If I redid Night of the Hunter I'd get rid of that ultra weak ending it had (as in Lillian Gish rambling about kids and stuff, Mitchum being moved to another jail to avoid a lynch mob). I'd redo The Deer Hunter. I've always thought there was a really solid 2 hour movie in that 3 hour mess somewhere. Cut out quite a bit of that ultra slow and dull first hour, focus a bit more on Nam and the relationships of the guys there, maybe a bit on the training and why they were in the same unit. I'd also move the scene with De Niro hunting the deer to the very last scene....it just seems somehow more powerful that way.

First off, Carlito and Masters need to win the tag belts and have a run before even thinking about breaking up and feuding. If anything their opponents, Kane and Show, are the ones destined for a post WM feud. I'm not sure what Carlito and Masters will do with the tag belts though. How about a feud against the Icon team of Flair/Michaels? Or bring someone up? I dunno. Or have them do what Carlito did with the IC title, which is namely nothing. Either way, Lashley is the obvious pick for this MITB slot. It's a battle royale too so he can look really strong by tossing a bunch of guys. As I said, who else makes any sense?

In other words the Big East actually has FIVE teams since BC is really a Big East team masquerading in the ACC. I said all year that the best team in the Big 10 would finish about 5th in the Big East. Well, today the Big 10's best team got owned by the 4th-5th best team in the Big East. I don't think Nova/G'Town would rock in the Elite 8, but I saw them play earlier this year and it was a ho hum affair. Nova/Florida however? That'd be great. I wonder how Nova would stop Joakim Noah?

Will you guys PLEASE drop this shit with Carlito and the MITB? I recall briefly seeing him on SNME but it wasn't anything even worth noting. It's got to be a battle royale of 20 SD guys I would think. Besides, who says the Lashley/Finlay feud can't continue through WM anyway? It's not like either guy is going to win the MITB, so there won't be any real resolution.

Leena, WVU can so beat Texas in that next round. I saw them play early in the season and WVU had it won until Pittsnoggle decided to choke at the FT line. I vowed if they played again I'd pick WVU. Man, UK brought it today. Where was that team all year? Is it just me or is UConn really not all that much? I have seen them twice against U of L this year and now against UK and they didn't look like an awesome team in any of those 3 games. The sad thing is that UConn now has a blatant walk to the FF. Washington is a decent team but hardly FF caliber, so they should get by them easy enough. And Wichita St. or George Mason in the Elite 8? Are you kidding? I kinda want one of them to get to the FF though, it'd be funny if nothing else. By the way, Bradley baby! I didn't have them beating Pitt, but lord was that ever hilarious.

Dude you are thinking WAY too much about this. The battle royale is simply a way for Lashley to get back in the MITB match after Finlay screwed him on SD. Nothing else makes any sense.

Surprisingly? Bored, I know what you mean. Every year on Saturday I am always tortured with some boring Duke squash of an 8 seed. I am sick of it and demand other games start at this same time so I can avoid this crap. Do any of you recall that hideous Duke/Seton Hall squash from a couple years ago? I went 24/32 in the first round. The stuff I missed were some of the 7/10 and 8/9 games, also I didn't call Michigan St. or Nevada going down (not that I thought either was worth a shit or going past 2nd round). I also had that bonehead Iona pick over LSU, which is the only one that could fuck my bracket badly if LSU goes beyond the next round.

If you go back to the beginning of the thread I think I called that Bradley upset of Kansas. I knew Kansas wasn't much, and likely was still getting over the Big 12 tourney. That said, I wouldn't call the MVC a power league yet. Wichita St. killed a shitty Seton Hall, but SIU got maimed by WVU today. Also, that G'Town vs. N. Iowa game was one of the worst games in the history of the universe. I'm glad to be rid of some of these ultra stale major teams though. Let's face it, did the world really need Kansas going anywhere, or Michigan St.?

That SD St./IU finish was one of the weirdest in history. In fact I think that idiot from SD St. was worse than Chris Webber. Let's face it, all Webber did was stick the dagger in his team when they were already behind anyway. San Diego St. was AHEAD in the game when retard thought IU hadn't touched the ball. When that happened I flat out knew IU had to win it. Anyone else think that could be one of those lucky as shit breaks that leads to IU going places?

I have sucked so far. Only 4-3. The Nevada loss was puzzling to some extent but I only had them jobbing out to BC anyway. It's these fucking 7/10 games that kill me every year. I had Seton Hall for some truly moronic reason, mainly because they have at least beaten a few decent teams. They looked more like the team that UCONN and Duke killed rather than the team who beat Pitt and Cuse. Oh and the Bama/Quette game hurt a bit since I had Marquette. But I hate them anyway so fuck em. Is it just me or was that game WAY too good? 90-85 for those two? I figured it'd be more like 60-55.

How do you think I feel? I have BC in my damn Final 4! Thus I am put in the bizarre position of needing BC to win for my bracket and yet I really don't like BC (I think they are thugs quite honestly) and wanted Pacific to win. Not sure what I was thinking taking Seton Hall, cause they got the shit kicked out of them earlier by Wichita St. Ah well, at least I could rely on OU to fuck up, but then I think everyone with a lick of sense had UWM in that game.

I can see the possible reasoning behind bringing Jim Ross back. Maybe they aren't happy with Styles, maybe it's a one time deal, I dunno. But Austin? Why in the fuck do they waste their time bringing him back all the time? The guy has become a complete joke caricature of himself and frankly I have zero desire to see him. Sure, he'll come out and guzzle beer with Bradshaw....what does this prove? Does it add a single buy for WM? No, JBL is facing Benoit so shouldn't JBL be better served doing something to hype THAT match? If this leads to Austin costing JBL the Benoit match...why? Would Austin really give that much of a shit about Bradshaw that he'd run in on his WM match? One truly baffling thing to me is this: Why is no one from the MITB match even on this show? They waste time with this JBL/Austin drunkard shit but they can't be bothered to hype one of the few matches people will care about? I think they should have at least done a 6 man tag with the 3 Raw guys vs. the 3 SD guys. That is of course if SD had its shit together and actually HAD its 3 guys.

Ripper, I actually do think stuff like violent streaks can run in a family. Maybe it's not scientifically proven (or maybe it is?) but it's more of a common sense type deal. The ending was great. I mean, what exactly is she supposed to do? I personally think that at some crucial point her love for him, be it Joey or Tom, took over and she stayed. Hell, Dama. I've badmouthed the Pac 10 as well this year, but ironically enough I do have some of the teams advancing. UCLA is in my FF in fact, mainly because they don't even have to leave the state to do it (I have UCLA over Pitt in that regional final....the refs will flat out screw Pitt to keep them from stinking up a FF if need be). I have Cal losing to NC St. but that could go either way. I picked NC St. because I've at least seen them some this year, whereas Cal seems like a nonentity. I have Washington going to the 2nd round and losing to Illinois, though I thought about the 5/12 upset with Utah St. And I have Zona over Wisconsin mainly because I want an actual decent 2nd round game (Zona/Nova) rather than have to endure the Baders making another unwanted March run. I've talked about the MVC in here quite a bit but when it came down to it only had the balls to have 1 MVC team advance, and that would be Bradley over Kansas. The MVC is just a bunch of JTTS type teams, and I think even a Big East jobber like Seton Hall can take the MVC reg. season champ Wichita St. I might be wrong, we'll see.

It's not stupid hate, Dama. Pitt DID just send Allan Ray to the hospital in the Big East semis. How many quality wins does Kansas really have? I know they beat Texas in the Big 12 finals, but they also got smeared by 25 in the previous matchup. Most of their wins have been beating up on a bunch of Big 12 jobbers. I know for a 100% fact that they won't blow Pitt out, and do they have the experience needed to win a close one?

Here's why: Even if Kansas gets past Bradley (which even though I have Bradley as a joke, KU should get past them) they'd likely get Pitt the next round, and they ain't winning that one. Pitt is far too physical and experienced...hell they'd send someone from Kansas to the hospital.

Iggy finally said some stuff that makes sense to me. LSU is one of the singularly most unimpressive 14-2 teams from a major conf. I've ever seen. These guys lost to friggin Houston and Northern Iowa at home, struggle to beat total gimps like Ole Miss, etc. Look deep into this....can you guys REALLY see JJ F'N Redick's last college game being a loss to LSU??? Beware of Iona in that game, I'm telling you. Steve Burtt is the #3 scorer in the tourney behind Morrison and Redick. It's a hell of an upset pick. Also, I don't get this love for Kansas. They beat Texas in a pointless conf. final about an hour before the committee announced the bracket. I'm just trying to figure this out. The Big 12 is shitty this year, I trust no one from it to go anywhere. Though oddly enough I have A and M in my Sweet 16, since I have them vs. Iona in round 2, haha. I have OU and KU both out 1st round, and I have Texas out to WVU in the Sweet 16.

Gotta love Matt Hardy getting into the MITB after a Dusty Finish DQ win over Animal. At least I read that somewhere, not sure if it was on those spoilers but it was on Meltzer. Lashley will still find his way into the MITB somehow. Maybe in another qualifier next week or at SNME, I dunno. Or gee, maybe Teddy can help a brother out and just add him a la Rey. Let's take a look at these MITB participants and how they got into it: Flair: Beat Carlito with a hand on the ropes. A slightly dirty win. Shelton: Beat Chavo with an Orton run in. Very dirty win. Finlay: Hit Lashley win his club. Dirty win. Hardy: Dusty Finish DQ win over Animal. Lashley: If he gets in, it'll be after he already lost and will seem like a filler choice. RVD: Beat Trevor Murdock clean in the middle of the ring. Thus, RVD is the guy I think should win it.

Memphis is a curious team really. We know they can put some beatings on jobbers. We know they can hang with the big boys like Duke, Zaga, Tennessee (if they're a big boy). But there are some bizarre efforts from them this year, like that Marshall game where they trailed before rallying in the 2nd half. Or beating Rice by 5. What's funny is my brother's reasoning is also that Oral Roberts is way too good to be a 16 seed. Oral Roberts seems to me more of a 13-15 type team. For there to be a 1/16 upset there will have to be a truly lame duck 1 seed and I don't really see that this year. It'd have to be a total joke 1 like Purdue in 1996.

Dude, my brother is actually taking Oral Roberts over Memphis. I tried talking him out of it, but he seriously picked it. You know what's insane? He's not alone! Today on Cold Pizza, Skip Bayless also predicted Oral Roberts over Memphis in the first 1/16 upset. Just wondering but how is NC St. over Cal any sort of upset? Throughout the year NC St. was ranked much higher than Cal. 7/10 games aren't really upsets anyway.

Rrrsh, you misunderstand. Edge's insane, blatant no selling at Summerslam 2002 flat out killed that match with Eddie. It had been a solid match telling a story of Eddie working Edge's shoulder. Then at the finish Edge simply uses his BAD arm/shoulder and spears Eddie for the pin. It negated the entire match, which is why it goes beyond mere no selling. By the way, RVD did in fact sell his shoulder in primo fashion against Chris Jericho at Unforgiven 2001. Van Dam's no selling mainly entails someone working his leg ad nauseum, since a lot of his offense revolves around using his legs. Last night Shelton worked his shoulder some, but due to the Flair run in we don't know if it was going anywhere.

Malenko had the great singles match with Scotty at Backlash but I also remember the brilliance of his efforts in the No Way Out 2000 match against Too Cool and Rikishi. He just was such a dick in that match. On a loaded card I went away thinking how awesome Malenko was in that match.
