Teke, the sad irony for U of L is that in 2004 we finished #10 in the BCS and got obviously passed on by the BCS....nowdays #10 would get a team from a non BCS league in (like C-USA). In other words, U of L could have stayed in C-USA and gone undefeated damn near every year, finished in the BCS top 12, and been in the BCS constantly. I'll put it this way. If Rutgers beats WVU on Saturday and then U of L ends up screwed by the BCS, you guys get to see a meltdown in here that will make Dama look tame and friendly.
-
Okay I don't get this. Are you saying that the Big East doesn't have a flat out tie with a particular BCS game, or that the Big East won't get into the BCS regardless? This actually interests me since if U of L gets into the BCS I'd rather play someone better than Wake or Ga Tech. If the Orange Bowl takes ND as some think, where does the Big East champ go? Sugar?
-
I don't think ND can be sent to the Orange since isn't that supposed to be Big East vs. ACC? I don't see the room for an at large in that game. Why would LSU go to the Rose Bowl? To play Michigan? Cause right now a goofy revenge game with USC is dubious. The only BCS game that would be dying to get LSU is the Sugar Bowl, but I can't see them playing an all SEC BCS game. Quite honestly the BCS needs some kind of rules that forces a bowl to take the highest ranked team on an at large. Seriously, can anyone justify the BCS taking Notre Dame if they fall out of the top 10, while leaving out for instance a possible #5 or 6 U of L or a 2nd SEC team?
-
That'd be such bullshit. I'm hoping WVU scrapes together some sort of effort and beats Rutgers. Where exactly would LSU even go in the BCS? The only bowl that makes any sense for them is the Sugar Bowl, but the SEC champion would go to that I think. I'm still trying to figure out how a 2 loss LSU team that finished third in the SEC west is in any sort of BCS contention. Let's take a look at this if Rutgers actually wins vs. WVU: Title game: Ohio St. vs. USC Rose: Michigan vs. Notre Dame (yes, someone will get screwed here in favor of ND) Orange: Rutgers vs. Wake Forest or Georgia Tech (doesn't matter which) Fiesta: Boise St. vs. Oklahoma or Nebraska (doesn't matter which) Sugar: Florida or Arkansas vs. ? See my point on this? If ND screws someone over I think it'd most likely be a 2nd SEC team, since I don't see any way the Sugar Bowl can justify an all SEC game. In a perfect world Notre Dame would fall far enough that a BCS bowl couldn't justify taking them over someone ranked 5-6 spots above them. In other words, ideally ND shouldn't even get in the BCS with two losses by 20+ points and should Rutgers win over WVU the Big East should get 2 BCS bids and the SEC would get 2 bids too.

Let me throw out a potentially nightmarish scenario for my guys, U of L. Chances are we'll squash UConn next week to go to 11-1. I've been counting on WVU to crush Rutgers to end the season, but after today I am now worried. What happens if Rutgers beats WVU and goes 11-1? I know they would get the Big East automatic bid, but what is U of L looking at in terms of a possible at large? Or is U of L going to get fucked over in favor of this bullshit ND team?
-
I think Arkansas rebounds and takes out Florida next week anyway, so it'll be a moot point. Jesus, I just watched the end of that UK/Tennessee game. UK has the ball on the 3 yard line with a couple minutes left, and does a DELAY OF GAME that pushes them back to the 8. Being UK, they just turn the ball over on downs from there and go on to lose 17-12. Did I mention UK also missed an extra point and a 33 yard FG? CanadianChris, don't think you quite grasped what I meant in that previous point. I've assumed for weeks that WVU would simply crush Rutgers and thus U of L gets the BCS, but with WVU laying an egg today I am a bit worried that they will lay down for Rutgers next week now that their BCS hopes are history.
-
Wow, I am shocked that USF went into Morgantown and beat WVU 24-19. WVU was favored by like 3 TDs in that game too. I can't decide what to think of this result. On one hand it gives U of L a decent shot at winning the Big East outright next week, but on the other hand WVU beating Rutgers doesn't exactly look surefire at this point. Given the way things usually go for U of L football it'll probably end up a tie at 11-1 with Rutgers and they go to the BCS and U of L will of course get totally screwed out of a BCS at large.
-
I'm shocked there wasn't a LOTR spoof in that trailer somewhere. Or is it played out after Clerks 2? After seeing that trailer, I'm amazed that this is actually going to theaters. It has direct to video written all over it.

That was a good win for LSU today but it's still a curious development. I'm the one harping on the fact that there's no way the BCS could dare take a team that finished third in a division. For instance, why take LSU over Auburn when Auburn has a head to head win? There's zero logical reason as to why LSU is ranked above Auburn in the BCS when they both went 10-2, finished tied in the SEC, and Auburn has the head to head. Can the BCS really take the 4th best team in the SEC, one that wasn't even in the SEC title game? As far as WVU goes, they have a fading chance at the Orange Bowl, since if U of L wins out we'll likely go. WVU would need to beat Rutgers and hope U of L loses to Pitt or UConn. WVU--if they go 11-1 and tie for the Big East--should certainly get an at large to the BCS.

Yeah but here is a thing that puzzles me. Let's say Batista wins the title. Where do you go with it? The Booker feud wouldn't have enough left to go to WM, and there's really no other main event heel ready.
-
Yeah but let's be honest. UK is still utter dogshit. They mostly scheduled themselves a bowl game with some home games against nobody teams. U of L beat the piss out of them with absolute ease, LSU blanked them in an assrape 49-0, Florida beat them pretty easy (26-7). UK just beat Louisiana-Monroe by 2 points, also beat a horrid Miss St. 34-31. Mind you, it'll be fun to see UK back in a bowl of some sort, but let's also realize that they have avoided Arkansas and Auburn in the SEC schedule. Rich Brooks will likely get a new contract based on beating Georgia (who is way down this year), beating a few OOC scrubs, and some SEC cellar dwellers. Now if UK can beat Tennessee I'll be impressed, but they're more likely to lose 42-10.
-
Hang on, UGA is actually favored against Ga Tech in that one? Oh God. Good grief, Georgia lost to UK this year. GT should beat the piss out of them.
-
Gonzaga 82, UNC 74. Much like the Marquette win over Duke this didn't even seem like that much of an upset. It's amazing the way Zaga replaces players and stays competitive, but I still doubt Mark Few's coaching when it comes to the tourney.
-
Actually I think Booker will sneak past Batista via DQ or countout and thus Batista would have to win the Rumble or something for another title shot. Here is one thing I would like to know: What business is it of Benoit's to interfere in Eddie Guerrero's estate? Dude, it pretty much IS Vicki Guerrero's business and it isn't yours.
-
Am I missing something about Florida? This is a team that barely staggered past Vandy and needed miracle blocked kicks to beat South Carolina. Ohio St. would roll them...FL can't score enough.
-
I've ranted on LSU being so high in the BCS. 2 losses on the year and they are going to finish 3rd in the SEC west. This is not a BCS level team. Send em to the Peach Bowl. Tulane was so lucky in 1998. I remember U of L was playing them and down something like 26-21, and had the ball inside the 5 yard line at the end of the game. And of course couldn't get the ball in for a TD, going 4 and out. It seems like every big U of L road game has been a strange repeat of that.

Ironically I think the film was about 20 mins. too long as well but the end stuff isn't what I would cut. I'd get rid of the pointless opening chase scene, and pretty much everything in the Bahamas, Miami, etc. It was all pointless and had little to do with the actual plot. Kahran, I'm not sure what Lazenby could or couldn't do. He was only in one movie, and it was an oddball entry with Bond in a serious romance and he spends 30 mins. in disguise. I used to think that OHMSS would be the best Bond movie with Connery in it, but having watched it the other night I don't think it suits Connery very well.
-
I'm not sure why they would say World is Not Enough is the flat out worst Bond movie because I don't think anyone else would say that. But then Diamonds Are Forever as the worst? I'll admit it has some problems (Blofeld in drag, Bond no selling the events of OHMSS) but it's a very fun outing as a stand alone film. I guess one could say it's a flat ending to the whole Blofeld storyline, but I have to think they wanted to go back to Blofeld later and didn't. I'm still perplexed by the love of For Your Eyes Only on this board. It's decent but in the end kind of a 2nd rate rehash of From Russia With Love with much weaker villains.
-
It might be worse because in the end it won't matter worth a damn, since Ohio St. will beat the piss out of either. Honestly, you know who I think would have the best shot at Ohio St. and this might sound bizarre....West Virginia. They won't get it since U of L beat them (and everyone knows if you lose to U of L you have to suck, right?) and WVU might not win the Big East outright. Honestly, I don't think anyone can really stop White and Slaton. OSU might win but they would have to simply outscore WVU something like 45-42.

Yeah I always like the traditional survivor matches. Predictions: I'll say Orton and Edge will both survive since lord knows Orton has to survive every year. Cena, RVD, Lashley all survive. They all gang Show early to get him out of there, Umaga and Kane will both get counted out or DQed. Booker will retain via nefarious means, maybe get counted out or DQed. I'll take Chavo over Benoit with a Vicki run in. Micki James will beat Lita and send her packing. The Legends will sweep the Spirit Squad. Kennedy will get a cheap first blood win over UT and gain nothing from it.

Okay I have to ask after reading this: Who the hell is Daniel Rodimer? It said he was in OVW but I don't know who he is. The only guy that sounds 6'6 and 300 lbs. down here is Jacob Duncan.

The usual, here are the games for the weekend with predictions and all that good stuff. Sunday 1:00: Minnesota (4-5) at Miami (3-6): Dolphins are on a jobber roll and the Vikings are struggling lately. I think the Dolphins keep it going and win this in narrow fashion by 4. Chicago (8-1) at NY Jets (5-4): Bears cruised past the Giants and now the Jets get a crack. I think it might end up slightly closer but the Bears will win this by at least 10. Atlanta (5-4) at Baltimore (7-2): Falcons are reeling right now and Vick isn't playing real well. The Ravens keep somehow winning games at the end, so they should keep the Falcons in turmoil. Ravens by 6. Pittsburgh (3-6) at Cleveland (3-6): Steelers may end up in a similar jobber run like the Dolphins. For some reason I can't see the Browns winning this even at home. Steelers by 7. Buffalo (3-6) at Houston (3-6): What a bleh matchup. I'll go ahead and take the Texans if for no other reason than it is in Houston. Texans by 3. Oakland (2-7) at Kansas City (5-4): Raiders have been trying hard lately despite what Moss says, but I doubt they win at Arrowhead. Chiefs should win this by 13. Tennessee (2-7) at Philadelphia (5-4): Eagles got back on track this past week and they should continue rolling against the crappy Titans. Eagles by 17. New England (6-3) at Green Bay (4-5): Okay, Packers have been playing better lately and the Pats are struggling. That said, I can't see the Pats dropping 3 straight. NE by 3. Have Favre and Brady played against each other before? St. Louis (4-5) at Carolina (5-4): A matchup of relative mediocrity. The Panthers are hard to figure out, but for some reason I think the Rams finally get a solid road win. STL by 7. Cincinnati (4-5) at New Orleans (6-3): Are the Saints finally starting to struggle? Perhaps but not as much as Cincy. Saints should keep the Bengals reeling and win here by 4. Washington (3-6) at Tampa Bay (2-7): Hard to believe this was a playoff matchup. Since this is Jason Campbell's first start who knows what to expect but I'll go with the Bucs at home by 7. 4:00: Seattle (6-3) at San Francisco (4-5): Seattle seems more lucky than good thus far, but they do get Hasselbeck and Alexander back. That said, I have a hunch on this one and will go with the Niners in an upset by 3 to get to a shocking .500. Detroit (2-7) at Arizona (1-8): Oh God, what is THIS? I don't really care who wins this hideous matchup, mostly feel sorry for the fans watching it. Cardinals get that 2nd win 17-14. Indianapolis (9-0) at Dallas (5-4): Looking forward to this one. The Cowboys could possibly hand the Colts that first loss, but for some reason I can't see it. Colts by 6. 8:15: San Diego (7-2) at Denver (7-2): This is a total tossup and a great game for the Sunday night NBC game. Since it's in Denver I'll take the Broncos by 3, but the Chargers will pay them back in the rematch. Monday 8:30: NY Giants (6-3) at Jacksonville (5-4): Jags are such a hard team to figure out. Giants can't afford to go on a losing streak with the Eagles and Cowboys lurking, so I think they will win this by hook or crook. Giants by 4.

There were a couple of things that baffled me tonight. Why bring in Sabu tonight only to job him out with zero build or fanfare to Umaga? That's a match that could have been interesting with some hype. How about an Extreme Rules match with those two? Umaga matches at this point by definition have no heat, because people know he's getting a lame undefeated push and thus don't react because there is no suspense. I say just end his streak, give us an idea he could lose but remain mostly dominant, and his matches would have some interest. Speaking of Sabu, they actually mention the Hardys will be on ECW tomorrow night in their first tag match together in 5 years. Yet they don't do the obviously cool matchup of them vs. RVD/Sabu? It's not like there are that many chances to do such a match.

You know, none of this ranting about USC and Michigan would be necessary if U of L had simply taken care of Rutgers. For that I apologize on behalf of the Cardinals. Anyway I think Jim Tressel had it right. If you don't win your conference, you have no business talking national title. Michigan lost by 3, but it was kind of like the Eagles losing to the Patriots by 3. As in watching the game they just sorta were in it but had no real shot in hell of winning. For instance if they don't tack on that late TD and 2 pt. conversion Ohio St. wins it by 11 and nobody would demand a rematch. It'll be interesting to see how it shapes up if Michigan stays #2 in a poll while USC takes #2 in the BCS. If USC wins vs. OSU and Michigan wins the Rose Bowl....could it be a split title?

You hate Thunderball so much you listed it twice, eh?
