  1. Hey, with Batista hurt they might add JBL to the mix...you never know. God I hope they don't take that as an idea. Since Orton came over he's at least beaten Benoit, Rey, UT, etc. Eddie hasn't beaten ANYONE all year, so yeah I can see storywise why Orton would be a contender above him. Orton's main problem is that I think he seems lost half the time in the ring when asked to go on offense, and then uses nothing but headlocks until it's time for the face to make a comeback. Watch the Rey match from this week, Orton was so outclassed there. Just cause you give a guy 15 mins. every week for a match doesn't mean he deserves it or has anything to say in that 15.

Yeah I remember the Eli game where Ole Miss should have beaten LSU but their shitty kicker missed 2 FGs, and LSU went on to win the nat. title. I think if Eli wins that one he might have gotten the Heisman, but I think he'll be ok with 40+ million bucks to fall back on. It's funny to bring up these intense SEC rivalry games after I mentioned a totally heatless Rutgers/U of L game. I have no idea what Rutgers was doing....Louisville is hardly a rival, in fact we hadn't even played them in 20 years. I mean good grief, U of L beat them by 51 with Michael Bush hurt.

    College Hoops: November

I'm with you on that. I don't see why Texas is so hyped considering they lost the 1st round to Nevada and don't really have a drastically different team. I also like OU over them in the Big 12, at least they are tough. Not particularly skilled, but tough. Anybody think Bobby Knight might get past Dean Smith this year? He's averaging 22 wins a year at TX Tech and needs 25. If not this year, early next year. And by the way Memphis won't remotely go undefeated even in the shitty CUSA. I think UAB will be decent enough to beat them at least once. And hasn't UTEP made the tourney the past couple years too? I think they might beat Memphis.
  4. I'd just simply have Batista come out and say "I'm hurt, so I vacate the title" and then Long just makes it Eddie/Orton for the belt. If they're going to put it on Orton they might as well put it on him here, because there is no magic feud that will get this guy over on the horizon. I'd put it on Eddie personally, possibly because he knows more than a fucking HEADLOCK. Seriously, does Orton do anything besides a headlock anymore? His matches are like that Sting/DDP match from Nitro that sucked.

    Batista out indefinitely

Nah, Sid was a much better wrestler in his prime than Heidenreich could ever be. Hell, Sid from 1990-93 was a very solid big man type. I have no idea who they'd put the belt on here. I'm thinking they'd put it on Eddie with a UT return to cost Orton. But then Eddie won't even defend at Survivor Series since he's already in the big tag match. Besides, after the times Orton has cost UT a match I figure it's time UT cost him a match.

Yeah and I'd rather take UT because they've never been dumb enough to keep the belt on him for 9 months. If he got it again it'd just be a little transition run to let him go out in style. I mean UT has held the belt from: Nov.-Dec. 1991 (like two weeks) March-Aug. 1997 (not quite 5 months) May-June 1999 (maybe 6 weeks) May-July 2002 (2 months or so) In other words, there's no real chance they'd keep the title on UT any longer than necessary.

In that case I'm hoping for Va Tech then. I was there when U of L beat FSU in 2002, so it'd be kind of a been there, done that proposition. Just have to squash a couple more jobbers in Cuse and UConn and then we'll be in that game (I hope). I only hope USF doesn't somehow win out and go to the BCS, thus knocking WVU down to the Gator Bowl and putting U of L in some shit bowl no one cares about.

FFMS, just wondering but could U of L play Texas Tech in a bowl game by any chance? If I can't get the U of L/ND matchup due to ND being in the BCS then I want something else that'd be cool, and Tech vs. U of L would be a wild, high scoring affair.

Did anyone get the new Observer yet?

I actually mentioned the Sexton bit in another thread, maybe the TNA folder somewhere. Just wondering but why would all these guys want to go to TNA? They have 1 hour a week that few people even bother to check out. Their show is rushed enough as it is without adding more and more guys that will need TV time. And the guys that go there will fall into one of two categories: 1. Those who job to Jeff Jarrett in the world title division. 2. Those who job to AJ Styles in the X division.

Excerpt from the upcoming HBK book

I was about to say, that is a great pic that should be the DVD and not the cheesy 1987 picture of Bret where he looked like a punk.

Well, I think I called the U of L unmitigated assrape of Rutgers. I predicted something like 65-10, but it was 56-5. Those dumb fucks actually trampled on the Cardinal logo at midfield before the game. Apparently they didn't remember when Cincy did that shit last year and left with a 70-7 maiming. You do NOT fuck with the Cardinal at midfield. Why is it these lame jobbers like East Carolina, Cincy, and Rutgers try to stomp our logo? Can't we get someone credible to piss us off?

Worst excuse to get out of a job/angle?

Jericho is a moron then. Never ever actively WANT to job in a match, unless it's something like Benoit insisting on jobbing to Bret in the Owen Memorial match. Jericho insisted on jobbing in a match that had a detrimental effect on his career.

    OAO Smackdown Thread For 11/11/05

I can't see how Orton could beat Eddie for the title soon considering Eddie is on the Survivor Series team and with Batista out Orton is the likely replacement. By the way in that Series match I insist on Lashley absolutely murdering Carlito. Maybe Masters too in a battle of roided up dudes. Of course then he'll go down to Sweet Chin Music, but you can't have everything.

It wouldn't really shock me if Edge decided to leave. The guy is in that position to where he can't really get much higher on the card as a heel for various reasons (like HHH) and due to the Matt Hardy situation nobody would buy him as a face. Add in him being injury prone and he's constantly stuck in that level right under the main event. Perhaps he wants to join Christian?

T.O. suspended for the rest of the season

Thank you, Kahran. Everyone always gets fooled into believing Denver is going to do anything. I'm thinking with all the road games they have left they're going to lose 3-4 more games this year. Hell, if the Chiefs and Chargers have a nice second half Denver might not even make the playoffs.

Vyce, let's face it. Deep down we all know that UT is going to get the title one more time before he retires. Hell, my friend Chris has blathered on about this for the past 2 years. That said if they do put it on him they can't just have an absentee champ, he'd have to actually show up for work. As far as what I would do, I'd put it on Eddie. I'd put it on Eddie, you'd put it on Eddie, we'd all put it on Eddie. But will THEY put it on Eddie?

T.O. suspended for the rest of the season

Why is Denver all of a sudden an elite team? They'll finish with their usual stale 11-5 or 10-6 before getting waxed in the 1st or 2nd round. In the AFC I think the Colts, Steelers, Bengals, Jags are all more dangerous come playoff time.

Lushus, what exactly would this perfect scenario for Orton getting the title? Cause frankly I can't think of anything that would rivet fans. About the best that could be hoped for is a "Well, it's better than Bradshaw again" type result. If this UT deal of "The beginning of the end" means he is retiring soon (who knows?) I might just put the belt on him one more time till right before WM and then go from there.

To be honest does Smackdown really have anyone that doesn't carry some sort of baggage? If UT was there full time I'd almost put the title on him since he's really the most credible guy on the roster storywise. Everyone else has either had a recent title run that sorta tanked or isn't really ready yet.

Worst excuse to get out of a job/angle?

You've pretty much analyzed HHH's run from 2000 to now. He'd job in pointless matches like to the Brooklyn Brawler or someone, but of course when it came time to job to Chris Jericho he wasn't feeling it. And of course he jobbed to Shelton a few times but really where did that get Shelton in the long run?

    Batista/Cena switch

I already explained that in another thread. Raw this week was in Ft. Wayne, IN. Fans in the areas like KY, IN, etc. tend to go with the flow and aren't as smarkish. I think it goes to having grown up on old school Memphis stuff where you cheer the face, boo the heel. It also helped Cena that Angle did every trick he could to get himself over as a heel.
  22. He probably ought to take that down, since it gives a false impression (?) that he'll be at the PPV when he's not...at least I don't think he is. His previous TNA mention on the site was a fun little bit of business but it didn't flat out say he was coming.

    College Hoops: November

Speaking of Arkansas why would UK vs. ARK be a major game? Arkansas won't be all that much, UK should win by double digits there. I'm curious to see what Memphis does this year. They are ranked quite high for a team that didn't even make the tourney last year. I know they have the talent to be a top 20 team, but are their heads on straight?
  24. cabbageboy

T.O. suspended for the rest of the season

I wanna see T.O. go to Atlanta so he can badmouth Vick for being an errant passer and also bring up the obvious "Ron Mexico" business. Either that or Minnesota.

Paying the dues is something guys need to do in the wrestling business. If it's someone like Kurt Angle with an extensive amateur background with gold medals, that's an exception since he could dominate anyone on the roster in a legit match. I know Lashley was also an amateur but his accomplishments aren't on that level, nor Lesnar's (though his were closer I'd say). Even if you don't call it paying the dues, how about just calling it "get to know this dude" time where he toils in the midcard for a while and develops a following? I will admit guys like Flair and Benoit having to pay dues is idiotic since they were established veterans.
