Da Beast was hilarious on OVW. He was one of the guys on there that was treated as a jobber yet strangely caught my attention. His "Head Nigga In Charge" interviews were gold. He was hilarious since he'd do this ultra hard promos about being such a "tough nigga from the hood" and then CM Punk would just make him tap in less than 5 minutes.

I'm not sure how to react to this game tonight. On one hand I wasn't amazed by either team. As a U of L fan should I now be encouraged or worried about Miami on the 16th? It's hard to say what kind of D Miami really has since FSU is pretty crappy on offense. Even without Bush U of L has more weapons than FSU on offense, thing is our defense kinda blows.

I have been a mark for Shad "Da Beast" Gaspard down in OVW so I was tickled that he finally debuted with Cryme Tyme. The other guy is called Neighborhoodie down in OVW...he's really, really bad, haha. Gaspard is mediocre in the ring but he's gold on the mic. I am still going to have to see DX on ECW to believe it. I mean what are we to believe? Heyman already flat out said HHH doesn't work Tuesdays!

I dunno, Cal did actually beat USC in 2003. I believe that was the last time USC lost a regular season game. That said, Cal is hardly any great powerhouse. They seem like the sort of team who can have a good year in the Pac 10 if a lot of other teams suck.

I don't think Bush would have been a real high draft pick had he gone pro after last year. Thus he decided to come back and hopefully get U of L to the BCS for the first time. It sucks. That said, U of L isn't really going to fall apart due to this. It'll have to be more of a running back by committee, but the thing is U of L has already done some of that anyway. Kolby Smith and George Stripling were both solid last year (I believe to the tune of 1100 yards) and last night they had 156 between them.
-
I feel sick right now. Can we redshirt Bush and he and Brohm can come back as seniors next year?
-
Okay maybe I'm not so worried about U of L's trip to Manhattan, KS after the Miami game. As far as USC goes, I'm not sure who will beat them but someone will do it this year. Last year they relied on Leinart and Bush to survive some insane games, and maybe now they wouldn't win one or two of those.

Jerichoholic, the main problem with his team with Benoit against Austin in 2001 was that Benoit was clearly more impressive in his matches against Austin. Thus, the crowd favored Benoit more and Jericho looked like an afterthought in a feud that was meant to be the other way around (Jericho vs. Austin, Benoit as afterthought). Then of course Benoit got hurt and Jericho drifted aimlessly for another 4 months until the Rock feud.

Carlito would fit in better right now on SD than he did in 2004-05. For one thing he's improved light years since then. Let's face it, he was truly dreadful at that point. In some ways the fact that he was pushed before he had any clue might always haunt him, as does his embarrassing losses. The guy lost to Flair via the Figure 4 after Flair hit a move from the top rope. If that isn't burying a guy, I dunno what is. The sad thing is that he's improved a lot this year, but he's done so much jobbing that no one takes him seriously, and thus if he beats someone no one takes that guy seriously since he jobbed to Carlito.

Rutgers beat UNC in Chapel Hill today, 21-16. I also saw that Pitt put a beating on Virginia 38-13. As far as the Big East goes, only Cuse lost to the ACC's Wake Forest 20-10. Now if U of L can put a beatdown on Miami in a couple weeks the Big East might start gaining some cred. I have to admit Pitt squashing Virginia disturbs me somewhat. Surely I can't be alone in thinking that Pitt (with Dave Wannstedt) trying to challenge for the BCS is one of the worst things that could happen in college football this year.

WM III is an all time classic PPV. Good grief, you have Savage/Steamboat (MOTY 1987) on that show, and also there's loads of other *** type matches such as the Can Ams vs. Orton/Muraco, the 6 man with the Bulldogs/Tito vs. Harts/Davis, Piper/Adonis. I even like some of the matches like Rougeaus vs. Dream Team, though the booking made no sense (why would the Dream Team WIN the match and break up?). Nearly everything else had some kind of angle behind it. And yes, Hogan slams Andre at the end. Not a classic match per se, but certainly an iconic moment. Just wondering, but what are the dozens of PPVs you guys think are better than WM III? What other PPVs have its kind of historic relevance, decent at worst and great at best ringwork, and usually excellent booking (aside from the goofy Dream Team win)?

I'm not exactly sure where the hype for Cal was coming from. They strike me as a team that would finish about 3rd in the Pac 10, hardly any sort of top 10 threat. Didn't their starting QB get injured before the season?

If this is what the Torch puts out it's nothing compared to Meltzer's newsletter. This whole thing just seemed like Nitro results and Warrior bashing, not much else.
-
I definitely knew who Kamala was, because I had a toy of him from the old 1980s line of figures. One of my favorites too. He's always been a guilty pleasure of mine. Man, you can tell from reading this that Meltzer just HATES the WWF. So much so that he quite frankly comes off like a total dick, what with his "RestholdMania" comments and all. WM III is only one of the best PPVs ever.

I haven't seen the 60 minute draw, but it sounds like it was probably boring. As far as Justin Credible as world champ, I don't recall him getting totally shit on by the crowd. More or less he just had no heat either way. I don't think Batista was sent there to get trashed to make Vince turn on the venue. It makes no sense, and besides Vince and Co. told Batista before the match he'd get dumped on. Honestly I think it was just a foolish decision that didn't do anyone any good. It hurt ECW in terms of what crowds they will work in front of now, and it also sabotaged SD's top guy.
-
I know what you mean by the crowd, Hasbeen. The Orlando crowds are like a wannabe kiddie version of ECW crowds. The problem is that they cheer for damn near everyone. Matches are supposed to have some basic level of heel and face. The TNA crowd chants for everyone, so it makes it hard to know who is essaying what role (not that the wrestlers do much to establish this either). I've also noticed a distinct abundance of "That was awesome!" chants on TNA, even when something really isn't all THAT awesome.

It's either that or they are now riffing on Paul Heyman's goons on ECW. This Zbyzsko/Hebner/Jarrett crap is the stupidest angle of the year. Since they keep beating a dead horse with this storyline, allow me to ask the same questions I have asked before: --Why did Zbyzsko bother to help Jarrett? What did it gain him exactly? I can see Hebner being corrupt since he has a history of it, but why did these guys pick the exact night a new GM took over (Cornette) to pull this shit? Zbyzsko was worried about his job status, but why? He has a no cut contract. He was in no danger of losing his job. And if he is in no danger of losing his job, then why deny being involved? --What does Hebner hope to accomplish by attacking Slick Johnson? Is he trying to expose a conspiracy? What conspiracy? Even the dumbest fool in the audience knows Hebner and Zbyzsko were bought and paid for by JJ, so what exactly can Hebner expose that we don't already know? I can see him meeting with Cornette and telling him about the conspiracy and Cornette replying "No shit, Sherlock." --Why is Jarrett denying anything? Cornette let him keep the belt, so he has nothing to lose by waving his dick and saying "Haha, motherfuckers! We fooled all of you!" I guess my point is, what exactly is everyone hiding? If Zbyzsko came clean he'd likely have been punished the same fashion he was anyway (the hair match). If Jarrett laughed at how he fooled everyone and admitted it all, Cornette would still be trying to get the belt off him. Worst angle of the year.

It's funny someone would say 2 hours is too much considering they don't have a tag division currently and half the roster can't get on TV in a match. How many more Shannon Moore vignettes do we need?

5 hours? I didn't know Teddy Long had done a heel turn. -
I actually really like the idea of a competitive rankings system. I think they still have to have storylines as well, but one aspect of old WCW I used to enjoy was the top 10. It gives a bunch of guys a purpose. The guys near the top of the rankings want title shots....the guys in the lower half of the top 10 want to win some matches to get into contention. One problem TNA has right now is that they are pissing off their own fanbase. Nevermind garnering new fans, they need to keep the ones they have NOW. The whole Jarrett/Zbyzsko/Hebner storyline is the worst angle of the year, it makes no sense and it leads to another Jarrett push that nobody wants to see.

Holly I can see, but Striker no. Striker is going to have a mini feud with the Sandman and job out and then probably get buried. The curious part about Holly was that he was in fact quite over on SD after his return in 2003/2004. An aspect I am digging about ECW is that Heyman knows when to end some of these feuds. It looks like Dreamer/Sandman vs. Knox/Test is over for now, with Balls now likely to feud with Knox and Sandman feuding with Striker. -

I am seriously hoping it's not just DX vs. Big Show next week in a handicapped match. I wouldn't mind the "DX as the security ninjas" bit. But wait....I thought HHH didn't work Tuesdays? I would so enjoy seeing RVD and Sabu perhaps added to the HIAC match. If nothing else via a run in. Thing is, why would they help out DX? Ah screw it, just add RVD and Sabu to it. Can you imagine the sick shit they would do in a HIAC match? I've always wanted to see a Rolling Thunder on top of the HIAC cage. -
It's bizarre but Carlito was really, really bad when he had the IC title to the point where they jobbed him to Flair. Now that he has improved and actually could be a legit IC champ...they move him out of the division. Still, it's hard to say the US title has more significance when the longest reigning US champ since the belt was brought back in 2003 has been Orlando Jordan.

This is weird. I am not badmouthing it because I have to assume this is leading to something else that involves Heyman only minimally at a physical level. After tonight's Raw why do I have a sick feeling this crap with DX will spill over onto ECW? God I hope not. I actually don't think it will, since we all know HHH doesn't work Tuesdays. Let's not kid ourselves about RVD though. He's getting the title back at Dec. to Dismember and not a second earlier.
