MNF for Nov 7: Colts vs Pats

I know the Jags have a cake schedule but I repeat: They cannot score. When you cannot score frequently it puts you at risk against jobbers like the Texans, such as this week where the Jags barely won. They'll probably lose a couple more, likely to Indy in the rematch (Indy won there last year) and maybe to the dreaded Texans in the rematch. The Jaguars are not such a great, dominant team that they can simply dominate anyone. Even if the Jags have a sterling 2nd half and go 7-1 the Colts simply have to go 5-3 or so to easily win the division.

Yeah, I just assumed Bischoff cleared it with Teddy offscreen. I doubt Long would mind having a cross promotion main event for his show this week, most likely with his guy maiming an injured Edge. Smackdown has looked much better than Raw in this feud thus far. The main problem with the whole scenario is this: What difference does it make? It almost has to be booked even so that neither side is shown to be a jobber show. Almost reminds me of the NWO Hollywood vs. Wolfpac angle. Having heard the rumor of Cena losing the title at WM to HHH I have to wonder....how is that a good idea? You're going to have your main face hold the title for a year and then have him lose it to a heel on the big show. That makes zero sense.

Does anyone, and I mean ANYONE besides 4hartthreat think Jacksonville will run the table from here? Dude, it's the friggin Jaguars. They aren't all that good. They'll finish their usual boring 10-6 or so. Yes, they are a rough, physical team but they can't score for shit and that will always cost them a few games they should win.

The Colts not winning the AFC South? That's fucking retarded. They've got that division so locked up it's not even funny. They have maybe 3 tough road games left, at Cincy, at JAX, and at Seattle. The Chargers and Steelers both have to go to Indy and I think the Colts can win both games. And yes, I too thought of the goofy scenario of the Colts losing to Denver in the playoffs..but gimme a break. Denver is the single stalest team in the league. The Colts would once against squash them by 3 TDs.

Yeah the only real negative of Raw last night was the baffling continuation of the Carlito push. It's funny that Carlito is trying to get over as a serious wrestler and is disregarding the Cabana since the Cabana is the only thing that got him over! It certainly isn't his god awful ring work. Also, it makes Shelton look doubly worse since he keeps jobbing out to Carlito after Carlito gets squashed by Foley, loses to the FIGURE FOUR twice, etc.

Let's see, here are HHH's Series results: 1995: UT squashed him in a survivor match. 1996: I think he lost in the survivor match that the Rock won. 1997: Did he even wrestle? I think he was mainly just with Shawn doing the screwjob. 1998: I think he was injured. 1999: Lost the title to the Big Show. 2000: The bizarre no contest with Austin 2001: He was hurt. 2002: Jobbed in the Elimination Chamber 2003: Jobbed to Goldberg 2004: Lost the survivor match that Orton (?) survived in.

I'm amazed anyone would think the Pats have a hope in hell of beating anyone in the playoffs. If Miami gets anything going they might have a shot at that division. Keep in mind that the Pats now have to go on the road to play the Dolphins, which isn't a gimme. I am proud of the Colts, but not that proud of them....after all they just did what the Chargers did to NE. So we now have the Pats getting the shit kicked out of them, Eagles getting their asses kicked and dumping T.O. What is this, the NFL trying to not be stale as shit?

Tonight showed some desperation....maybe next week they'll have Kurt spit on the flag and shove down a few old ladies in the crowd (not Moolah/Mae)? You also have to remember where this show was taking place. Ft. Wayne, IN. Places like KY and IN are very traditional fans, not terribly into reading the net sites, etc. Old school USWA territory: Cheer the faces, boo the heels. A good example recently was during the whole Matt Hardy debacle...at a house show I was at Edge had a match and maybe 3 guys were chanting "You screwed Matt!" The rest of the crowd had no idea. I'm not entirely sure what I think of Styles yet. There's something anachronistic about it, but I'm not sure why. People act like the guy has some crisis over putting over John Cena....I mean the guy put over Justin Credible as a world champ in ECW, so I hardly think pimping Cena or Chris Masters gets him down.

T.O. suspended for the rest of the season

Vick and T.O. isn't a good idea. Once Vick has a few games where his passing isn't so hot T.O. will be badmouthing him just like McNabb. Favre is really the only one I can think of since I don't think even T.O. would come into Green Bay and put the mouth on Favre. Not unless he has a death wish. To be honest though, a part of me kinda wants to see him in Minnesota. It'd be amusing if nothing else.

Worst excuse to get out of a job/angle?

Regardless of a grudge they were nuts not to play off of the first Elimination Chamber. I mean one guy almost killed another in the ring. Surely you can make money off that SOMEHOW. It might have required a double turn or something.

Is there really any spot for the McMahons on Raw right now? I can maybe see Vince introducing Styles tonight, though it might get him some unintended boos when they need him to be supported by the fans. I'd rather them just open up with Lawler and Styles there and just go with it. Otherwise there's really nowhere else for the McMahons to go. Cena's issue is with Bischoff, not them. Oh and I thought Shawn was leading the Raw jobbers at Survivor Series against Smackdown?

    John Cena

Kane getting 38% at Taboo Tuesday was hardly a mandate to put him in the main event again. Hell I voted for him mostly because I hate Shawn Michaels and did it as a protest vote. I don't think anyone actually voted for Kane seriously, it was either in protest to Michaels being so blatantly pushed into that spot, or as a joke.

    It's Hammertime!

Well the thing is I doubt very many people are sitting at home thinking "Gee, I wish Greg Valentine would show up on Raw soon." There's no demand or interest for most of these guys. Some like Vader are old hasbeens, but why bring back never was types like Koko B. Ware? I mean I used to like the guy back when I was 9 but he WAS a total jobber and hardly any sort of legend. That's my biggest problem with the legends thing. Most of these guys aren't even legends. Ricky Steamboat is a legend. Greg Valentine? Decent journeyman, but that's about it.

    Weekend boxoffice Report Nov 4-6

I just looked on imdb.com about Claire Danes and it said she was banned from the Philippines for making derogatory comments about the country. It doesn't say what the comments were but I'd be interesting in knowing.

I'm not sure where the McMahons fit into any of this. With Austin not around and JR apparently history I'd just have Styles show up and announce the show and that's it. If they have Vince introduce him it might start the crowd booing Styles, which isn't what they need.

    John Cena

Angle has already dicked around with Kane in the past to somewhat ok but not all that memorable results. It also doesn't help that Kane is stale as month old bread. And in the tag division at the moment. Any way you wanna look at it, it's a mess. I'm telling you, when RVD gets back they ought to go for it and push him, since he'll be undboutedly over when he returns. At this point Raw just needs someone who isn't 1. Stale and 2. Actually popular as a face. Also, if Styles sticks around to announce Raw you know he'll pimp Van Dam like there's no tomorrow. The Michaels idea isn't too bad either, but I'd go with Angle as a temporary fix since he's already feuding with Cena and Michaels just lost at Taboo Tuesday. I'm not 100% how HHH would fit into this...I know he'll want the title again at some point but unless they go with the ill advised HHH/Cena match there's not a real storyline with him in contention.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread

I don't necessarily believe this. I mean here is a guy who masterminds everything to the exact degree. Would he really leave his own fate in the hands of whether Mace Windu would kill him or not before Anakin turned? Would he also disfigure himself horribly unless he was getting his ass kicked? I think Mace beat him in the duel and as others said the Emperor played up to Anakin and thus the heel turn.

    OVW Results Thread...

Well I haven't seen them on TV but I did see the Rigg Bros. at an OVW house show on Friday. They wrestled two Scottish Highlander dudes and also Doane/Beast. They won the match. They seemed decent enough, their boots, trunks, and hair all reminded me of AJ Styles. How sad is it that I probably enjoyed the OVW house show better than a Raw house show I went to with a Cena/HHH main?

Worst excuse to get out of a job/angle?

He is right, RVD didn't work WWE style and frankly that's a good thing in my book. The Angle stuff with his wife badmouthing RVD was late in the Alliance angle, it had nothing to do with HHH in 2002. It's interesting that Angle's wife (and Kurt himself) ranted on Van Dam since those matches were really cool. The hardway blood if anything added drama to the matches, as was Kurt's hardway suplex where Rob landed on his neck in one of the matches. As an aside I'd quite enjoy an RVD/Angle feud when RVD gets back. It hasn't been done in a long time.

    WO Newsletter news and Notes

Chave! allow me to explain a bit about OVW of late. Since Heyman took over there has been a big increase in backstage interviews and skits with Maria interviewing Jeter, Kennedy, Cappotelli, etc. This week they introduced an annoying new backstage guy doing interviews (this guy was the announcer at an OVW house show I just went to actually). It makes for involving TV but I can see why people in the Davis Arena would be annoyed after a point. Under Cornette most of the interviews and stuff were in front of the crowd at the desk or in the ring.

    John Cena

There really isn't a good way to go with this. Personally I'm thinking they need to just put the title on Angle and then go from there. They can still do Cena/HHH at WM if they want, though I'm not sure who would win that one (maybe HHH, setting up a Cena heel turn?). But if they put the title on Angle, who would he face? He's already faced Michaels and HHH both 100 times. Having HHH beat Cena is a horrible idea, mainly because it's another situation where Cena would get soundly booed and on top of that buried by his opponent. I'm talking Randy Orton at RR 05 level buried here, and add in boos.

Worst excuse to get out of a job/angle?

2Gold, that's bullshit. Yes, RVD busted some guys open upon his arrival to the WWF in 2001, but he hardly put anyone out of action for a length of time. It was just bloody noses, busting guys open hardway. Also, by Sept. 2002 when he was feuding with HHH Van Dam had almost totally stopped busting anyone open or stiffing people. The whole "The guy is sloppy and dangerous" argument was feasible in Oct. 2001 when they could have put the title on him, but not by late 2002.

    NFL Week Nine

The NFC as a whole is a total clusterfuck this year. You have the Giants, Falcons, Panthers, and Seahawks all at 6-2. After that maybe the Cowboys and Bucs at 5-3, though I can't help but think the Bucs are fading fast with Chris Simms. To be honest of those top 4 I have no idea who is the best of that group. I'm hoping for the Giants vs. Falcons as the NFC title game, but somehow I have a feeling due to experience that the Panthers might go far.

This Week in College Football 11/1 - 11/5

At the end of the day the BCS will always be retarded for this reason: Teams can go undefeated and not have shit to show for it. I defy anyone to counter that simple argument. Last year you had USC, OU, Auburn, and Utah all go undefeated in the reg. season. I mean yeah you had OU out of the way after the 55-19 beatdown but Auburn and Utah finished unbeaten. How can anyone conclusively say USC was the best team when two other teams never lost? People like John Saunders blather on about the reg. season being an elimination itself and the BCS is wonderful, etc. He just ignores that simple fact that some teams don't ever get eliminated and get fucked anyway. Also, why is everyone assuming Notre Dame is going to the BCS? Sure, they played USC tough but they also lost to a Big 10 JTTS in Michigan St. Are they supposed to pass over every team with 1 loss? If they do miss out on the BCS I'd love to see U of L play them, what a crazed 55-52 game that would be.

    John Cena

I agree on Michaels, he's not really a #1 type face anymore. Putting the title on him again might be ok in a short term scenario but it'd be putting the title on an old dude. The other really over face on the Raw side would be RVD when he returns. Whether they actually push him is another matter.
