The unexplored aspect of this is why are they even bringing back Mark Henry? Has anyone besides me wondered why they would want to do that? It's just weird. The guy's contract is up next year and only a retarded crackhead would dare to try to sign him again. I figured they would just keep him on the shelf until his contract was up next year and release him.

What happened to horror movies on Halloween?
cabbageboy replied to Failed Bridge's topic in Television & Film
Why is anyone shocked? Look, AMC SUCKS nowdays. It has sucked ever since roughy Halloween 2000 when I recorded Supernatural (with Carol Lombard) and found that they had gone to having a commercial break. That was like some disillusioning moment in my life, I swear. Dammit, whatever happened to the AMC that used to show old RKO shit from 1932 that no one has ever heard of? -
I don't think they are tanking Smackdown of late. In fact SD has been quite the enjoyable show. I think even Raw will get better now that they've gotten this McMahons/JR/Austin garbage out of their system. Hell, seeing a Goldust/Vader beatdown on Batista was oddly amusing as long as Batista hands them (and Coach) their asses tomorrow.

Say what you want but I think Dusty Rhodes has helped Smackdown a lot. Dusty's main problems as a booker mostly used to revolve around him carrying out his own agenda to put himself over (and thus make Flair look bad). Dusty however does understand basic wrestling principles such as two guys fighting over a title, creating various divisions and adding depth to those divisions, etc.

The goofy thing is that they have risked burning a bridge with Austin and sabotaging their WM main event over an angle with JR, Coach, and the return of Mark Henry. What's also horrid is that as I figured they wasted the past 3 weeks on this idiotic JR is fired angle, gave it more TV time than anything on the show that might actually DRAW MONEY (Cena/Angle, HHH/Flair) and also had one of the worst segments in history with the Vince hospital skit.

You know this might sound bad but it almost reminds me of WCW circa Souled Out 2000.

Maria is a goddess. Hell, I've thought of maybe going to some OVW shows in the odd chance I'll meet her after the show (she's the interviewer on there too). I'm only afraid she might not be the sweet, innocent doll she is on TV, and might in real life be a bitch or something.

Anyone else find it funny that the Smackdown guys are among the only ones to leave this show with any dignity intact? Yeah I know Christian quit but he isn't doing anything notable anyway, so it's no biggie storywise on Smackdown. Raw is such a fucking disaster area right now. I mean the big money match they were setting up in Austin/Hogan is now in serious doubt. Their world champion is getting booed more and more by the crowd and almost needs a heel turn, yet all the booking points to him going against HHH at WM. Just a mess.
-
I agree with about half of that, Ripper. Losing to Brock via an Eddie run in wouldn't have hurt Austin much at all. Brock was at least credible and getting pushed hard, and with a run in I don't think it would have ruined a future Austin/Brock match. But the Coach? Mark Henry run in? Austin losing in ANY way to the Coach is a retarded idea.
-
If you're Vince would you take a chance and bring Austin back again? Cause after him walking out twice under not wanting to job circumstances I'm not sure I'd book him for WM. What if he's booked to job to Hogan (which after tonight I think is a given) and then he says fuck it and no shows a WM?
-
I actually agree that they probably should have just rigged that particular vote. It would have given Vince and Coach more heel heat for having done so (only on THAT match, not the rest of it). Then they could dick Austin over in a debate, etc. I didn't really agree with Austin walking out in 2002, because at least they were going to job him to a guy they were going to push to the title in Lesnar. It was a silly idea doing it on free TV, but I think if Austin had stayed they could have worked out a double DQ or countout finish. But this time? I don't blame him. Hell when I heard the plans for tomorrow I thought it was insane. You can't job out Austin to the Coach in ANY fashion and then put him against Hogan. I don't know if they'll bring Austin back now, but if they do he actually will have done them a great favor by nixing this idea.

I don't see Michaels winning here. I'm not sure why but they can't just do a title change on a shitty, nothing PPV like Taboo Tuesday that maybe 10 people will order. In some perverse way I really enjoyed this Raw tonight. It was at least WCW level car wreck type bad rather than offensive "Vince pulls stuff out of JR's ass" level bad. I mean Vader and Goldust beating down Batista after Austin walked out? At least Goldy got some kind of build coming out from Coach...Vader just came out of nowhere and then fell on his ass! I laughed at that for a good 5 mins. Raw is such a surreal car wreck right now. They are setting up Austin vs. Hogan in theory, but Austin walks out. I don't really blame him for not wanting to job to Coach though....I mean what kind of sense does it make to build to Austin/Hogan and have Hogan go over Shawn clean while Austin jobs to a 3rd rate announcer? If Austin does in fact come back for that WM program with Hogan I can assure everyone he's jobbing though. Second, why do they think Cena vs. HHH is a good idea for WM? Right now Cena is getting more heel heat than HHH is, judging by the crowds of late. I said it after Summerslam and I'll say it again: Moving Cena to Raw is a very bad thing for his career. The fans didn't turn on him on SD since he was often facing guys the crowd had no respect for (Carlito, JBL, Suzuki/Dupree). Once he gets on Raw and starts facing talented workers like Jericho, Shawn, and Angle it stands out how stale he is, how mediocre a wrestler he is, and thus the crowd turns on him. I noticed the sign tonight: "I want RVD." Also noticed "I miss Christian" and then Christian shows up, haha.

What happened to horror movies on Halloween?
cabbageboy replied to Failed Bridge's topic in Television & Film
Halloween 3 is one of the worst movies ever made. End of story. Flat out sleep inducing. 4 is probably the best of the later sequels. I think TCM is having some Hitchcock stuff on tonight, Psycho is on now. Not exactly HORROR though. Personally I'd suggest getting the Universal box sets of Drac, Frank, Wolfman, Mummy, etc. Also the recently released Val Lewton collection. -
Yeah but the NFC are just so much jobbers. Nobody in the entire conf. looks like a serious threat to win the Super Bowl. That said, I think the worst division is now a tie between the NFC North and the AFC East. As far as the Packers points scored vs. allowed remember they did have that insane squash of the Saints for the lone win and that skewed their stats.

I don't think Christian should be brought in to job to Jarrett, but I think that is likely what WILL happen.
-
They are retarded if they go through with such a premise. Nevermind the JR stuff, Coach, etc. If Austin is going to wrestle Hogan at WM he absolutely CANNOT go around jobbing to a fucking 3rd rate announcer like the Coach. I mean that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Why even bring Mark Henry back? I mean his contract is up next year, so why even do this? Just leave him at home and then next year release his ass. What if by some deal with satan he actually gets over this time and they sign him to a new deal?

Rudo was that Austin's speech in his ECW debut? I doubt Christian ends up starting another huge wrestling boom with TNA the way Austin did but there are some interesting parallels: --Both guys were in highly over tag teams and impressed people in that role. Then those tag teams were broken up. --After the tag breakup both guys had fairly mediocre singles runs with matches consisting of a couple of decent spots but mainly restholds. I actually dare say Austin was nowhere near as over as Christian when WCW depushed and fired him. I just hope TNA can figure out Christian isn't another WWE hasbeen like the Road Dog or Billy Gunn, and that they can actually do some decent stuff with him.

Who Was Screwed Over The Most This Year?
cabbageboy replied to The Niggardly King's topic in The WWE Folder
I voted for Christian because he was the one guy of the 3 mentioned that actually was getting over on his own merits. Hassan was garbage anyway and I never wept a minute for him being released. As far as Shelton goes, the jury is still out on him. If he's released a year from now or has no upward mobility then he'd win this vote next year. -
I'll believe him in TNA when I see it. The fact is aside from the FL connection (Tampa-Orlando) for Christian what exactly is his incentive to work there? Sure, there's less travel but also much less money I'd think. And not to sound cynical but him going there just means at the end of the day he's jobbing to either Jarrett or Styles. In short, I think Christian should have thought this through more. They had their chance to push Christian this year and blew it. I can see why he felt the need to quit but he's going to end up costing himself a lot of money for very little career advancement. I don't see Christian being a guy who can bring all sorts of viewers to TNA. In fact there are really only two WWE guys that I think could fit that bill: Chris Jericho and Rob Van Dam. If TNA could sign either of those guys (Jericho perhaps but I think RVD has a new contract with WWE) then I think TNA can rise a bit in popularity.

If there was one PPV that defined WCW...
cabbageboy replied to CBright7831's topic in General Wrestling
Going back a bit, JBL is someone who has zero credibility with a lot of fans, so him saying Raw is a cut rate B grade show blurs in with his other garbage like being a wrestling God. The problem is that someone who could make a statement about Smackdown being good is Batista and he badmouthed the show himself about 6 months ago. The defining thing about Raw/SD is when have you ever seen anyone drafted to Smackdown that seemed GLAD to be there? They do angles like Booker being pissed at being sent to the shit SD brand, etc. The only guy I can think of who seemed at all happy was RVD, he cut a brief promo saying he was Mr. Thursday Night now and was stoked about being on Smackdown. No one else has ever shown any joy over being on SD. -
Hell, at least the Eagles have the common decency to just flat out suck and get squashed by people. I wouldn't have any problems if the Patriots would win a game LEGIT for once. As in just going out and beating someone for 60 mins. and being the better team. I mean tonight they were totally outplayed by the Bills and yet I just knew the Bills would fuck it all up. At least the Pats got an actual TD instead of what I figured would be the outcome (namely Brady drives them to the 30 and we get the eyegouge inducing Vinatieri FG to make it 17-16). They can thank Kelly Holcomb for being crappy and fumbling the game away.
-
Oh fuck this. Everyone, and I mean everyone on this forum that is not from the northeast needs to beg the Colts to squash these fucks once and for all next week. This garbage isn't even funny anymore. I can't even begin to describe how important that game is. Colts beat their asses....Pats are 4-4 and pretty much a non threat. If the Pats win they go to 5-3 and look more and more dangerous for another unwanted playoff push.

Nah, it won't fall that much. The #5 movie this week made just over 4 million...you're expecting Saw to fall from 30 million to roughly 5 million in 1 week? It'll probably make somewhere between 10-15 million next week.
