    Scary Movie 4

The thing that's always been curious about the first one though is that Scream itself was a semi spoof of slasher flicks. Gotta disagree on Nielsen in the 3rd one however, I thought he had easily the best scenes. I loved the line "These men died for their country....send flowers to their bitches and ho's."

I actually think this Chavo angle could go somewhere and be entertaining. Right now Chavo reminds me of Dean Malenko in 1998 WCW. Shelton can play the part of Jericho and taunt the man on TV every week, saying he's an embarrassment to the Guerrero family, that he ran him out of WWE. Then finally they can have Chavo Classic, Rey, or Vicki, whoever talk to Chavo and tell him he's not a disgrace, then Chavo gets renewed confidence and comes back to kick Shelton's ass and take the IC title. RedJed, I like some of your ideas but not others. If RVD wins at ONS then he needs to have a reasonably decent first reign. We've seen with Orton (and even Edge to some degree) how a brief or crap title run can sabotage careers. I'd think Vengeance will be mostly booked anyway, so RVD can simply retain on that show. Then if they are dying to get it off him, there's SS. But losing the very next night on Raw? Why give away the title change? Why job Van Dam out that soon and hurt his credibility? I do like the idea of RVD winning at WM next year though. Keep in mind the show will be in Detroit, so they can play on the hometown factor (RVD is from Battle Creek, but trained under the Shiek in Detroit I think).

    Scary Movie 4

I watched the first 3 over the weekend and 1 is still by far the funniest. Hell, I laughed more the first 20 mins. than I have the for last two movies combined. I am still wondering when Brenda became this huge slut? In the first two she is Ray's put upon beard of a girlfriend, in the 3rd just a smallish role as a foul mouthed schoolteacher...and in the 4th she's suddenly a complete whore? Seems more like Gail Hailstorm. SM2 has a lot of funny stuff in it, but there are a lot of dated jokes (which is saying something since it was just 5 years ago). The basketball commercial spoof...who cares now? The parrot with the Missing Link line...no one cares now. I don't think the series misses the Wayans' behind the camera, but it seriously misses Shawn and Marlon as performers. Hell, Ray and Shorty account for the majority of the laughs in the first two. How could they think of doing a Brokeback Mountain parody without Ray??
  4. One thing Bret ought to realize is that Hogan was likely working on that SCREWED interview. As in just saying stuff to appease Vince. I bet if Bret actually talked to Hogan about it Hogan would charm him and get him to forget about it.

I don't see HHH winning at Backlash. Given the One Night Stand PPV it just doesn't make any sense. HHH is getting more and more cheers lately and it doesn't make any real sense to go in the totally opposite direction, put the title on him, send him to the ECW show, and have him get booed out of the building. The only guy I can see is Edge, who by default is my pick to win at Backlash. And why the hell did they have to go and do the goofy Spirit Squad vs. RVD match tonight? They had it set up nicely with Shelton losing to the returning Haas and having it be just the IC title on the line. That way Shelton could have gotten a PPV win, then feuded with Haas, and RVD still has the MITB. But now? They have both guys with no momentum coming off jobbing, and they have a match that essentially almost has to be a DQ since RVD doesn't need the IC title (especially with the obvious Shelton/Haas feud now), and yet RVD can't really lose the MITB. I smell a Haas run in at the PPV for a no decision.

    College Hoops: 4/13/2006 - Midnight Madness (10/16/2006)

Rudy Gay just seems like a guy to me. I've seen him play several times and I don't recall a time where I ever was really thrilled. UConn was full of guys like that this year, and that's probably why they didn't make the FF. Whole team of #3 options. After hearing about Tenn's recruits coming in and FL's expected great team next year, do I need to go on another rant about how UK needs to clean house?

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

The Nitros in the first half of 1996 aren't that bad. Bear in mind before the NWO stuff took off there was also the awesome Flair/Savage feud. It was that stuff, not the NWO, that really revived WCW's business. Certainly in terms of house shows anyway.

I bet this week they just have Cena beat HHH rather than Edge. Don't ask me why, but it's somehow just too predictable the other way.

    Cena's heel turn

For some reason I can't see Cena in this match. I listened to an interview with RVD last night and he didn't even hardly mention Cena in terms of a possible opponent for ONS. He mentioned Edge as the guy he wanted to face, that Edge had the most hardcore experience. I'd go with Edge here. Hell, not like having the 2nd short run would hurt his credibility (I'd think having a 3 week title run buries him enough, having a 6 week title reign would be great by comparison). The problem with that suggested Cena storyline is that it doesn't fit him whatsoever. Cena and RVD have had some interactions in the past and the whole ECW thing has never been mentioned. If anything it'd be this cheesy "respect" type feud where both men respect each other and just want to have a good match with the better man winning. It'd be the least entertaining of the 3 options, since either Edge or HHH would likely rant on ECW and do some hilarious shoot style promos.

    Crash=Overrated

Good Night and Good Luck would have been better to me if I hadn't already seen most of the footage in various classes. Having seen most of the McCarthy stuff already, the film was solid but a bit dry and dull. As far as Crash goes, eh. I wasn't elated that it won best picture, but was surprised. I'm not sure what I didn't 100% care for in it, maybe it was that I didn't feel like it had a real center to it. Pulp Fiction for instance has various stories going on, but there are a few key characters and everyone else is subordinate. Crash? It seemed like there were 20 main characters, with few that seemed vastly more important than the others (with the possible exception of Don Cheadle). There were also some moments that seemed very forced and phony. One in particular was the scene with the Persian store owner, the Mexican locksmith, and the girl. It's like it was building to a big emotional moment, but since no one was established as being all THAT important I didn't react.

    Scary Movie 4

Universal didn't do Towering Inferno I don't think...wasn't it a Fox/Paramount co-production. I know Fox also did Poseidon Adventure. Sure, Airplane is an in general spoof of that disaster genre but at its core it is flat out scene for scene the same as Zero Hour (with the parodies added like From Here to Eternity, Sat. Night Fever). Zero Hour is well worth seeing, I mean it's literally the same thing. Ted Stryker is a disgraced former air force pilot, wife is leaving him, poisonous fish for dinner, the deadpan doctor, the pilots. Airplane just adds in the jokes and plays some lines for laughs like "We have to find someone who not only can fly this plane, but who didn't have fish for dinner."

Thoughts on the new WWE talent

I'm not sure what the deal is with Danny Doring. My brother insists he is also in OVW as Deuce Shade's tag partner. They do a 50s greaser gimmick. I'm not sure since it doesn't look that much like him to me, and he's going by some other name.

Thoughts on the new WWE talent

I doubt the UT/Dalip feud will last very long. UT will have one or two matches with this guy and tell Vince how bad he sucks, how dangerous he is in the ring, and that will be that. I may well have seen Osama/Armando's debut with this gimmick. It was at an OVW house show back in November. He'd been down in OVW doing an Arab gimmick as simply Osama, and was a total jobber. I didn't even realize it was him when he came out doing his Cuban druglord/dictator gimmick. Here's a guy in OVW to keep an eye out for in the future: Kasey James. He did this hilarious Memphis heel schtick at that same house show, and now he's also proving he can work face as well. He and Roadkill have the tag belts on OVW.

    Scary Movie 4

Oddly enough, I actually liked Scary Movie 4 better than 3. SM3 had a lot of stuff I thought misfired, like the Oracle/Morpheus stuff, the Architect (basically all the Matrix references). These sort of parodies have become bankrupt in terms of creativity, merely ripping off entire plots and scenes from well known films. The best Zucker stuff is like The Naked Gun, which is a spoof in general of cop movies but there's very little that is just ripped right out of another movie. It's mainly original humor. Or even with stuff like Airplane, yes there are some spoofs of From Here to Eternity and Saturday Night Fever, and in general the airline disaster genre. Amusingly, Airplane is in fact almost a scene for scene remake of Zero Hour, just played for laughs. Thing is, Zero Hour is such an obscure film that nobody ever noticed. Top Secret is a another example. It's a bizarre mix of Elvis musical and WW2 actioner, but aside from a lengthy riff on The Conspirators there isn't flat out stealing from a movie. Again, aside from old movie buffs who would notice?

    Programs that Lasted Too Long

I had no problems with the UT/Shawn feud since it had a couple twists and turns and also a little thing called Montreal in between PPVs. I might be the only one but I thought the whole RVD/Jerry Lynn program lasted entirely too long in ECW. At some point I just got sick of it and wanted Lynn to just WIN THE TV BELT, if nothing else so Van Dam could move on to the world title. Instead they ended up feuding from roughly Living Dangerously 99 all the way to ECW's last PPV. They should have just changed the title in that one awesome TNN match where Lynn had the broken ribs. In fact had Taz not signed with the WWF I think that might have happened...RVD drops the TV title in that match, goes on to beat Taz for the world title at N2R 99.

    WWF in 2000...

I'm confused, how did we start talking about 2002? That KOTR show was such a debacle I think it killed it as a PPV. That and the split. What I remember was that I was so pissed that they had Lesnar win it over Van Dam (and yeah, I knew they'd do it beforehand, but it still pissed me off). I still think that was the single dumbest 1 match booking decision of the post Invasion era. It gave Brock way too much too soon, and started the career burial of RVD that has taken him until this year to recover.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

I don't think Stuart Scott in and of himself has hurt ESPN, but his act has simply grown stale over the years. I used to quite like his teaming with Rich Eisen. When Eisen left though it left Scott without anyone to counter his schtick.

I'm starting to get fed up with this Bonds obsession myself. I was watching Sportscenter just a few minutes ago and what do they lead with? NBA playoff picture? Nah. They actually lead with Bonds going 0-2 last night with a couple of walks, because he surpassed Mel Ott for all time intentional walks by a Giant. I mean seriously, who gives a fuck? The way they opened I thought he actually had a big night, as in hit 3 home runs or something.

    RVD vs. Shelton at Backlash

So last night Shelton Benjamin challenged RVD for the MITB at Backlash, but RVD refused and insisted Shelton put the IC title on the line. Obviously this is going to lead to a match at Backlash but what exactly will the stips be, and who should go over? At this point RVD doesn't need the IC title, yet we know Shelton won't get the MITB (or if he did it'd be brief and RVD would reclaim it). This would lead me to think this might be a DQ finish, maybe Shelton hits RVD with the briefcase or something. But I have a better idea. Next week Shelton should come out on Raw and say "Okay Rob, you don't want to put your MITB on the line. I can see that. But if you want a shot at the IC title you have to do something for me. If I beat you at Backlash you have to give me first crack at the WWE title should you win it when you cash in the MITB." This sets up quite a bit of stuff. Shelton can pick up a slightly tainted win at Backlash. RVD can then go to ONS and cash in the MITB, hopefully win the title. Then you have Shelton right there waiting at maybe Vengeance for his title shot. This wouldn't necessarily be the main event of Vengeance since I'm betting HHH will want another HIAC match with Cena. With this idea it's a good way of elevating Shelton as well as RVD. What do you guys think?

I was amazed Josh Elliot even got his own show to begin with. To some extent I think Cold Pizza/1st and 10 sets the tone, since it is Skip Bayless who goes off on his constant Bonds and T.O. rants. I can't be alone in thinking that the times where Bayless and Steven A. Smith are on the same show is like TV death. It's like watching two ultra annoying assholes to see who can yell the loudest. At least on Cold Pizza there's Woody Paige to counter Bayless.

    WWF in 2000...

I've also never cared either way about the Jericho/HHH phantom title switch. Mainly because I have an aversion for all Dusty Finishes. In the end, Jericho just jobbed and it was forgettable. The thing that sticks out to me most about 2000 is that the heels just dominated the faces and it seemed like the faces just NEVER got the big blowoff. Rock/HHH? Just petered out, never a real resolution. You could say SS 2000 but then things were shifting towards HHH/Angle. The Rock was champ but had nothing to do. I might open up a can of worms with this, but I think 2001 is easily superior to 2000. Sure, the Invasion is widely considered a flop but I think overall the action was superb that year.

WWE match of the year so far?

Why would the Benoit/JBL cage match from SD be any sort of MOTY candidate? It was purely routine stuff. I haven't seen Angle/UT yet so I can't comment on it. Thus far I'd have to go with either Edge/Foley from WM or the MITB. Those Benoit/Orton matches are all snoozers to me, relying way too much on Orton's sleep inducing restholds (Benoit does literally 90% of the decent stuff in all of them).

    RVD vs. Shelton at Backlash

Mainly it would seriously hurt the MITB in that it's not such a well established stipulation that it would be needed if the winner didn't do anything with it. Wouldn't it be nice for the MITB winner to win the title in an actual title match, rather than leave it with Edge attacking Cena impromptu? As far as my Shelton idea, that is for if RVD refuses to put the MITB on the line at Backlash. Kinda like "Hey, if you win the title using the MITB, I want my shot." This doesn't even have to be mentioned at this point, just have RVD and Shelton off to the side discussing terms, then after ONS we can have Shelton reveal what was said (namely that RVD promised him a shot). Better than nothing.

To Honor Bret being screwed in 1997

How exactly can Bret just let it go when Vince apparently cannot? Every time WWE uses this as a finish you know word gets back to Bret even if he didn't watch the PPV or TV show. It's almost like a cycle: Bret can't forget it because WWE keeps doing it, and they keep doing it just to mess with him.
  25. cabbageboy

    RVD vs. Shelton at Backlash

As I said earlier, the better idea would be for Shelton to say "Ok Rob, you don't want to put the MITB on the line. That's cool. But I want something in return. If you win the WWE title after cashing in the MITB, then I want the first title shot."
