Update on Hassan (Insider Spoilers, Info)

Well in theory paying the dues should make him ready. To me paying dues isn't carrying JBL's luggage around, it's actually focusing on in ring improvement and mic skills.

I'm sure Jericho could get another title run if he agreed to be HHH's job bitch again once he's back.

Correct, it's the entirely wrong way to book an angle. The entire basis of a wrestling feud is "Wrestler A does something bad to Wrestler B, Wrestler B wants revenge....at first he is denied, but after trying finally overcomes the odds and wins." Dreamer/Raven was this formula cranked to the max. But this Eddie/Rey thing? I have no idea what I'm supposed to be wanting to see here. Rey has already beaten Eddie so many times that it takes out him getting revenge for Eddie's misdeeds....he's won EVERY match! So thus I assume I'm supposed to be rooting for Eddie to finally reveal his big secret and get an elusive win. If Rey has been booking this himself, WWE should take note and never let him book his own angles again.

Exslade, it's not so much a matter of "Jericho beat so and so thus he should not be able to beat Cena." It's a matter of Jericho having not beaten ANYONE in about a year and thus having zero credibility in a main event. So to rebuild his heat, give him a few solid wins. I'm telling you, they outta just put the title on Jericho here. No one thinks he has a shot, and it would be one of those shock title changes that would surprise people in a good way.

    It's that time again

I'm glad someone else brought up Dana Jacobson seriously bringing her dating/sexual frustrations out on Cold Pizza. Note that she was hitting on Woody and not Skip Bayless....this tying into my theory on Bayless being gay. Skip Bayless seems like a woman hating faux chauvanist pig who is actually doing it to hide being gay. Anyone else agree? And yes, Jason Whitlock sucked on PTI....but then that isn't news to anyone who has ever watched Sports Reporters.

The Guy You Like Who Actually Sucks

Actually Bryan Adams was Crush back in the day...Clarke was Adam Bomb. It's a shame they didn't just call them Wrath and Crush as Kronik since the whole Adams and Clarke stuff was boring. Kamala, I was always fascinated with him though he was horrible. Not sure if Sid actually counts or not....he had a few good matches and was always amusing on the mic.

I wouldn't have had a problem with the Viscera match had he SQUASHED the midget. Isn't that the whole point of doing the 400 lb. dude vs. midget type matches?

Update on Hassan (Insider Spoilers, Info)

Well one thing is that Matt Morgan never did much of anything notable. I mean did he ever cut many promos so that people would remember offhand that he didn't have a stutter before? He was certainly never pushed beyond being on Team Lesnar at a Survivor Series. Ah well, send Magnus back down here to OVW. Pay those dues, rookie! Pay those dues!

I'm not going to come down on this Raw too hard tonight....after that PPV last night they could put on anything short of Katie Vick and it'd be an improvement. You know, while watching the Shelton/Masters thing tonight I wondered....why doesn't someone simply go to the corner and do the old Bret flip back onto Masters? It'd be a good way to job him out without having someone break the Masterlock.

The OAO Raw Thread for 07.25.05

One problem is that Raw is so heel heavy that I'm not sure who you'd job out to Jericho to boost his cred. How many notable faces are there on Raw right now? Shelton has been jobbing to Carlito and even tonight to Chris Masters, not sure what good it'd do Jericho to beat him. Kane has jobbed to Edge now so often that nobody would care if Jericho beat him. Maybe job out the Big Show? It's really all smoke and mirrors to make you forget that Jericho has been a jobber the better part of 3 years. I'd almost put the title on Jericho as a shock title change since no one believes he has a shot, then we know he'd job out to HHH when he returns....then we have Cena chase HHH. I mean you know HHH is getting the belt at some point again, this is as feasible as anything.

Excatly, hell most of my interest in seeing GAB was based around finding out (good or bad) what this horrible secret was. I didn't care if Eddie jobbed as long as he then was a dick and told it anyway. This feud is starting to take on Roadrunner/Coyote vibes. Eddie has been jobbing so long to Rey that frankly I wish he'd just snap and destroy Rey. It's a weird ass backward feud in that they are having the face totally dominate the heel to the point where I'm begging for the heel to win.

Y2Jerk, I have been saying as much in various other threads on here. Jericho right now has no credibility. I mean my God the guy was jobbing out in the IC division just a couple months ago. I think I ended up comparing him to JBL in that he too is getting a title shot on PPV despite doing jack shit to deserve it. Hell, even BOB HOLLY won some sort of #1 contender match to justify getting a crack at Lesnar. One thing I can't believe is that they haven't mentioned the previous PPV encounter of Jericho/Cena. That 2002 Vengeance match is one that led to Jericho's cred dying a horrible death, the fact that he jobbed to a totally green and heatless Cena. This angle is seriously going to lead to fans turning on Cena, I can feel it. Jericho has already made several good points on this, and if you notice the crowd tonight seemed rather pleased to see Carlito beat Cena. In fact, I think they had Jericho forfeit the Battle of the Bands so that Fozzy didn't upstage Cena.

    The Boogieman...

The Boogeyman has the potential to be a cult favorite. I mean what the hell, let's just harken back to 1992 when you give a guy a stupid gimmick. I'd rather see guys with stupid gimmicks that are at least hilarious rather than see a bunch of bland, boring guys with no talent going under their real names.

    The Hummer Angle

Yeah the names were Lane and Rave by that point however. That Spring Stampede main event was bizarro world. Hogan was injured mid match by DDP, Macho attacked Flair near the end and dropped the elbow on him (Macho was ref, and this never really led to anything that I recall), the whole thing was truly strange. Not a bad match or anything but just booked by a crackhead. The reason DDP winning was really weird is that you'd think his first title win would be built up a bit more. If I recall DDP hadn't even been on TV leading up to this show (selling an injury from Steiner from Superbrawl I think). Besides, it was his first world title so why the hell would someone book a guy's first title win in a FOUR WAY? Also, DDP's momentum from 98 had seriously stalled by April 1999. If they had put the title on him soon after his good match with Goldberg at Havoc, he might have been better received. But he'd cooled off considerably by the point they put the title on him, and had also done some sort of strange heel turn around the time of this show with little fanfare. In fact, while I said in the original post that to me the Hummer Angle is the main angle that truly sent WCW into the ground for good, there was this one Nitro before it that could stand as a 1 show primer on what killed WCW. To wit: DDP faced Sting for the title in the first hour of Nitro. He jobs straight up in the middle of the ring, Sting wins the title. Everyone was happy, I was happy....and then for whatever reason Flair or whoever was in charge grants DDP a rematch in a convoluted 4 way involving Nash, DDP, Sting, and someone else I can't recall (was it Flair?). DDP protested the whole match by sitting in the crowd, didn't wrestle a lick. Anyway, at some point everyone was fighting and DDP snuck in and got a quick Diamond Cutter on Nash--his only actual move of the match--and regained the title. This show flat out drove me up the wall. I think it was the first time where I felt a flat out feeling of disdain towards WCW, not outright outrage or hate like I did with the Fingerpoke...just a feeling of "That was such bullshit I might not watch this show again."

From what little I saw of Garrison Cade, he is BETTER than Orlando. At least he gave me a short haired Barry Windham type vibe, which would be fine if this was 1985 instead of 2005.

I dunno, I don't see shit in either Hassan or Jordan really, haha. They are both bland and terrible in the ring, but Hassan has at least had some mic opportunities. Jordan has shown no discernable skill, moveset, nothing.

    Smackdown plans for Summerslam

Kahran, what the fuck is up with this JBL shit you keep spouting? I'm not saying the guy is totally worthless, but he's damn near it. Guys like Eddie and Angle literally have to slow it to a crawl for JBL, and yet you argue that they did this with RVD? RVD CAN wrestle, he CAN talk if given the opportunity and direction, and there is infinitely more evidence to support those claims than anything pro JBL (aside from some of his promos. Second, RVD injury prone? How? He got hurt for a couple months in 2000, and he's been hurt most of this year. In a 15 year career those are really the only times he's been out of action for any length of time. It's kind of funny, but even Kahran admits RVD is over. And really isn't being over the main reason to push someone? They've been trying to push rookies and veteran bums who aren't over far too long, why not push someone that actually is over? Let's face it, no one ever said "Gee, I wish they would push Bradshaw."

    Orlando Must Die!

Last night I made an offhand remark about starting a club for those who hate Orlando Jordan, given that he is utterly worthless and yet has held the US title since before WM. And also now has wins over both John Cena and Chris Benoit. This shit has gotten absurd and it must stop. And no, I don't mean this literally...it's just the name of the club. Who wants to join?

    The Hummer Angle

Actually no, I thought Jericho would win since he was at that point the only guy who made sense. Austin didn't need the title again, ditto The Rock, and Angle was being jobbed out of the ME for a while. Jericho was the main guy who needed the win. DDP winning that 4 way was just really out of nowhere. He literally seemed like just a guy added to the 4 way, no one thought he had any sort of shot. And for good reason....I think his title run is what really started to tank WCW's ratings. in 1999 and then the Hummer killed their credibility for good.

Orlando Jordan isn't a future superstar....he fucking sucks, he's worthless and if anything should be RELEASED rather than holding a major title and 2nd in command of a heel faction. That's why it's sickening that Benoit would job to him. Orlando Jordan is the worst major champion since DAVID FLAIR and at least David was always booked to be a total joke. I mentioned last night of wanting to start an "Orlando Must Die" club, but frankly I don't think anyone cares enough about him to join. Think about that one.

Update on Hassan (Insider Spoilers, Info)

I didn't see that match obviously but I can't imagine it being much different than the tedious house show match between Shelton and Carlito I saw recently. OVW is BAD people, believe me I know...I live in Louisville. It's like taking guys from the friggin USWA and pushing them on WWF TV.

Nah, Batista isn't fucked. He'll get the defining win over JBL, not like he didn't leave both JBL and Jordan laying last night. I also don't think MNM are fucked either, they'll simply regain soon. Eddie, Christian, and Benoit? They're fucked. They might as well form a new JOB Squad.

Update on Hassan (Insider Spoilers, Info)

Last night Hassan didn't get shit in terms of crowd response so I think the whole news of his removal had gotten out, thus no one thought he had a chance in hell. There's really not much they can do with him at this point, I already suggested putting on a mask but he'll inevitably be revealed as Hassan at some point. He could just come out and say he was never an Arab and that he's really Mark Magnus...and no one would care because he'd still suck in the ring.

    Smackdown plans for Summerslam

Oh God, I know...hell I got into it big time with Kahran and MikeSC in the RVD thread in regards to "Why isn't RVD a main event caliber guy when fucking BRADSHAW is?" There's a really weird and disturbing trend going on here. It seems like they are now trying to push people with little rhyme or reason. Say what you want about RVD, but at least his 2001 push was justified by 1. Crowd response and 2. Entertaining hardcore matches. Oh and he won a lot. Why was JBL pushed storywise to begin with? Because he threatened a few illegal Mexicans? Why is Jericho in a title match? He hasn't won a match in like 3 years and was just jobbed out of the IC title scene post WM. This is the problem with having idiot soap opera writers, they have no concept that "He who gets a title push has to WIN enough to deserve said push." Why were they going to push Hassan? He hadn't done shit to deserve a #1 contender match, and in fact had just been squashed by Cena before leaving Raw.

    OAO Great American Bash Thread

RRR, I recall your rant on Hassan: "The guy had a bad match with Benoit! Nathan Jones didn't even have a bad match with Benoit!" How about the useless Orlando Jordan? He had a bad match with Benoit last night, with a horrible 80s finish. There are some finishes that badly need to be retired, and "heel taking off the turnbuckle" is one of them. It's right up there with "manager grabs the face's leg on a suplex" in the pantheon of bad finishes. The fact is, Benoit is fucked. They have zero plans for him, unless it's to continue this epic Orlando feud and get his big blowoff win at SS (note sarcasm). SummerSlam is a wash anyway. Even with the Hassan match removed it's still shaping up to be a disaster for the 2nd biggest show of the year. Actually it USED to be the 2nd show....I'd say right now it's a distant 3rd behind the Rumble. When the selling point of the show is "See the washed up 40 year old vs. the even more washed up 50 year old" you have major problems. You've got the neverending JBL push of doom here, the now heatless Randy Orton probably showing up to wreck UT's night, and friggin Jericho in the main event. I mean I still like Jericho but the guy is a complete jobber at this point and hasn't done shit to warrant a title shot. I mean at least JBL storyline speaking won a 6 way match and got a DQ win last night. Jericho hasn't done shit to even deserve this.
