Yeah I am mystified at the suggestion some are making about the Colts running the table this year. Take a look at that 2nd half schedule...at NE, at Cincy, Pittsburgh, at Jacksonville, San Diego, at Seattle. If anything they'll be lucky to better last year's 12-4 mark.

They had plenty of matches on house shows but never a big PPV match. It's kind of mindblowing really that they never did that match and cashed in. But then it would require either 1. Jobbing out Flair right as he debuted and killing his heat. Or 2. Hogan jobbing, which he probably wouldn't want to do.

I agree. His god awful heel turn and the ludicrous push he was given way beyond his level of talent or credibility just soured the fans. I think the point where I truly started getting disgusted with him was when he dicked around with Jericho and Jericho couldn't beat him! Jericho was an ultra hot newcomer at the time and here he was fucking around with the fucking KID??? Also, he actually beat Kane in that long running feud which was disgusting since everyone else of similar size was getting killed by Kane. And of course his truly awful, stale tag team with the Road Dogg. Add up all these things and by 2001 people wished he would just get released.

Astros vs. White Sox. Could any sick bastard possibly come up with something worse than this piece of shit World Series? Anyone care to come up with something more heatless, horrible, and featuring two teams that people either 1. don't care about or 2. flat out hate? We all have two choices: Root for the Astros in hope that Clemens, Biggio, Bagwell, etc. can finally get a ring and retire and then they'll suck from then on. Or we can root for the White Sox to end their 80+ year curse and get the rings, and then suck from then on. I am getting nostalgic for the Marlins vs. Indians.

Here's some predictions: Detroit at Cleveland--Lions seem a bit better so I'll go with them by about 7. Green Bay at Minnesota--MN is BAD, real bad. Packers have mostly lost tough games, so I'll take them here as the lesser of two evils. Indianapolis at Houston--Colts usually have a tough game in Houston for some reason, but should prevail here against the hapless Texans. Kansas City at Miami--KC to get a decent road win here. New Orleans at St. Louis--Rams should get back on track in a wild, high scoring affair. Pittsburgh at Cincinnati--Big game for the Bengals. That said it's a bigger one for the Steelers, so if Roethisberger is healthy I'll go with them in a very narrow win. San Diego at Philadelphia--Eagles should get back on track as poor SD becomes the best 3-4 team in history. San Francisco at Washington--Redskins make every game interesting but should win here in easier fashion. Dallas at Seattle--Good one here. If this was in Dallas I'd take the Cowboys but it's in Seattle so they should win a tough contest. Baltimore at Chicago--What did the world do to deserve this? Bears since they have shown some signs of decency. Buffalo at Oakland--I have no idea how the Bills are 3-3, but if Moss is out they might well win here. Denver at N.Y. Giants--The Broncos SO need to come back down to earth and they likely will here. Eli does his brother a favor in the AFC home field race. Tennessee at Arizona--Bleh. I'll go with the Titans since they've been better of late. Monday, Oct. 24 N.Y. Jets at Atlanta--Falcons should win here but closer than expected.

Somewhere in there I found something I agree with, rawmvp. I don't think the goofy looking 6 sided ring will ever get TNA anywhere. There's just something about it that gives me a jolt on a basic level. I'd like for TNA to get a better timeslot as well, but not head to head with Raw. It won't work. In the long run it didn't work for WCW and they had a couple of decades of TV following.

Bear in mind that they released Daniel Puder recently, the guy who beat The Miz in every one of the TE contests. Why call up Cappotelli and keep Jeter down in OVW? It seems like to me they are just pillaging OVW's roster at the moment and debuting all these guys on Smackdown.
-
Well, isn't it already booked for next year? I'm not entirely sure what they will have on that show though. I'd imagine they'd want to feature RVD in the main event of it but who would he wrestle? Sabu is with TNA. Rhino as well. Jerry Lynn I think is but who knows. In short there aren't a lot of guys from ECW out there. I want some New Jack on this show however. And maybe some Dean Malenko.

I think people on this forum have a higher opinion of Shelton than WWE itself does. There's nothing in the past couple of months of storylines that would lead me to believe Shelton was 1 of 2 contenders in that battle royale last night. There's nothing to lead me to think Shelton would be on a Raw team at Survivor Series. The guy has been buried and is currently feuding with white boy Chavo on the internet Heat. Let's face it, if you are on the net version of Heat or Velocity that is the same as being dead. And yes I saw Carlito's attempt at a cross body off the top. Hell he damn near tripped doing that. Steamboat he is not.

The Colts have to beat the Pats SOMETIME. I mean the past few years the Patiots have simply had the better record and been the better team. Is there any harm in a team that is 12-4 losing to one that is 14-2? That said if the Colts are about 14-2 this year and they lose to a 10-6 Patriots, then they are embarrassing and jinxed.

No one can click with Carlito. Look, as long as they have this bizarre hard on for giving Carlito most of the offense the guy will remain unwatchable. Carlito is the sort of heel who should be getting his ass kicked 80% of the match before either jobbing or pulling out his bogus wins. Also, Carlito's matches don't build to anything. This is due to his inexcusable lack of a finish. All matches have to build to something, there has to be a threat of a guy's main move. Carlito has no move. Jake Roberts was never an amazing wrestler but his matches all had a dramatic tension due to the fact that he could nail that DDT on someone at any time. There would be teases of the spot, etc. In other words, Carlito cannot tease a lethal finisher (which even Chris Masters can do) by going for it, he has no submission finisher so he can't work a body part. In short, he's fucking putrid.

The Colts score doesn't surprise me tonight. The Rams might not be any good anymore but they can still put up numbers against most anyone. I forgot what I predicted this would be but I think I said something like 45-31. In fact here's my exact words from page 1: "MON, OCT 17 St. Louis at Indianapolis--No upset here. It'll be a wild track meet though, a blast to watch. Colts are clearly better though, so it'll be about 45-31." It's funny though, when the Colts were down 17-0 I didn't for one minute think the Rams had any shot to win. I just thought "Well, time for Peyton, Marvin, and Edgerrin to earn their money now." Anyway, the Colts will almost surely squash the hapless Texans next week before the bye....and then likely be 7-0 going to Foxboro. If you don't know what will happen there, you haven't watched football the past 5 years.

Well if it goes 7 the Cardinals can always use their Clemens killer: JEFF SUPPAN~! You know what's weird? I knew if Pujols got up in the 9th he'd do exactly what he did. There's just some cognitive dissonance involved in the Astros being in the World Series. I can't resign myself to this fact, and thankfully after tonight I won't have to for at least another couple of days. That said, this series now seems like the 86 Angels/Red Sox series mixed with a hint of Cubs/Marlins with the Astros now having their two aces going in 6 and 7. Thing is, the Cubs fucked it all up at home. Pujols is God. A-Rod, Vlad take note. That's a fucking money player.

Just wondering but in the actual buyrate number what would 50,000 buys mean? I know ECW's PPVs used to do something between .20 and .26 or so. I'll probably get this PPV and invite some people over.

This Raw tonight was so horribly misguided on every level. They literally spent the majority of the show blathering on and on about that money drawing babyface JIM ROSS??? I mean, yeah I feel sorry that the guy has (sort of) lost his job but here's some reality: Jim Ross draws not one fucking dime. He does not wrestle (aside from the odd occasion to punish him). He does not add to PPV buyrates by announcing the show. Hell, he doesn't even add to Raw's ratings by announcing the show. No really, I took a look at the late 98-early 99 period when Ross was sick and Michael Cole took over. The ratings actually increased from roughly 5.0 to 6.5 by WM 15. In other words, while fans might not have liked Cole for shit and wanted Ross back it doesn't really MATTER to anyone who announces. Bear in mind while they blathered about Ross all night they ignored the WWE champion the whole show and he's the guy you're supposed to hype your show and PPVs around. Does anyone have a clue what the Raw bookers are doing or how any of this is supposed to draw money? Smackdown might have really tired feuds like UT/Orton, but at least they have feuds.

Hacksaw was only on that WM for maybe a match though. Then Heenan came back and it was all good.

The people who would book the Astros vs. White Sox in the World Series are the sort who would book Mabel vs. Savio Vega as a KOTR final. I think sometimes certain games can be rigged. One that stands out to me is the NFC title game with the Rams/Bucs that time. The refs basically screwed the Bucs there, mainly so the world wouldn't have to endure that shitty Shawn King led Tampa team in a Super Bowl. Given the Titans' enjoyment of low scoring snoozers from time to time a game with the Bucs would have been a fiasco. The Rams got in it though and we had, you know, a good game. Is it possible to be a fan of both the Cubs and Cardinals? I'm from Louisville and always watched the Cubs on WGN and all that, but the Cardinals used to have the AAA team here in town. Either way it means I hate the Astros.

Yeah I remember Val being managed by Trish for a while in 2000 well before RTC. It was after he lost the IC title I think. The RTC basically killed the heat of anyone associated with it.

Still, Matt will be on a show now with Uncle Eddie. If anyone can teach him the art of picking up a skank in a bar and knocking her up, it'd be Eddie.
-
So I have to listen to Cole twice this week, huh? Oh joyous day. "Not this way! Not this way!"

The sad thing is that WVU isn't any good particularly, just a JTTS destined to get killed in the BCS game they go to. You know what's sad? U of L had them flat out beat until we gooned their QB and they put in the backup and started doing all sorts of wild option style stuff that NO Louisville team has ever had any clue how to defend. I don't care what year, what coach, anything....U of L has never defended the option for shit.

Slayer, wouldn't the horrible, unspeakable irony for the Colts be if they finally beat the Pats in the playoffs and then lost the AFC title game to Denver (the team they have annihilated the past two years)? The Broncos will come back down to earth a bit. I'm predicting 11-5 or so, slightly up from their usual boring 10-6 post Elway years. Colts/Bengals is a fun AFC title game prospect. As far as the NFC goes, I have no utter idea. It's like a whole conference of mediocre 3-2 teams.

And she's Laurence Harvey's daughter. I just read an article about the real life Domino and it sounds like a can't miss film prospect. I'd almost entirely blame the shitty trailer for this tanking.

Well, one thing I don't particularly care for about TNA is the actual look of the show itself on basic levels. I preferred the old Nashville shows since it had a more gritty venue that seemed like a more polished ECW Arena and of course because they had a real ring and not this 6 sided thing. In regards to TNA are there any actual storylines going on right now aside from the Jarrett/AMW against whoever? Their PPV on Sunday looks very promising on paper but then I look and don't really see a whole lot of heated issues or angles. Jarrett/Nash? I don't really understand why Nash even HAS a title shot in storyline terms and the announcers even seem at a loss. The most heated issue is between the Dudleys and AMW from what I've seen, but do you want a tag match to have the most heated feud? Daniels/AJ should be a very good match but I have zero investment in either guy so the winner doesn't really matter much. And will someone please explain to me the continued push of Michael Shane (Matt Bentley)? I know he's Shawn's cousin but it's like he's getting a nepotism push when his famous relative is in another promotion. He's the easy weak link in that Ultimate X match yet why do I have the ominous feeling he'll win? Those are just some thoughts I've had about the first few weeks of the Spike show. I'll give the PPV a chance since it looks good matchwise, not sure about future PPVs after that though.

Once they announced this Friday move I knew the nails were in the coffin and next year will be the dirt being shovelled. I can't say I really want Smackdown to be cancelled since it's actually been better than Raw if you compare the moves (SD to Friday, Raw to USA). Smackdown is a nice oasis of McMahon free WWE TV and it has a credible world champion (Batista), some great veterans like Eddie, Benoit, Booker, and some promising up and comers (Kennedy, Lashley). The show's only serious weakness is a lack of decent heels.
