    Worst film you've ever seen

I'm surprised Gerry hasn't been mentioned on here again. Dear God what was THAT? The Hulk was a total piece of shit too. And yes, Boogeyman was one of the worst movies I saw all last year. In Maltin's book he actually gives Boogeyman ** while giving Sin City *1/2. Crediblity, thy name is Leonard Maltin. The worst movie I've ever seen in a theater though? One Man Out, a really crappy "soldier of fortune in South America" type movie. I saw it at Stonybrook theater when it first opened in 1990 and I STILL hate the theater because of it. The tagline for that movie: "If you're not on his side...change sides!"

    Super Bowl XL

I don't know how good Seattle is on the road or neutral sites, but I do know that the Steelers can certainly play on the road. I'll take them by about 10 points. And yeah, this has been possibly the single worst playoffs in history. Hell, there have only been two games decided by single digits...one of those was an awful shitfest (Skins/Bucs) and the other was certainly exciting but produced a heatless Super Bowl team. Let's face it, the Steelers getting there would be like if the Jets had won that game in Pittsburgh last year and gotten to the Super Bowl.

U of L is just reeling right now. I was worried this was going to happen, simply because I knew we were highly overrated to begin the season. The frustrating thing is that U of L could be pretty solid if Dean wasn't constantly hurt. He was supposed to carry us this year. But right now? Just 1-3 in Conf. play with an assbeating from UConn upcoming, and then at Rutgers, at Nova, Cincy twice, at UConn, at Cuse, at WVU. I mean hell, we'll be lucky to beat DePaul and Marquette.

    RAW rating for 1/16/06

I actually think Edge's title win has in fact sparked interest in the product. It was a real "Holy Shit" type moment. Yeah, he's kind of a sleaze but he does have longtime fans who are glad he finally won the title.
  5. Frankly, I think the only reason Chavo was brought in during the Invasion from WCW was due to Uncle Eddie. HHH vs. Edge just makes no sense at all. What does Cena do in that instance? A Hogan match is a political scare since you know Hogan will want to go over there (and given Cena's reactions of late, I can't say I blame him). I almost agree with that line of reasoning with the Cena/Hogan tag team vs. Show/Kane. It lets Hogan work with 2/3 guys he wanted at WM (Cena, Show). Regardless of whether RVD goes against Edge or is in a MITB type match or does whatever at WM, they can't fuck him up again. They just can't. When he gets back he'll be perhaps the only guy on the roster that will be getting a consistently big reaction. One could argue before that there were other guys who were considered "bigger stars" that were also mega over. But right now they have a "top" face that's getting trashed by fans, Michaels (who gets the "respected veteran" cheers, but isn't really near his peak anymore), Angle (who gets the You Suck chant and also cheered during his matches). Really the only other truly effective face is Rey, and it's mostly because he's so small that it's easy for him to get sympathy heat when someone beats him up.
  6. Actually, there really wasn't any sort of plan to have Edge use the MITB at NYR. It was simply decided the night before and they told Cena the day of the show. I didn't think they had any plan for Edge beyond using him as jobber bait at the Rumble to get the MITB off the books.

    NFL Conference Championships

The Steelers under Cowher have lost so many AFC title games it isn't funny. Now they get a Broncos team undefeated at home this year and the end result will likely be the same. I'll take Denver by 7 or so. It's awful tough to win 3 straight road playoff games. In terms of the Seahawks/Panthers, I'm not sure. I think it'll be really close but the Seahawks are also undefeated at home so they should scrape by with a narrow win.
  8. Well on PWInsider.com the Angle/Benoit match had 42% of the vote on possible WM matches for Angle. For Edge, RVD was leading the vote with 35%, Shawn was 2nd with 18.5%. ChrisMWaters, I agree big time on the HHH/JBL match. They need some sort of Raw/SD matches for WM and that one was to some extent already set up last year. Let's face it, HHH vs. Cena is an idea dying a horrible death and HHH vs. Edge simply makes no sense. How the hell can HHH suddenly turn face after all the truly evil shit he's done lately (Beating the shit out of Flair repeatedly, attacking Big Show and breaking his hand, etc)? HHH won't be over as a face anyway. In fact I dare say HHH right now is in a bit of a pickle and might need to screw someone over and hold people down. It's going to look bad if he turns face and then a returning RVD is getting obviously bigger pops. Conversely, Edge is a hot heel at the moment so if HHH stays heel he'd have to play 2nd fiddle to Edge. The simple solution of course is to send him to the depleted SD roster, but as we all know HHH doesn't wanna do it.
  9. Aren't they going to a lot of trouble to put HHH in a WM main event considering he's not even currently in the picture? He doesn't even have a logical opponent and I think we all know he won't draw shit as a face.

    Edge's good matches

Yeah Edge is a very solid performer when in the ring with someone that's a great wrestler. I've always called him The Blank Slate since he literally is a blank slate that depends on the level of his opponent to determine how good the match is. If he's wrestling an excellent opponent (Eddie, Angle, etc) there's a good chance the match could be excellent. Put him in with the A Train or the Big Show and it likely would be a tedious affair. I'm not saying he has to be carried all the time to a great match, but I've yet to see him really carry anyone himself.

    OAO RAW Thread for 1/16/06

I checked out the Unlimited stuff and Cena got this shit booed out of him after Edge attacked him during the Masterlock. They cannot, and I mean cannot, just take the belt off Edge. He's getting over well. I'm thinking Cena/Hogan for WM.

    OAO RAW Thread for 1/16/06

I was terrified of Carlito's promo tonight...I thought they had forgotten that RVD feud. Here's hoping Rob comes back and squashes him in less than 5 mins. to blow that nonsense off. Cena got cheered a bit more tonight but it's still a fairly lukewarm reaction. Girls are cheering him, but I think a lot of guys have just said "Fuck it, I don't care anymore" and aren't even reacting at all. Hell, RVD got as big of a chant for him tonight and he wasn't even there. It's kinda wild that people here are simply assuming Cena is simply going to win the belt back at the Rumble, when nothing on the show would indicate that. Look, this is Edge's first run with the title. They can't just simply job him out 3 weeks after winning it. The PPV promo said something like "The Rated R Superstar's reign has begun! Edge vs. Cena at the Royal Rumble!" Cena also got no mic time tonight, in fact he honestly seemed like an afterthought. Frankly, I'm digging Edge as champ. If ratings hold well or even rise like last week, why take the title off of him? Anyone else notice that HHH wasn't really doing much tonight? He seems to still be dicking around with the Big Show, which frankly doesn't bode well for his chances at the Rumble (people with vendettas tend to not win, they eliminate each other).

    How old is Fit Finlay?

Hell, I've been checking out all this old school AWA stuff on the 24/7 and it's all a bunch of old guys beating the crap out of each other. It's not until a guy gets up in his 50s that he seriously starts getting that old man look.

That RPI is moronic. How can anyone justify the ACC or SEC being ahead of the Big East in RPI? The ACC has turned into Duke and a bunch of JTTS type teams, none of whom I'd think would last past the 2nd round (maybe NC St. could be Sweet 16 at best). The SEC is utterly putrid, with no one but Florida even in the Top 25. The Big East is just insane. I took a look at U of L's upcoming schedule and it's all UConn, Nova, Cincy twice, Syracuse, WVU....just insanity.

    *Smackdown Spoilers*

I'm surprised more people haven't ask the following: What is this shit with Mark Henry? Does anyone have any type of possible explanation for why they would put him over Rey? It's common knowledge that Henry is going to be released later this year, so isn't this horribly counterproductive to put him over ANYONE on your roster? No really, can someone please explain the logic here? I'm telling you...they aren't going to release him. They'll probably think there's a big money feud with him vs. Batista when Dave gets back.

    TLC this Monday Night

I quite liked the TLC won by Kane in terms of the match itself. It was the utterly horrible HHH/Katie Vick stuff in the aftermath that gives people a sour taste. I maintain that Cena's popularity first started to decline when Christian called him out constantly and Cena did nothing. Fans listened to Christian and started believing him, at least I think so. Cena fit in with the more ghetto nature of Smackdown, and as I've said before he mostly feuded with guys the fans had no respect for. No matter how stale Cena was can you see fans turning on him for the likes of JBL, Carlito (although that has happened recently!) in that US title feud, Rene Dupree, Kenzo Suzuki, etc.? Change him over to Raw and put him against some guys the fans actually find credible and it's a different story. Even as jobbed out and heatless as Jericho was, he still has fans and they cheered him over Cena. The fact that Jericho still had about half of that SS crowd, despite being booked like a jobber, speaks volumes.

    TLC this Monday Night

Here's the thing with Cena. Could it be that fans like him as a guy on the show, but think he's a joke in terms of being a world champion? I also noted that without the belt his reactions improved last week. Thing is, if they just put it back on him again what does that really do? Fans will go back to hating him again. We need a rest from Cena in the main events.

    College Hoops: 1/2/2006 - 1/15/2006

Conference tourneys are for the most part idiotic, especially for major conferences where the league is going to get 5 bids anyway. I never said a conf. opener against some jobber is as important as a title game of some sort, but a 3 game conf. tourney isn't anywhere near as notable as a 16 game conf. schedule that shows who is clearly the best. Who cares if Maryland upsets Duke in the ACC tourney when they simply go out and lose to Syracuse the 2nd round? To compare UK title teams, I'd say the 1998 team was in some ways more satisfying since they went 14-2 in the SEC, won the league, and won the conf. tourney with ease. However, the 1996 team would have beaten that bunch by 20.

    NFL Playoffs: Divisional Round

Did I ever say I thought the Broncos would beat the Colts next week? They might have a shot at the Steelers, but that would be a very tough game even at home (and the win differential doesn't even matter here, I think Denver is +137, Pittsburgh +131). I said Denver would beat the Patriots about 27-17, and it ended up being 27-13. I swear Pats fans are the most deluded people I've ever seen. There's clear evidence that Denver is simply the better team this year, for certain in Denver. They beat them twice. In a 7 game series this year Denver would have had home field and won the series in about 6 games.

What the fuck is up with Kurt Angle?

Why does everyone assume Angle is a face now? He still has Daivari with him (who is a loyal slave) and there is really on point in turning him. Angle has NEVER made a decent face since he always has had a natural smarm about him. He'll be the de facto face vs. Mark Henry but then after that he'll drift into tweener territory. I'd put him against UT at WM since that'd be the biggest draw. I'm not sure why everyone wants Rey main eventing since he's simply not believable as a world champion. When people can say "I could kick this guy's ass" he's not a credible threat to the title. See Credible, Justin.

    TLC this Monday Night

If they really do this it means one thing to me: Edge retains at the Rumble. The main way I thought Cena might regain the title was via the Flair run in, thus setting up an Edge/Flair blowoff at WM. If Edge simply beats Flair in this TLC match (which he certainly should), that feud has nowhere else to go and Edge needs to retain at RR.

Matt hardy trying to get fired

I disagree on the RVD comparison. For a variety of reasons I think they'll have to push RVD in 2006. He's certainly done nothing like Matt to provoke the Wrath of Vince. One reason to keep RVD strong is the ECW PPV...if they job him out constantly it hurts that show. Matt will probably just get fined a bunch of times. Hell, I bet they keep the title on Edge for a long while just to spite him.
  23. Well yeah but Joe Don wasn't the same character by any means. I think the line of reasoning with Leiter is that nobody really cares about him anyway so they can just sign some dude off the street to play him. Hell, in the unofficial Never Say Never Again Leiter was suddenly black (Bernie Casey). Personally when I think Blofeld, I think of the Donald Pleasance Blofeld as the definitive Blofeld. I also liked Telly Savalas and the one he was in was one of the best Bond movies (On Her Majesty's Secret Service). By the time Charles Gray played Blofeld with hair and somewhat of a drag queen, I think it was due to him getting surgery and having doubles to evade Bond.

    NFL Playoffs: Divisional Round

Jesus, what is it with all the Colts hate on this board? The Colts haven't hogged the playoff spotlight like SOME teams, they usually don't goon star players like others I could mention, and they usually play an exciting brand of football. By the way, if Denver played Seattle or whoever in the Super Bowl, that would be one of the most heatless Super Bowls ever. Not that those are bad teams really, but seriously, who gives a fuck?

If you think Miss St. was really the SEC Champ in 1996, you're on drugs. UK went fucking UNDEFEATED in the league. Conference tourneys don't mean shit unless you need it like the small leagues do. Of course Duke will squash Va Tech in Blacksburg, Va Tech has their attention now. What the hell are we arguing here exactly? Look, UK in 96 absolutely assraped Tim Duncan in the Elite 8 and he's one of the best ever. I think they could find a way to shut down the mighty J.J., who chokes in the tourney anyway. As far as Texas goes, I have no idea what they were doing in the Duke and Tennessee games. Dama, is Buckman really THAT critical to their success that when he is hurt they get killed by 20-30 points?
