    Box Office Report.

Why is anyone surprised that a movie by Scorsese that stars DiCaprio, Damon, Nicholson, Wahlberg, etc. was #1 at the box office? I like R. Lee Ermey but still wouldn't go see TCM over Departed.

NLDS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Diego Padres

Why is anyone shocked at this? Yeah the Cardinals sucked awful down the stretch but when they aren't tanking horribly they are certainly a better team than the Padres. Did anyone in the thread besides me have the Cardinals winning this series? I'd laugh if the Cardinals somehow beat the Mets. Then we'll either get the rematch of the 1931 World Series with the A's (A's: "We've waited 75 years for this, bitches!") or a rematch of the 1934 Gashouse Gang Series with the Tigers. Also 1968 too.

    NFL Week 5

Okay I have to admit the alarms are on now for me in regards to the Colts. I mean beating the hopeless Titans by 1 point on a late TD? It seems like everyone has figured out the formula for beating Indy, namely run the hell out of the ball and keep Manning off the field. Not a new strategy but more effective now than in the past. The Bears kicking the shit out of the Bills actually surprised me. I knew Chicago would win but I figured it'd be an ugly, defensive 17-7 type game. As far as a possible Bears/Ravens Super Bowl, I've been joking about what a Man's Game that would be.

ALDS: Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees

Why is this such an upset? The Tigers had a better record for most of the season until a bit of a late season swoon. They also had a much better pitching staff for the season. You know, looking at this now doesn't Oakland have home field the rest of the postseason? I think the A's get home field over Detroit due to being a division winner (Tigers are the wildcard) and then the AL has home field in the World Series.

    Kevin Nash re-signs with TNA

I for one don't blame Nash for not wanting to job to Sabin. Why the hell would he do that? His whole X division angle was just starting. He'd faced all of 2 guys who were X wrestlers. The main problem with the whole feud is that Nash was so obviously more charismatic and over than the X guys that I think a lot of fans sided with Nash because he was more entertaining.
  6. I think someone mentioned it on another thread but MVP's whole gimmick is odd for a rookie. Why would Teddy Long give a shit about a rookie who hasn't proven himself at all? Even arrogant NFL players usually prove something at the college level. MVP would be funnier if he was this cocky asshole who was humbled initially by some losses, then had to regroup and gain some fan respect. It's the sort of angle Heyman could book, but can Michael Hayes?

This Week in College Football 10/3 - 10/8

I dunno about Florida yet. They still have Auburn and Georgia and I think one of those two will muster up an effort to take them out. Auburn was horrid today but losing two in a row at home? U of L was bleh last night but it was just Middle TN. Hopefully we'll get Brohm back fairly soon.

    Kevin Nash re-signs with TNA

I bet Nash is spoofing the whole "major announcement" thing that TNA is so fond of doing. As in his big announcement will be "I'm back" or something goofy. Of course he'll say it in the same tone he did when he said the immortal "I'm going, bye."

    Kevin Nash re-signs with TNA

It was silly to let Nash go to begin with. Hell, Nash was one of the best things on TNA with the whole Shelley storyline. It'll be fun to have him back.

If Bret Hart wasn't injured in 1997,.....

Yeah without Bret in the wheelchair you don't get the crazy angle with Austin destroying Bret's leg to set up that whole bit.

    Legends of Horror

This looks like a really cool set of old horror classics. The lineup is: Doctor X Return of Doctor X (not a sequel though) Mad Love Mark of the Vampire The Devil Doll The Mask of Fu Manchu Doctor X in particular is one of my favorite movies.

    ECW Videos v2.0

I just checked out those RVD/Sabu/Fonzie promos. I love those, man they were hilarious. RVD was such an awesome egomaniac, yet still oddly likable. I enjoyed the last one best, the "Mr. PPV" bit. "Sabu was so busy dropping the ball at the PPV that he totally missed my match, which of course was the best match on the PPV. Congratulations Jerry on having the best match...not on winning, because you lost, Jerry. You didn't beat me, the people know you didn't beat me...."
  13. Didn't I recall reading that Steve Keirn was an ECW agent? As far as booking goes this show had Heyman all over it. There might be minimal WWE Creative on the show too, but a lot of it seems like Heyman. As far as a lot of the in ring spots last night I'd think RVD came up with a lot of it. I thought it was wild to see Van Dam hit the powerbomb to the floor spot on Test, since he's usually on the receiving end.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

Is it just me or are they hyping this new TCM movie more around Ermey as Sheriff Hoyt than Leatherface? Perhaps someone finally realized Leatherface is only as good as the crazy family members.
  15. Eh, the Test/Eddie match from WM 17 is maybe a **1/2 match. A typical TV type match on PPV. Test's problem is that once he got buried in late 1999, he got BURIED. He really didn't have many chances to have a serious match with anyone. Mainly I think he just needs to be repackaged. Just call him Andrew Martin, since his real name is already somewhat established on TV (from the wedding angle) and the Test gimmick is so insanely stale.

Smackdown Spoilers for the 10/6 Airing

MVP is out of Deep South, so yeah I could safely surmise he sucks. What does it say when the best guy to come out of Deep South thus far as been Khali? Lushus, there's probably something to that "Rock is half Samoan so he doesn't count" thing. But moreso than the race factor Booker/Lashley is already played out in TV matches. They also might not feel Lashley can carry his end of a main event on PPV just yet.

ECW Spoilers for the 10/10 Airing

Nah I'm feeling RVD getting the heat back on Test in that 6 man. I'd save Striker's jobbing for a 1 on 1 match with Sandman. It sounds like a good show (the ECW originals actually win???) so hopefully the strip poker won't take up too much time.
  18. He's so invincible that he jobbed....to Test. If anything I think RVD finally losing in the face of such odds keeps him over, whereas when fans see someone like Cena overcome all this stuff and still win it comes off like BS.
  19. I think it could be a mix. As in they have several matches featuring feuds on the weekly show but they might also bring in some other names from the past for the PPV. The important thing is that the entire PPV needs to be Extreme Rules.
  20. I agree. If there is one thing about ECW right now it's that the booking is giving me a genuine sense of outrage as a fan. At first I felt simply insulted by it, but as time goes on I realize I legit want to pay to see these guys like Heyman's Goons, Show, Test, etc. just get the shit kicked out of them on PPV. I'm talking a pile of bodies laying in the center of the ring by the end of December to Dismember. That said, no this match tonight wasn't as good as RVD/Holly last week. They both accomplished exactly what they wanted to do though (the Holly match was to establish Holly as a hardcore force, this match was to do somewhat the same for Test but spark outrage over RVD being ripped off). The Holly match was a bit better though due to it being man on man, no bullshit from Heyman and his thugs. Isn't the booking interesting in comparison to Raw? On Raw we have DX squashing every team in sight and a few other guys they aren't feuding with. On ECW we have Rob Van Dam damn near killing himself back to back weeks to get guys like Holly and Test over.

    WarGames

The 1987 one is really good and I also like the 1991 and 92 ones too. It was hilarious watching the 91 match on Pillman's DVD, Sid was calling all sorts of spots throughout the match. He and Rick Steiner practically have a conversation.

    WWE announces 2006 DVDs

That stuff sounds horrible, I'm glad I don't remember it. I think for most people Pillman's career post Blondes and pre Horsemen/Loose Cannon is the dead zone. There was a funny match on the DVD vs. Malenko from Nitro (Jan. 1996). During the match Pillman has Deano in a choke and rants at the camera "I am the Shooter because I have a Full Metal Jacket!"

    OAO RAW is War 10/2/06

Gotta be the Masters comment. The Cena comment was his heelish comment and he ended up getting his ass kicked so in theory Cena proved him wrong. Masters however likely won't ever get any heat back on HHH and it served no purpose in a feud. Not to mention it drew attention to Masters having lost a lot of his physique.

    Vince Russo

Okay, one second here. Do you guys not even remember the WCW stuff from roughly May till Oct. when Russo arrived? Now THAT shit was truly the worst wrestling I've ever seen. Nitro was 3 hours of unholy hell, truly awful and pointless angles, stuff that made no sense, angles that never had a payoff (Hummer), no good matches, and what's worse it was FUCKING BORING. Let's face it, Russo didn't revive the company. But at least his crazed nonsense sparked my interest during the Powers That Be. At least those 3 hours of Nitro weren't a horribly boring place in hell. Also, the Sullivan crap that following Russo in 2000 is a lot worse, and while it didn't have as many awful angles as the Nash period it was possibly even more boring. Of the shitty WCW booking periods Russo's initial run is a distant 3rd to the Nash era and also the Sullivan 2000 era.

    WON TNA News + Notes

Hindsight is 20/20 with Steiner, but let's face it. In early 2003 Steiner was going to suck no matter who he faced. Let's say they did the Test feud instead...he'd have still fucked up big time, fallen down in the ring, tripped on the ring apron, etc. After that he wouldn't have any heat anyway and not even have been in the world title scene.
