings better find a way to fix their defense, and quick.

10 Seahawks 6-3-0 Like most of the teams in the NFC, the Seahawks just can't find any consistency.

11 Broncos 5-4-0 Jake Plummer is expected to return, meaning the Broncos have to be considered the favorite for the final wild-card spot in the AFC.

12 Ravens 5-4-0 Kyle Boller certainly wasn't lighting it up, but with Chris Redman (did you see him Sunday?) now the starter, the Ravens could be in trouble.

13 Dolphins 5-4-0 A few weeks ago Jay Fiedler was the reason the Dolphins couldn't win a Super Bowl. Now he's being counted on to turn their season back around.

14 49ers 4-5-0 Tim Rattay is expected to start again. What do the Niners do if he has another huge game?

15 Buccaneers 4-5-0 The Bucs are in big-time trouble. With two losses to the Panthers, the Bucs can basically forget about the NFC South.

16 Packers 4-5-0 Packers blew a big chance to put some serious pressure on the Vikings in the NFC North.

17 Saints 4-5-0 If the Saints are going to make a playoff run, Sunday's game against the Falcons is a must-win.

18 Bengals 4-5-0 With Chad Johnson's guaranteed win, there's no way the Chiefs will be taking the Bengals lightly.

19 Bills 4-5-0 The defense has been there, but the offense and Drew Bledsoe have been pretty bad.

20 Redskins 4-5-0 Focus on Spurrier's job security should quiet down for at least one week.

21 Jets 3-6-0 With the Broncos and Dolphins hitting the skids, the Jets playoff hopes are still alive -- barely.

22 Giants 4-5-0 We know they beat the Jets, but a loss to the Falcons and you deserve to drop six spots in the rankings.

23 Steelers 3-6-0 If you're going to be 3-6, the AFC North is the division to do it in.

24 Browns 3-6-0 See comment above.

25 Texans 3-6-0 Another game, another 100-yard effort (and on

just 15 carries) for Domanick Davis.

26 Jaguars 2-7-0 A healthy Fred Taylor is still as dangerous as any running back in the NFL.

27 Cardinals 3-6-0 Anquan Boldin is on pace to shatter the rookie record (90 by Terry Glenn) for receptions.

28 Chargers 2-7-0 Doug Flutie always seems to find a way to bring the magic back for a few games.

29 Lions 3-6-0 Looking for a bright spot in Detroit? Rookie LB Boss Bailey has been flying all over the field making plays.

30 Bears 3-6-0 All that crazy talk about the Bears actually being playoff contenders can stop.

31 Falcons 2-7-0 Congratulations to Dan Reeves. It's been a rough season, but 200 wins is impressive and deserves our

    praise.

32 Raiders 2-7-0 Man, from No. 3 in our preseason rankings all the way to No. 32. That's some fall.

  9. I've been wanting to make this post for a while. How come No Mercy is considered to be the end all of wrestling video games? I love the AKI engine as much as anyone, but I think Wrestlemania 2000 was a better game.

Sure, No Mercy had better graphics, sound, a handful of backstage areas and a ladder match, but perhaps all of these things made the game SLOWER than WM2000. I remember the guys running like sludge the first time I played.

Entrance videos don't play on the Titantron, tag teams don't come out together, no full-ring entrances. Hey, bells and whistles are important, and it's annoying that things that were all included in WM2000 were scaled back in NM.

I also hated NM's championship mode. I liked the weekly-card based season mode. In NM's, it was hard to follow the timeline of a feud. One week, you'd fight on Smackdown!, then inexplicably, your next entrance was at a PPV. It seemed more helter-skelter.

Anyway, does anyone feel the same way I do regarding these two games? Or not and why?

  10. While we're at it, one thing that I hate about the modern wrestling game is that you can't have a "pinning Royal Rumble," as I call them. You know, set up 4 to 40 guys, turn off over the top eliminations, have the ring fill up, and every time someone is pinned, the next wrestler makes his way down. That was a good time passer.
