In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

German fools who are looking for a tax writeoff, which according to another thread might not happen anymore since Germany is changing their tax code. This actually looks a lot better than Boll's other movies, hell at least the cast sounds interesting.

    Bret Hart or Ric Flair

The weird thing is that around this board I'd say 1992 is a very well liked time period in wrestling. I think the main problem financially for the year was post WM they lost a lot of star power and the post WM feuds were all really horrible and cheesy. Stuff like Warrior/Shango and UT/Berserker had no potential to draw money. I dare say 1992 is my favorite year in wrestling, but I guess that's mainly because I got back into it again after not watching for a couple years.

If there was one PPV that defined WCW...

Eddie and Dean had kind of an off night on that show though. At least I thought so. WM 3 had a lot of nice stuff on it though, quite a few matches that either have a fun little angle or occurrance, nice *** type matches. I never even entertained the idea of getting Starrcade 97 at the time. The concept of buying a WCW show was laughable to me at that point (though ironically the first WCW PPV we did get was Fall Brawl 98--one of the worst shows ever). The funny thing is that quite a few of my friends got this show and were all stoked for it....and I've never heard anyone talk about how much they liked the show.

    TNA Genesis PPV

Sabu vs. Abyss...I might actually want to see this show for that match. I might actually have this be a crazed draw or maybe even have Sabu win, though Abyss would win the blowoff at some point.

    World Series-Astros vs White Sox

Dear God, first Super Bowl was Niners/Chargers...amazing you'd still watch the NFL. I can vaguely remember a lot of stuff circa 1989 or so, like the Earthquake series, the 49ers/Bengals Super Bowl, etc. That said, the first Super Bowl I ever remember being seriously interested in watching was maybe Cowboys/Bills (52-17). Amazing I watch the NFL after that one. Bulls/Suns was also the first NBA Finals I was hyped for. As far as my teams go it's been a while for U of L. Last national title in 1986, though I was delirious after beating WVU in the Elite 8 this year to get to the Final 4. I was very happy for UK when they won the title in 96 and 98...yet somehow it's not quite the same.

If there was one PPV that defined WCW...

What exactly were people expecting out of Starrcade 97? Only the Eddie/Malenko match and maybe Benoit/Saturn without silliness had any real potential to be worth a damn. Hogan/Sting was always going to be a shitty match, ditto Bisch/Larry Z. Some might have anticipated DDP/Hennig but honestly can anyone name a really good Hennig match post 1993? Wrestling wise the show was always going to suck. The bad booking only made things worse. That said I kinda enjoy the show for some sick reason...it's kinda like watching Rome at the height of its decadence.

    World Series-Astros vs White Sox

Just wondering but has anyone ever gone through all the rounds of the playoffs without a loss (since the Wild Card I mean)? The White Sox came within 1 game of being perfect in the postseason and that was a one run loss to the Angels. Just an amazing run considering some people thought they might choke and not even make the playoffs. This doesn't have the same feeling as last year though. Perhaps it's because the White Sox didn't really beat anyone notable in the last couple of rounds, whereas the Red Sox beat the Yankees and Cardinals. Let's face it, the Angels and Astros don't have a lot of notoriety. There also wasn't much in the way of a curse discussed, but then the White Sox doomed past isn't really sympathetic like the Red Sox. Mentioning the thrown World Series in 1919 and the Black Sox isn't the best way to hype this team.

    Kristanna Loken In BloodRayne

Uwe Boll is much, much worse than Ed Wood. Wood movies at least make sense from scene to scene, unlike most of Alone in the Dark.

    World Series-Astros vs White Sox

Hey, at least if the White Sox close this out tonight we can at long last have a champion who actually WON THE DIVISION. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the concept of "White Sox winning the series." It's just too weird.

    Bret Hart or Ric Flair

This is actually a pretty tough question. The easy thing to say is Flair here but if you really want to look at Flair's peak years the NWA was getting its ass kicked by the WWF. Not that it was really his fault with the Dusty booking and all that, but the constant pushing of the Horsemen without them ever really getting theirs is a notable reason Crockett went bankrupt. Flair actually only had the WWF title from Jan. 92 till WM 8, so it's tough to blame him for the post WM blahs when business tanked. It was Savage who had the title then. That said the answer is still Flair. Bret was never really ever THE MAN in the WWF aside from maybe 1994 (by 97 they were gearing Austin up for his run). I would note though that Bret easily outdrew Flair when both had the title in 1994.

    The Real Smackdown Spoilers

The Rey/JBL pairing is idiotic because it's asking people to vote for JBL when there's no way in hell anyone would. Thus if he won that vote it'd be blatant that the voting was rigged. Rey winning is obvious since the PPV is in his hometown and all, but Matt is likely the other guy due to the Edge feud anyway. And by the way, if fans ARE saying stupid shit about Smackdown sucking bad WWE has only themselves to blame. Every week they have the Raw guys poke fun at SD for being the B list show, Bischoff said how crappy they were, etc. Do this long enough and fans believe it, much like in WCW when the NWO constantly said how lame and pathetic the WCW guys were.

    Future WWE Main Eventers

Maybe Joe needs to gain more weight then? Get up to 400 lbs. or so and then he can get a push in WWE.

When I saw this thread I thought it was going to be Kordell Stewart.

    Spoilers For This Saturday's Impact

For TNA to make any dent in WWE they have to be notably better for a seriously long stretch of time. When you go around putting the title on Rhino and then giving Jarrett his fifth title run it doesn't exactly scream out "This company is so much better than WWE!" TNA needs a flukishly great storyline like the NWO, some sort of really notable "Stand up and take notice" type storyline. Having a lot of generic, bland cruiser guys going out and busting it out is fun for hardcore smart fans, but is it really going to drastically increase ratings on its own? Not really.

    Future WWE Main Eventers

I actually was about to say "Joe has a good look?" The dude might be a great wrestler but he looks like a sorta fat, out of shape Samoan. Long term: 1. Ken Kennedy 2. Bobby Lashley 3. Ken Doane Those are the guys who have debuted recently or haven't debuted yet that can get over. As far as RVD goes, maybe I'm just being optimistic but I think he will get maybe 1 decent push or run on top. After all, if they are doing another ECW One Night Stand PPV then he will most certainly main event that. Besides he'll be coming off an injury and will be super over when he returns. If there was ever a time to push him, this would be it.

    The Real Smackdown Spoilers

Ken Doane in a dark match! Bring him in and feud him with Lashley. At least that's what is going on in OVW, so there'd be some continuity. What, no Boogeyman? The sad aspect of them saying "This is why Smackdown sucks" is that SD is easily the better show right now. Is it just me or is this Eddie face turn a bit....strange? As in people aren't sure whether to cheer him because he seems like he might be a heel anyway.

If there was one PPV that defined WCW...

Starrcade 97 was a bit of a goof but I don't think it killed the promotion or anything. It might have caused some initial frustration though. I've said it before: WCW was killed big time in between Spring Stampede 99 (their last excellent show) and Slamboree 99. I even narrowed it down to one specific Nitro that to me just killed my interest in WCW as a viable promotion. It was the show where DDP lost the title to Sting and then won it back in a 4 way at the end of the show.

    Spoilers For This Saturday's Impact

Putting the title on Rhino was a silly move anyway. It really didn't accomplish anything other than devalue the title by hotshotting it around when it wasn't necessary. Everyone keeps hyping Monty Brown but whenever I've seen TNA the guy just doesn't do much for me. Is he really either 1. All that over or 2. A decent enough wrestler that putting the title on him is justified? I'm not saying I wouldn't do it since TNA needs to push someone viewed as homegrown, but is he the guy? I'd put the title on Abyss. He at least seems cool and marketable as a dominant heel, but I doubt Double J would stand for another main heel.
  19. Has anyone noticed that they are extremely reluctant to job anyone out to Cena that's worth a crap? Since Cena won the title he really hasn't gone over anyone with any serious heat or credibility. Just JBL and a jobbed out Jericho. Hell, they don't even really want to job out Angle or Michaels to him.

    OAO Taboo Tuesday Voting Thread

Here's what I just voted on wwe.com: 1. Kane, just to fuck with them (Yes I know Shawn will win). 2. Mysterio and Matt. 3. Submission 4. Debate, just to see Austin's rhetorical skills. 5. Mankind, hopefully circa 1996-97 6. Cheerleader

Favourite story from a Wrestlers book?

That Randy Hales story is funnier if you were a fan of old school Memphis/USWA stuff and know who he is. He's a really scrawny, tall dude that looks slightly retarded. In other words he had zero business badmouthing anyone's ring efforts. Another Foley story that's funny if you know the guys is his recollection of Eric Embry booking matches in the nude, with his dick in everyone's face in the lockerroom. Then said he was never the same after Robert Fuller came down to Texas and showed everyone why he was the Tennessee Stud, haha.

I'd have to say Bash at the Beach 96 here. But I was thinking of good things WCW did and not screwing up.

    NFL Week 8

Predictions: Arizona at Dallas: Cowboys gotta get off the snide and will do so here by 2 TDs I would think. Chicago at Detroit: I am amazed that the Lions are .500. They won't be for long. Cleveland at Houston: Cleveland gets a narrow road win over the hapless Texans. Green Bay at Cincinnati: Isn't getting any easier for Favre. Bengals by 10. Jacksonville at St. Louis: The Jags so do not rock my world. Is Bulger out the rest of the season? If he is back I'll take the Rams. If not, Jags in an asswhooping. Minnesota at Carolina: Don't get a swell head, Vikings. Panthers by like 21. Oakland at Tennessee: I have no idea. Two jobbers. I'll take the Titans since they're at home here. Washington at N.Y. Giants: Good one here. I'm thinking Eli gets it done again as the Giants win at home by maybe 7 or less. Kansas City at San Diego: SD desperately needs a win to avoid going 3-5. They'll take this by about 7. Miami at New Orleans: (Baton Rouge, LA): Dear God. I'll take the Saints to finally get a close win. Philadelphia at Denver: Philly has been WAY too lucky. Denver by 10. Tampa Bay at San Francisco: Tampa in an assrape. Buffalo at New England: Patriots in an beatdown. Monday, Oct. 31 Baltimore at Pittsburgh: Steelers will beat down the Ravens. This will be a man's game.

And my love for wrestling has just died...

Exslade, I assume you are talking about Jillian and her mole in terms of the birth defect on Smackdown? There's a big difference in teasing a chick a bit over an obviously phony facial attachment and making fun of Jim Ross for having a very real colon surgery.

The OAO RAW thread - 10/24/05

I'll explain the subtle difference between tonight and Katie Vick. Yes, I know stuff like necrophilia exists. But there isn't anyone actually named Katie Vick that Kane killed in a car wreck who then had her dead body molested in the funeral home. It's too farfetched and thus to some extent can be filtered as being fictional nonsense. Of course it was the worst thing ever to air on Raw until tonight. There actually IS a Jim Ross however and he did in fact have a serious colon surgery. It's nothing to make fun of and even if Vince wanted to what point does it make? To me, if I'm a legit announcer it'd make me less likely to ever want to work for WWE, seeing as whatever medical problem I might have could be fair game for ridicule on TV. And Vince wonders why no legit broadcaster would touch WWE with a 10 foot pole.
